"Pastiche? Mash-up? The best form of flattery? Whatever you want to call it, artists have enjoyed riffing on historical paintings for ages. For some, it’s a fun way to learn and explore issues of color, composition, and application of paint by intimately copying from a master. For others, it’s a means to tap into the feelings and emotions already assoctiated with the original image, (for humour or drama.) Seeing John Mattos’ great modernist takes on Star Wars made me want to seek out other views of science fiction via the classics."

"Norman Bel Geddes announced big plans in 1932: Air Liner Number 4, a gigantic V-winged flying boat with a wingspan of 528 feet, more than twice that of today’s 777. Twenty 1900-horsepower engines would carry it through the air at 100 mph and an altitude of only 5,000 feet while 451 passengers ranged over nine decks containing 180 apartments, three kitchens, three private dining rooms, an orchestra platform, a gym, six shuffleboard courts, a dance floor, a library, separate solaria for men and women, a writing room, and a promenade deck. The 155-person crew included two telephone operators, 24 waiters, two masseuses, a manicurist, and a gymnast."

"Once upon a time there was a girl who had 7 invisible horses. People thought she was crazy and that she in fact had 7 imaginative horses, but this was not the case. When autumn came the girl spent a whole day washing all her clothes. She hung them on a string in her garden to let the gentle autumn sun dry them. Out of nowhere, a terrible storm came and its fiercefull winds grabbed a hold of all her clothes and all seven horses (authors note: since they are invisible they obviously didn't weigh much). The girl was devestated and spent all autumn looking for each horse spread around the country, wrapped in her clothes."

Thanks for fixing the FriendFeed to Twitter link. :-) Seems like my stuff from 11/18 onward has been forwarding, and I don't have to double post on Twitter & FriendFeed.

Facebook Timeline & The New Lifestreaming Era | Check out us FF'ers are in here! W00T W00T ~ uh, I take what I can get :) ~ still BOO FB - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"Facebook's new Timeline, currently in a limited developer release but set to be unveiled to its hundreds of millions of users any day now, is going to shake up the social networking landscape. It's going to bring lifestreaming - formally a geeky activity based around RSS feeds - to the mainstream. In my view, Timeline is the smartest and most significant thing Facebook has done since launching a developer platform in May 2007. I think it's that important. So where did the inspiration for Timeline come from and why is it going to be such a big deal? We can see the future just by looking at two earlier lifestreaming products: FriendFeed and scrappy start Memolane. Steve Jobs once famously said, quoting Picasso, that "good artists copy, great artists steal." Sure enough, as with most game-changing things on the Web, Timeline is not an original invention by Facebook. Although Timeline wasn't directly stolen from anyone, it was clearly influenced by FriendFeed and Memolane.

"One of the strongest inspirations for Timeline came from within Facebook itself, in the form of a startup it acquired in August 2009: FriendFeed. Co-founded by Bret Taylor, who is now Facebook's Chief Technology Officer, FriendFeed was a social media aggregator that was much beloved by Web geeks. FriendFeed was always far too geeky for mainstream users, however to his great credit...

what I can't stand is the Social Media over load, it's supposed to be "life streaming" but none of 'em really offer that sort of service, so I post content my content to fit the service when it should be the other way around, the service should be adequate enough to express my content. So if you combined my Twitter, Facebook, tumblr. and G+ into one, then you'd get a fuller picture or...

I am unable to configure twitter to post on via FriendFeed, I do have FriendFeed as authorized app in twitter but every time I click on cc twitter, It opens twitter, ask me to authorize friendfeed but of redirection after authorizing it dosen't seems to be working Nor do I see any of my tweets in time line.
I"m having he same problem. I don't even think anyone at Friendfeed is looking at this or cares.
- Mark Edwards
Twitter -> Friendfeed breaks every now and then. For me, not that I tweet often, it seems to have been down for about a week or so.
- Andrew C (✓)
After authorizing friendfeed on twitter, I get redirected back to friendfeed, and I get "We encountered an error on your last request. Our service is new, and we are just working out the kinks. We apologize for the inconvenience." Every time.

"You'll do a double take when you see John Schipp's re-carved coins. It's okay, we did too, these coins are so insanely detailed you'd swear they're fake. It's obvious you can only get to such a result with tons of patience, dedication and talent, but we were still so curious about the process that I contacted John to clue us in on how he turns coins into amazing art."

I've been having issues since I had to create a new twitter account a month ago. I'm unable to post to my new twitter account. I even notified support on 3 different occasions. I gues they really dont think its important for us to be able to post to twitter via FF. MIght as well get another app to post to twitter and tell everybody SUPPORT SUCKS!
- Steven Oki
I've also reported this issue on a number of occasions. Posting to Twitter has been broken for a month or so now for me. Most people that follow me are on Twitter so I end up having to put stuff direct on there which is annoying due to limits on photos etc. Getting really tempted to find something else if it doesn't get fixed soon.
- Nicky Bliss
It has, BUT it has taken away the option to add that feature. I had disabled it a while ago, hoping i could reset it and FF would start exporting. Now, the option to set that up is GONE.
- Mark Edwards
You know, the holy grail here is to achieve maximum bidirectional connectivity and communications among all social media, and Friendfeed was doing a great job in pursuing that dream.
- Sean McBride
what do you mean remove the feature ..its still there.. we can export to twitter
- Peter Dawson
exporting to twitter still not working for me

There is a settings page where you can specify what things to export to twitter. That page is well hidden. But here it is: http://friendfeed.com/setting... It just doesn't work.

I am experiencing the same thing as Sean McBride - twitter and facebook stopped getting updated via FF on Monday. I just deleted twitter from my ff update list...now i can't get it back. The message - We could not find the given account...appears when I attempt to add it back to the list. What happened?
Yeah, I just noticed the same thing. My tweets are being imported by Advanced Tweets, but when I try to push something to Twitter from FF (IDK if that happens through Advanced Tweets or if that goes through FF natively), it doesn't work.
- Curdy G
Twitter just imported for me! Hooray, it's back!

Not back for me on any of my accounts (>20), so I'm moving some of them to dlvr.it. There is rate limted trouble from Yahoo Pipes to Dlvr.it, but at least you get an error message with a hint at what's going on.
- Ignace Rodriguez de R,
As of the moment, Friendfeed posts are not being exported to Twitter. (But Twitter posts are being exported to Friendfeed.)
