I'm Evangelizing RSS With Google Reader's E-mail Function - http://www.louisgray.com/live...
Also emailing from GoogleReader makes it easy to re-blog to Posterous which does a good job to display the post with your introduction note, link to the original, etc... - Antoine Bertier
you should install Feedly, a FF extension which give you another GUI for GReader... impressive number of sharing capabilities and integration with social networks... - Luca Filigheddu
Perfect for emailing interesting stuff to store in Gmail. - Svartling
Louis: Why didn't you send me something before. : ) - Erhan Erdogan
I have to admit that I signed up for a Posterous account a few months ago, and forgot all about it. - Ian May
thanks for having me as one of the emailed sources! you know I never even thought of the "email this" function as evangelising rss. thanks for the idea!! - Daryl Tay
and ... I was wondering why my inbox was goin' nuts?? Nice graphic Louis :) Did he say Apple?? - Charlie Anzman

Startup, Inc - What You Need to Know Before Starting a Company - ReadWriteWeb - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
This is fantastic. Must-read for a newbie entrepreneur. I found it 500 times more useful than the stuff you find for "how to incorporate" on Google. :-) - Sid Yadav from Bookmarklet
I agree. Wish I would have had someone explaining things to me BEFORE I hired a lawyer to help. It was still a good idea but not COMPLETELY necessary. - Dave Ploch

What I Want PR and Marketing Professionals To Know - http://www.chrisbrogan.com/what-i-...
I've gotta say. As someone involved in the area - I am proud to (at least feel) one step ahead of the game. There is nothing out there I have ever felt as passionate about, apart from my baby, and I can't see the passion dwindling. - Zee.
btw, which plugin allows for friendfeed comments directly on the blog? Or is that a Movable Type blog you've got there... Oh, no it's not. Which plugin is that? - Zee.
Great post, you hit most of my recent peeves. - Heather Solos
strange - sure i have that installed but I'm not getting the ability to add comments directly on the blog which is awesome. Will look into it - cheers. - Zee.
I'm a long-time PR and Public Affairs guy, but I'm far removed from any metropolitan areas. Very few of my long-time contacts and colleagues are even aware of what Web 2.0 or Social Media are, much less what they mean. They may have a LinkedIn or FaceBook account, but they see such tools as no more than toys. The practical applications of this stuff are beyond them still. I hope to gradually pull some out of their caves and into the light. - Bob Finch

Take a Google Reader Shared Item Viral Using Notes - http://www.louisgray.com/live...
This is a great idea Louis, but I don't think it will pan out (although I hope it does). I think this is something that will have need to be implemented in the backend somehow. Maybe this could be automated, a greasemonkey script or something? - Tim Hoeck
It probably won't, due to the fact not everyone is on Google Reader, not everybody is subscribed to my link blog, and not everybody cares, but I just thought it a fun experiment. If it fails, then it shows what little influence I have. :-) - Louis Gray
Louis - not sure you've noticed yet but I am getting timeouts connecting to your site right now? - Matt Hooper
Yes, that's due to SiteMeter vs. Internet Explorer. I'm stripping the SiteMeter code right now. - Louis Gray
Well, I just did it. It will be interesting to see how far it goes. - Kevin Bondelli
Nice thought, shared now. I don't really use my Reader Shared but it's never too late, i hope i got the note part right, is there an edit option once you post? - Majento
I shared your post with a note, but it hasn't appeared here yet... - Jemm
@Joni click "Edit/add" on your services and refresh your reader feed - Majento
I'm in. - Jon-Paul Bussoli
@Majento: Thanks, it did the trick :) - Jemm
Good luck on the experiment. - Mitchell Tsai
won't hurt to try! - Dobromir Hadzhiev
Interesting idea. Another limitation is that at the moment it seems the "Share with Notes" button only appear in the english version of Google Reader, but not if you set your language to anything else (or at least not if you set your language to French). - Antoine Bertier
I would do this but since I'm so caught up in social|median right now I didn't read this item in gReader and I don't have the bookmarklet installed in this browser. Not so dedicated to the cause as to launch gReader just for your experiment. Sorry. - Jon Price

Refreshing to read a more personal account of recovering from professional failure like this one. Incidentally, I think of Boo.com as being the big dot-com bomb, not Pets.com. - Jason Menayan
there's some bombs i wish would have survived because I enjoyed the service: Homegrocer, MyLackey, and especially Kozmo! I used to get deliveries at all hours while working at my own dotcom. - Meghan from Alert Thingy
This is a really great read and of particular interest since I worked at Petstore.com. The entire vertical was the leading domino of the Web 1.0 collapse. Granted I wasn't in a high profile position, but I thought it was a great learning experience. - AJ Kohn
Frankly, Web 2.0 is starting to smell a lot like dot.com. Maybe it's just me. Hey, that sock puppet wasn't Dave Winer by any chance, was it? - ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ

Excellent Mike. We should render this into a 'delicious' like library. - Jeremiah Owyang
its just because I'm on my iPhone and want to come back and read later - but your idea is cool - mike "glemak" dunn
Interesting post. I think employee productivity may be the best first step for companies into social networking, versus solely focusing on the marketing side. - Paul M. Banas
I'm surprised that the BBC is covering this tbh. - john conroy
mike's idea is a good one: turn "like" into searchable delicious-like FF feature - Tom Guarriello
k - finally got the time to read it, pretty good article and strange to see such bright emerging topics attributed to a gartner person (there is hope i suppose)... - mike "glemak" dunn
"Mr Mann noted that their work uncovered that in many cases social networking was actually taking the place of email, or at least taking a place alongside it." http://bhc3.wordpress.com/2008... - Hutch Carpenter
yeah hutch - your post was a good one, read it when it came out - mike "glemak" dunn
Thanks Mike. When a firm of Gartner's caliber talks about it, it's got some weight. - Hutch Carpenter
hutch, gartner is not alone :) - Jeremiah Owyang
True Jeremiah - kudos to a Forrester guy sharing a link about Gartner. Forrester guys always impressed me from my BEA days. - Hutch Carpenter
agree w/ hutch - very "miracle on 34th st" of you jeremiah :) - mike "glemak" dunn
Jeremiah rises above the noise, chatters like a focused Mad Men - Marc Canter
Thanks Marc, Mike. Hutch. What matters is looking at the larger trends, when you see multiple independent data points all point the same way at the stars, you can start to really see a pattern. Aside from that, those Gartner guys are smart. - Jeremiah Owyang
quick aside - i live in the town that gartner has its headquarters so my kids play sports w/ their kids & we end up seeing some of them socially at these events - makes it sort of awkward when they're trying to convince me to re-up our acct or about some tech trends and i can't help but recall when they berated a referee or rival team the previous weekend :-p - mike "glemak" dunn

Tired Social Media Phrases: "Join the conversation"
A lot of people haven't even joined yet. Most of them don't even know what social media is, less the true meaning of "join the conversation" - Armando Alves from twhirl
CORRECTION: A LOT OF US. There are still so many companies/agencies that just don't 'get it.' Don't put the cart before the horse - David Weiner
I am amazed at how many people have never heard the "Join the conversation" in context of Social Media... but yeah, you're right it is a "tired" phrase. So what now? Suggestions? - Susan Beebe
Moreover, countless don't care and never will. Its like talk radio: millions of people out there on the fringe, but only a few pick up the phone and call in. - Russell Holliman
I think it's all about: GET ENGAGED. AND MEAN IT. - David Weiner

Are any of you Friendfeed users but do NOT have a Twitter account? (I suspect it will be few, as many appear to migrate from Twitter)
I do have Twitter, but never used it as much as here. I have more followers here, and I post much more often. I guess I'm more of a conversation answerer than a conversation starter. I always felt silly posting random things on Twitter - here it's more focused. - Rich
I also have a Twitter account, but never really used it. Versus FriendFeed, the conversations on Twitter seemed too random and trivial for my taste. - Paul M. Banas
Why would someone post here instead of Twitter when Twitter will push to FF but FF doesn't push to Twitter? Just seems that posting on Twitter captures a larger audience. - Doug McCaughan

Chris: you missed my blog redesign at http://scobleizer.com -- look at the right side. :-) - Robert Scoble
Isn't my blog my home base? Contrary to *some* beliefs (giggle) I still engage in comments - Erin @queenofspain
Sonciary: yup, that's a good point. Plus, FriendFeed gets into Google. Google is how most people find new places to go on the Internet. - Robert Scoble
chris: ff is an aggregation of all of our home base(s) easily available in one simple interface - put a different way "all your base are belong to us" - happy 4th to you & yours btw :) - mike "glemak" dunn
Glemak: Thanks and to yours, too. Nomads. Is Mr. Rubel finally right in his most recent few posts? Have we snuck off into RSS, only to leave a tiny trail behind for the non-edgelings? - Chris Brogan
Robert- Huh. I saw 2.0 but not 2.1. Neat new stuff there. (or if it's always been there, I guess I missed it the first time). - Chris Brogan

Not to discriminate, but personal checks should no longer be any acceptable form of payment at any retail location.

An interesting perspective on one of the latest buzzwords, "conversation". Marketers should realize that it's not a conversation if they are the only ones doing all the talking. - Paul M. Banas
For some reason this makes me think of the "push me pull you", an animal that went opposite directions of itself- conversation is a collaborative push and pull- marketing that pushes without looking at what's being pulled is the ridiculous animal I just mentioned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Brian Carter
have also received some good private messages on this concept, though a few friends are wondering why I have a problem with conversational marketing, which is kinda funny - Chris Heuer

Should Friendfeed incorporate threaded messages? This way you can see who is replying to who, and see how the converesation splinters.
Yes - and timestamped comments too. - Steve Rubel
Threads and timestamps, yes. FriendFeed comments really strike me as an afterthought: something tacked on to a very nice feed aggregator. Now if FriendFeed and Disqus could get together we'd have a situation where 1+1 = something much, much greater than 2. - Ken Sheppardson
No passion one way or the other. Threaded comments might be nice but I don't mind the way it is. - Michael Hocter
Seems logical but deep threads might stain the interface. Timestamps are a great idea, but should be "click-to-reveal" instead of visible by default. My take: When presenting text, less = more. - Dan Kaplan
I find threaded comments get to be a mess to follow the conversation, what we have here works well. I agree that some sort of time stamp saying when the last comment was made would be nice...and maybe notifications when comments are added to posts you like or have commented on. - John Duff
Don't have a fav on this one, stickin' with KISS for now ;-) - cbgreenwood
Yes, we definitely need timestamps - Satya
If they do threaded, it should only go one level deeper. KISS is a great philosophy to live by. - Ben Parr
I don't like comments being displayed as threaded, but how about replies to individual comments? You still have the "flat" display of comments, but you can see which comments are replies to others. - Rishabh Mishra (p248)
Agreed with Ben. Maybe one level. - Phil G
I would love threaded comments personally. - Jake (aka Jawee)
i think its just fine the way it is - not looking for /. - mike "glemak" dunn
Where do you stop? Maybe one level... - Allen Fuller
Like the less is more and KISS philosophy. Have the detail, but keep it below the surface. - Paul M. Banas
Timestamps for sure. - Jason Runyan
No, only timestamp (at least in the TITLE attribute) - Claudio Cicali ♋
lots of folks end up using the @ to address the person in the conversation so it works. i agree with cbgreenwood on this one. - Atul Arora
Sure why not. I have tons of available whitespace to the right on my screen. - Mark Krynsky
MUST !!! - sachin sawant
Maybe default looking like this, but then a button that slides it right into a threaded mode. - Rich
