"We've had a busy afternoon in the BangShift news room with tips literally pouring in from all over the world. This one is hot off the presses from Switzerland where a 24-year old man unintentionally launched a brand new 5.0L Mustang off the third story of a parking garage. We have no idea how it happened but we do know that the driver only suffered minor scrapes and bruises, which seems like kind of a miracle, but there were mopeds and a tree to break his fall, so that could explain it. Authorities are still investigating the accident, but we bet it was a simple case of the dude thinking he was in reverse when in fact he was in a forward gear that caused this. One of the photos, the first we will show below, gives a great perspective on how far the car flew. You can see what looks to be a policeman standing by the open panel that the car smashed through. That falling concrete panel did wonders for the motorcycles parked below, as well. This is further proof for anyone looking to make an aeroplane out of a Mustang that your idea is a terrible one."

"The pioneering spirit of our founders is reflected in everything we do at Marussia Motors. For us creating an all-new sportscar brand means following convention when it’s known to produce the best results, but where innovation can steal the advantage we unflinchingly embrace new ideas and technologies. The synergy between our road car and Formula One racing operations is the perfect illustration of this forward-thinking creativity. The transfer of ideas, knowledge and technologies from Marussia Virgin F1 to Marussia Motors is the key to pushing the boundaries of performance. Talented, passionate people are at the heart of any successful organisation. That’s why we have worked hard to build an enviable team of experienced hands and fresh young minds. When you combine such people with the ambition, resources and determination that exists at Marussia Motors great things are possible."

"If you’re one of those skeptics that doesn’t believe in extraterrestrial life, you’re just flat wrong. Take one look at the new Mercedes-Benz Concept SF1 and try to prove it didn’t originate on another planet inhabited by a race of ultra design savvy humanoid robots. OK, you would be correct if you said that the car was designed by Kyrgyzstan native Steel Drake and that the SF1 seems to boast the sharp angles usually reserved for a Lambourghini, but even the classic Mercedes logo has undergone a design change, dropping the customary circle for a more pointed look. All antics aside, this car looks undeniably incredible, bridging the gap between super-car and spaceship that seems to be the way of the future."

"The Audi e-tron Spyder features what is without a doubt the most advanced and simultaneously the most consistent evolution of the current Audi design language, while also providing initial hints at the design language of future Audi sports cars. It reinterprets the most important design elements that already characterized the previous e-tron concept vehicles. This open-top, plug-in-hybrid two-seater combines a 221-kW (300-hp) twin-turbo V6 TDI at the rear axle and two electric motors at the front to deliver a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph), reaching 100 km/h (62.14 mph) from a standing start in just 4.4 seconds."

"Announced Friday night at the DMC Texas Open House, DMC said it plans to work with electric car startup Epic EV to get an all-electric DMC-12 into production by 2013. Epic is the company started by Aptera co-founder Chris Anthony that is working on the Torq and Amp vehicles (and some rather clever videos). Early reports say the Electric DeLorean will have a maximum speed of 125 miles per hour and offer 260 horsepower for something like $90,000-100,000. The gullwing doors should remain, but we're not sure where the motor will go (the original DeLorean used a rear-mounted engine), let alone the battery pack. This isn't the first time a DeLorean with an alternative powertrain has been talked about. Before his death in 2005, John DeLorean hinted that a hydraulic hybrid drivetrain might find a home in a relaunched DMC-12. That never happened, of course."

"When I was in my early twenties, I _really_ wanted a Nissan 350z. I thought it was the sexiest car in the world (that I could afford). It even had a little feature where the windows would roll up an extra quarter inch when you shut the door to create a better seal in the cabin and lower wind noise. This was particularly important for all of the high-speed racing I had envisioned for myself. It's probably for the best that I didn't buy a 350z because in a report that was just released by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Nissan 350z was just named the deadliest car in America. The study looked at vehicle models from 2005 to 2008 that had more than 100,000 registered vehicles and examined the driver death rate between 2006 and 2009. The Institute computes driver-only death rates because the presence of passengers varies."

"In a salute to the flimsy plastic cars that come shrink-wrapped in breakfast cereal, the Vancouver arm of digital agency Dare assembled this gigantic box of knockoff Cheerios, then put a real Honda Civic in front of it. The conceit is a bit fantastical. It's supposed to make driving seem more fun—ostensibly like playing with a toy car—and thus help British Columbia Honda peddle the Civic model. But it's mostly a clever spectacle for rubberneckers, joining a growing genre of over-the-top auto-related ad constructions."

According to reports, the happless Gallardo was purchased about six months ago by a resident of Qingdao, China. In his short period of ownership, the man has apparently had a few issues with the car. In one instance, the Lamborghini wouldn't start, so the owner had it towed to the local dealer. Upon arrival at the service bay, the owner found that the car had been damaged in transit. "This 1986 Ford RS200 is an unlikely sight in the USA in any form given that only 200 were produced, but add to that this this is one of the factory up-rated Evolution models and it is actually only one of 24 produced. This car is chassis number SFACXXBJ2CGL00087 and the quoted 3-second 0-60 times are no joke. This car is faster than the 959 and F40 produced in the same era and the price estimate is a fraction of either of those. This one will be auctioned by RM on March 12th at Amelia Island with no reserve. We want it."
