As an example, look at the idea of workflow. Even though our daily experience of work is more as a series of interruptions than a fixed movement between well defined states, we still build systems that instantiate an ideal kind of work activity without interruption. Maybe this is the price of abstraction and reduction that's needed to design computer systems. But as Peter K says it does leak over into areas like education. - Bill Anderson via twhirl
