Google’s Holiday Gift: Free Wi-Fi at Airports - http://mashable.com/2009...
Here’s a nice holiday gift from Google (which may point to a service further ahead): the company will provide free Wi-Fi on airports across USA from now through January 15, 2010. Google (Google) has worked with Boingo Wireless, Advanced Wireless Group, Airport Marketing Income and other companies to provide this free service. It is currently available at 47 airports, including Las Vegas, San Jose, Boston, Baltimore, Burbank, Houston, Indianapolis, Seattle, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, St. Louis and Charlotte. It gets even better for residents of Seattle and Burbank, where airports will now offer airport-wide free Wi-Fi indefinitely. It’s a cool gift, but Google also gives you the option to make someone else happy, too; once you log in to one of the Wi-Fi networks, you’ll have the option to donate to Engineers Without Borders, the One Economy Corporation or the Climate Savers Computing Initiative. - Pax Stereo Tv

Yahoo Gives Out Free Wi-Fi Too (in Times Square) - http://mashable.com/2009...
‘Tis the season for free Wi-Fi. Earlier this morning we reported that Google has started offering free Wi-Fi to holiday travelers at US airports starting now and extending through January 15th. That’s in addition to their free in-flight Wi-Fi holiday promotion with Virgin America. Interestingly enough, however, today also happens to be the start of a major free Wi-Fi campaign from Yahoo, who has partnered with the Times Square Alliance to offer visitors and locals alike free Wi-Fi in Times Square, New York. The Wi-Fi from Yahoo promotion, which you can use from your laptop or mobile device, kicked off this morning at 8am EST and will continue throughout all of 2010. - Pax Stereo Tv

SNL Tops Hulu’s Weekly “Movers & Shakers” List - http://mashable.com/2009...
Unlike YouTube, Hulu doesn’t show you the number of times a given video has been viewed. Although the site does have a “Most Popular” section, Hulu recently started offering a bit more insight into viewing trends by distributing “Movers & Shakers” charts (via email) that lists the most popular videos, shows, clips, movie trailers, and search terms over a given week. Perhaps most interesting of the bunch is the “most popular show” category, a combination of clips and full episodes that tells you what has moved up and down in the past week (versus the other data, which can more or less be easily found on the site), serving as a TV ratings of sorts for the Web (minus CBS, the only network not involved with the venture). In this week’s rankings, Saturday Night Live – hosted by Taylor Swift – moved up into the #1 slot for TV shows, not surprising given clips from the show currently dominate the site’s “most popular” section. SNL is followed by The Office, Family Guy, and The Daily Show. - Pax Stereo Tv

Google Helps You Find a Flu Shot - http://mashable.com/2009...
In addition to free airport Wi-Fi, Google has another gift to you this holiday season — aka this flu season. They’ve been working with the U.S. Department for Health and Human Services to develop a tool for locating flu shot providers near you, located at google.com/flushot. The tool leverages Google Maps (Google Maps) to show you nearby vaccine locations for both the seasonal and H1N1 swine flu varieties. They stress that the project is just getting started and they’re still gathering more information about flu shot clinics for a number of areas, with help from the HHS, the Centers for Disease Control and state and local health agencies. Google (Google) also hopes the launch will encourage more vaccine providers to contribute information to the project. So far flu vaccine data is compiled from clinics in 20 U.S. states and pharmacy chains across the country. They advise calling ahead to any particular provider to confirm availability for either of the two vaccines. - Pax Stereo Tv

Apple Adds A Ton Of HD Content. Including Movies I Would Actually Buy. - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
Apple has just added a range of HD movies available for purchase on iTunes. Here’s the kicker: There are actually some good movies, finally. Sure, previously you could grab a few gems like Casino Royale. But now, for example, a total of 9 James Bond films are in HD (though sadly, only two of the Connery ones are, and Goldfinger is not one of them). So what else is available in HD now? Blockbusters like The Rock, Top Gun, The Sixth Sense, and Cloverfield. Award-winning movies like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, There Will Be Blood, The Queen, and No Country For Old Men. Pixar latest masterpiece Up is also available in HD. And you can also pre-order movies like Star Trek, which comes out next week, in HD. - Pax Stereo Tv

How To Quickly Customize Your Facebook Page To Attract More Fans - http://searchengineland.com/how-to-...
Facebook Fan Pages are gaining popularity due to their high adoption rates among Facebook’s 300+ million users. Currently more than 10 million users become fans of Pages each day. However, the basic fan page layout is quite cookie cutter, so adding some simple modifications can really make a Fan Page standout and land those valuable fans. Not only will this look great, but it is easy and cost effective, unlike a custom built and branded Facebook Application. - Pax Stereo Tv

Murdoch and News Corp don’t deserve web traffic so STFU and pull the plug - http://www.inquisitr.com/46957...
I’m getting really sick and tired on this waffling back and forth by old screwed up news organizations like the AP and News Corp. All they seem to do is constantly whine and cry about how all those evil news aggregators are being lead by the very devil itself – Google. The newest shot across the broadside of course was a interview in Australia with Murdoch where he alluded to the the fact that all News Corp properties; in order to show Google who was boss, were considering pulling it’s content from the search engine. Look, there is already a way that Murdock and company could have done this before now; as he has been told many times already, but if News Corp is staffed by a bunch of idiots that don’t know what a Robots.txt file is then News Corp, and Murdock, deserve everything coming to them. - Pax Stereo Tv

15 Social Media Twitter Lists to Follow and Expand - http://mashable.com/2009...
As you can probably tell from our extensive coverage this week, we’re extremely excited about the possibilities of Twitter Lists: from how news organizations are leveraging the feature, to a full Twitter Lists FAQ to the potential for real-time journalism and the utility of lists after the tragic Fort Hood shootings. As such, we’ve started work on our own project to categorize Twitter (Twitter) into what we hope will be useful lists. These are nowhere near finished, of course: just a starting point. We’ll be adding more and more names over the coming weeks. If you see people you’d like to include (and there are many, many more to add – sorry if we missed you!), just send a Tweet to @mashable with your suggestions. - Pax Stereo Tv

Snoop Dogg, Entrepreneurship and Rajasthan - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
You are probably asking yourself, what the heck does the controversial and highly successful rapper have to do with entrepreneurship? Snoop has graciously agreed to serve on a Nov. 16 mentoring panel that features high-powered entrepreneurs handing out sage advice on how they launched and grew their businesses and brands. No doubt, Snoop has built one of the most durable brands in the notoriously volatile world of hip-hop. In fact, I’d wager that Snoop could give some solid lessons to some of the top decision makers and brand masters on a global basis. The panel is but one of a huge slate of events arranged by the Kauffman Foundation (full disclosure — they have underwritten some of my research) for Global Entrepreneurship Week. - Pax Stereo Tv

Google Music Search: 3 Major Implications for the Music Business - http://mashable.com/2009...
Last week we reported on Google’s new music discovery features. The Google music search endeavor is partnership between Google, MySpace, Lala, and several others to make music search and discovery a primary feature of the Google experience. In fact, Google (Google) music search does more than just return a few track listings; it offers up audio streaming, one-click purchase options from iLike and Lala, and now even exclusive content from artists. Google music search has broad implications for the music space, and in this post we’ll explore three of the most significant implications around a music search service powered by Google, and dissect how some of the industry’s current heavy hitters could be in for a wake up call. - Pax Stereo Tv

Google Talk to Add Video Conferencing - http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2009...
Gmail Chat, the web-based version of Google Talk, added last year voice and video chat. The feature is now available in iGoogle and orkut, but it will probably be added to other Google services, as well. SFGate reports that Google will improve the service significantly in the coming months. Gmail's voice and video chats are now limited to one-to-one communications, but Google wants to broaden that capability to more than two participants and make it more robust all around for Apps. "This [current Gmail capability] is the first step in a much broader set of features we hope to roll out over the next six to 12 months around video [and voice] chat capabilities," said Rishi Chandra, a Google Apps product manager. "It's a great opportunity for us to push that space along." It's not clear whether Google plans to integrate Marratech's video conferencing software, acquired in 2007. - Pax Stereo Tv

Twitter Finally Begins Adding Search Relevancy Features - http://searchengineland.com/twitter...
The Twitter Blog has a short blog post mentioning that they have added technology “to show higher quality results for trend queries by returning tweets that are more useful.” Clearly, this is Twitter’s first step in improving Twitter Search by adding relevancy and search quality factors to the search algorithm. Currently, Twitter Search returns results based on keyword match and the most recent tweet. Trending Topics is the first of Twitter’s search areas to get the relevancy filter, to reduce the “noise” that Twitter Search has. We knew Twitter was working on adding relevancy factors with linkage data, and I assume this is the first signs of it. In the Twitter blog post, Twitter said it might be very noticeable right now, but they hope to improve it over time. You can test it out for yourself at Twitter Search and clicking on one of the “trending topics.” In other Twitter news, Twitter is experimenting with adding retweet buttons to some user accounts. - Pax Stereo Tv

The Paint By Numbers Guide To Artful Blogging - http://www.problogger.net/archive...
Do you subscribe to the idea that blogging is an art form? I do. Britannica Online defines art as “The use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others.” If you’re a blogger, then by definition, you most certainly engage in the following activities during the creation of content: 1. Creative Writing 2. Web Page Design (Aesthetics) 3. Idea Development (Novelty) 4. Social Media (Shared Experiences) When we start our blog, we read the A-list bloggers, and they repeat the mantra of blogging, “CON-tent, CON-tent, CON-tent!” Yet, its so easy to get caught up in the allure of unique visitors, page views, and keyword content. All the background noise distracts us from the core of what we do, which is, in reality, a form of art. - Pax Stereo Tv

Beet.TV: Madison Avenue's Frustration with Online Video: Quality is "Complete Crap," top WPP Exec - http://www.beet.tv/2009...
Despite the commanding position of YouTube, with 40 percent of video streams in the U.S., the quality of the environment for advertisers is not always acceptable, according to leading digital advertising executives. Rob Norman, CEO of WPP's giant GroupM Interaction, the digital media buying group, says that despite the availability of high quality video ads to go up on the Web, the technical quality and environment of sites like YouTube is not acceptable. He says the current environment is "complete crap." (His comments come at the end of this clip.) GroupM says it is the world's largest media buying company, with billings of $60 billion.
