Q&A: Will there be changes to the number of times a developer can hit the API? Answer: Limit is currently 100 per hour, and that will be bumped up.

Iain: I'm in marketing/branding and wonder how you guys think about your brand - In that you now offer Facebook support and I'm sure a bunch of other things down the line. Are you concerned that TweetDeck might be too limiting or do you believe that it's similar to the iTunes brand where everyone knows that iTunes is more than just music.

Someone asked about what effect the Oprah effect has had on Twitter's team. They said they had to focus more on scaling out social graphs to big users.

nicefishfilms: I don't have too many thoughts about the tiny URL folks. I am worried about the amount of power that we are giving them. The web works best when it's decentralized and everytime we choose to centralize again nasty stuff happens (look at Feedburner, for instance, and how it slowed everyone's feeds down for a while).

nicefilms or Scoble: do you know of any services that give you that "split second" meaning but for twitter trends? I subscribe via RSS to http://www.whatthetrend.com/ because it's the only service I have found that gives you a human definition of the trend and not just tweets that mention the trend.

@ Mike - don't know if that exists yet... but would point you to http://opencalais.com and look for the semantic proxy. seems to be the closest. What i'm looking for is that real-time 'meaning' extraction organized, curated in a visually compelling way. (we can dream right?)

I think everyone knows (or thinks) this is the future -- but the fundamental question is how does Peter Abraham (and those like him) make enough money to pay him to live, pay for his iphone, pay for his blog hosting, pay for his plane tickets to Florida and pay for his accommodation while there?

Agreed. That's the real issue. Would Abraham's blog pay for the access needed to make his insights so valuable? Will teams like the Yankees start footing the bill for beat writers to cover the team, which obviously helps market the team? Naturally, that raises a host of other issues.

And if newspapers are going to be any kind of organization beyond the reporter you have to pay for his boss, his bosses boss, the building he works in and the infrastructure to support it. If this is true -- then the future is just the past with an an iphone and a blog.

Blogging, micropublishing. All of this is just the writing down and cataloguing of the thoughts and conversations people have been having since the beginning of time. And notification, transmission is instant. The major change I foresee is the migration towards so-called A-listers or Content Editors.

steve, good one...and you are right big opportunities and more and more reporters doing exactly this. I heard that 95% of the top 100 US newspapers have reporters blogging or doing video and Facebook etc...so you can see the trend is on its way

Jason -- the answer is that there can't be 100 Yankee sports writers - nor can there be 1000++ photographers and reporters sent to the Olympics but even if you cut it down by one or two orders of magnitude and eliminate all other layers of management and infrastructure and cost there probably still is not enough money to made on the web to support this style of reporting(unless you imagine or invent a vastly different structure for flow of money than exists today).

I moved to satellite radio about 3 years ago, but most days, I tend to stream music intelligently through Pandora. Abritron says 18.5 hours a week for radio? Practically zero for me now, but in fairness, I gave up my commute to work 1.5 years ago. I wonder how much telecommuting is hurting radio?

Great article, Steve. One of the primary arguments Sirius/XM have made for their merger is the iPod. Since I've had an aux connector in my car, I rarely listen to radio (exceptions - NPR and Yankees). Commercial radio sucks. I started using Pandora on my computer about 6 mos ago and love it. I'm sure the same will be true on my iPhone. When you introduce Pandora to someone unfamiliar, the "wow factor" exists. Satellite = Stern & Sports. Is that enough?
