I bought a very high end Canon HD video camera with 40GB hard drive. I wasn't familiar with Flip before I bought it, I still regret it. Flip is just so easy to carry around with you.

Flip Ultra HD costs $199..slightly bulkier than the mino but not bad at all...I love mine
- Gary Gannon
Gary, what format does Flip use to encode?
- James Poling
I have the Flip MinoHD and it is awesome. The only problem is there is no image stabilizer, but still awesome
- Shawn Hickman
Thanks Shawn, I hadn't even thought about that. I wonder if the Flip Ultra has a stabilizer?

Our Flip Mino HD is the sexiest gizmo we have going on right now...

James: The fact that I can carry in my pocket anywhere I go is the best feature. I can go without the stabilizer, just use a mini-tripod to hold it. I don't think any of the Flips have stabilizers, but I could be wrong. I'm sure your Canon is amazing though.

i just got the flip mino and LOVE it. I think it actually gives a very stable image, so not sure what folks are doing with it. i just hold my arm out at arm length, point an dmy face and record. looks like some one else shot it. i do miss pulling focus though. the flip is pretty fantastic for the size, the ease of use, the image quality, and the price.

Sean: Yeah, it's a great video camera but the truth is I take way more video with my Canon point and shoot which isn't HD simply because it's way more portable/easier to break out. Plus my Canon Video camera records in M2TS format and I have yet to find a way to easily convert that to a format that works easily with any of my video sharing sites.

Discussion turned into Flip Mino HD vs. Flip Ultra HD... nothing on the Kodak Zi6? I've seen video from a Zi6 and it looks great, and have also read the Mino HD was a significant step back from the prior (480p) Flip models, which makes me wonder what Kodak's got going on.

I have long believed that in order to find the partner for you and create the possibility of your version of “Happy-Ever-After” you need to look at you and who you really are first. “Who are you bringing to the table” when you meet that person for the first time? What type of person are you? Most people get stuck on this as they don’t really know. They can tell you some of their traits – but not the type of person they are. In order to find someone you start with who you are. In my experience every single can give me (and do) a list of what they DON’T WANT in a potential new partner. However, the list of what they DO WANT is sadly much shorter.

I love Caledonia. We sing it all the time at home. Wherever we are. This is an interesting choice of advert for Homecoming Scotland - celebrating Burns' 250th birthday next year. Ripe for criticism, I have to admit it still moved me (especially Sean who reminds me of my estranged dad and is probably subject to most of the criticism - funny old world, eh?). Thanks to Amy at http://www.lessordinary.or g.uk/ where I found it.

We compost at home - and being vegetarian we do create a lot of vegetable waste matter what with many root veg peelings! Only one of our home exchange households here in Spain/France composts their food waste - a lost opportunity and out of place with the enlightened municipal recycling programmes. This post in the Guardian reassures those put off composting by recent unwarranted scares about poisoned allotments.
