"Who is against a pay cap? The players and that's it. Every sport with a pay cap is more competitive and every sport without a pay cap sees the most profitable franchises being the most successful. The only thing that's absurd about the argument against the Yankees or the Steinbrenners is that it's somehow their fault. The Steinbrenners aren't even one of the top 10 richest owners groups in MLB, they just invest more in their team because that's what their market demands. John Henry could outspend them easily if he wanted to but he's decided that it's not worth the extra money unless he's going to get a better return on his investment. Yes, a 50 millon dollar pay cap would help the sport...it's just going to take a very long players strike to get that done."

Are you an official Social Media Club dues paying member with a panel @sxsw? if so please add a link to your panel and a brief pitch - we will be posting all to the blog and promoting everyone later this week

Full disclosure, I am not a paying member yet. But that will be corrected shortly. I am the Executive VP and Programming Director for SMC-DC's post, under Larissa Fair. Because I felt there was a lot of talk about Community Management in 09, but not a lot of how to do it successfully I have submitted a dual discussion with myself and Mr. Ressler of GovLoop (@govloop) fame. We will break...

"That definitely changes the way I think about that movie. The first time I saw it, I took a day off from work and went to see it at a theater in Kips Bay. The theater was almost empty but this strange sweaty guy came and sat down right next to me. Call it New York stubbornness but I refused to move. So I watched a surrealist sex drama for almost three hours while scents of body odor and Sanka permeated my personal space whenever the air conditioning took a break. But I still thought it was a decent film."

"GLAAD has a significant effect on opening weekend box office? I'm not so sure about that. I think the real ripple effect was that social media hits the journalists before they write their reviews and it can't help but shape sentiment a little. That said, I saw the movie and it was pretty bad. Being bad is never good for the box office either."

"Looks like healthy competition to me. Hulu needs to find a way into the living room and Boxee needs to work on making their interface ready for prime time. My money is on Hulu making deals with the hardware guys (a la NetFlix) but I'm a happy Boxee user until then."

"Went on Cuban night and was greeted by a spinning pig out on the sidewalk (scary if you're a germ freak but cool if you like seeing your food being cooked). The menu changes every night here so I'm…"

"It's a very long story that I should probably get from her before I post it. I do plan on scanning some of their letters the next time I visit though."

"Did you like them? I thought they were terrible the night before in Portland. I don't think this is the kind of band that I like to see scaled down to trio and turning their back on the majority of their back catalog."

"When you see "poop" on this blog, it's for you but the Spike Jonez trailer does have a certain Royal appeal to it. Throw in the kids book reference and I have a post for the whole Troy-Stuart family. Go me!"
