I was invited to give a talk at the OpenID Summit as a follow-up to my talk “What an RP Wants“, which I gave in February at the OpenID Design Summit. In both cases, I shared my experiences from Plaxo’s perspective as a web site that is trying to succeed at letting users sign up using accounts they already have on Google, Yahoo, and other OpenID Provider sites. This talk reviewed the progress we’ve made as a community since February, and laid out the major remaining challenges to making it a truly-successful end-to-end experience to be an OpenID Relying Party (RP). - Matthias Pfefferle

"PGP: Genutzt wird ein öffentlicher Schlüssel, mit dem jeder die Daten für den Empfänger verschlüsseln kann, und ein privater geheimer Schlüssel, den nur der Empfänger besitzt und der durch ein Kennwort geschützt ist. Nachrichten an einen Empfänger werden mit seinem öffentlichen Schlüssel verschlüsselt und können dann ausschließlich durch den privaten Schlüssel des Empfängers entschlüsselt werden. Diese Verfahren werden auch asymmetrische Verfahren genannt, da Sender und Empfänger zwei unterschiedliche Schlüssel verwenden. Ich hab keine Ahnung wie die Implementierung aussehen könnte… Deshalb finde ich es ja so interessant Eventuell könnte man die Requests zwischen Relying Party und Provider mit PGP verschlüsseln. Although this information is often public, it’s fragmented into the silos of individual websites. Wouldn’t it be a little magical if, when you signed up for a new site, the site said something like, “We notice you have a profile photo on Flickr and Twitter, would you like to use one of those or upload a new one?” I built a JavaScript library that can help you do just that. In this podcast Karl Stolley discusses his article, "Using Microformats: Gateway to the Semantic Web," which appears in the September, 2009 issue of Transactions on Professional Communication. Both PuSH and rssCloud address a fundamental flaw in the way web applications work today. Currently, getting updates on the web requires constant polling. We are big fans of open source software and standards. Whenever one of our internal projects will benefit the developer community at large, we try to make the jump by turning it into an open source project. Likewise, when we see a great open standard emerging, we do our best to stand behind it and support it.
