Responsible for Climate & Energy sector at the Danish Consulate - São Paulo, Brazil. Interest in how social media tools affect communication among stakeholders.
I changed jobs a few months back. In my new job I haven´t had the possibility to dedicate much time to social media. I have barely been surfing through the blogs I subscribe to in Google Reader, and much less hanging out over at Twitter and Friendfeed, or writing here on my own blog. The funny thing is that I haven´t really missed it. Sure, I do miss a few blogs, but its a surprisingly few. Sure, I do miss stumbling over a great heated constructive discussion over at Friendfeed, and sure, I do miss the platform of my blog to get something off of my chest. But thinking of it, I am surprised of how little I have missed from my life as a social media junkie. Tonight I am having one of the rare nights where I´m home alone. Furthermore its one of the nights where I am not up for looking at work, not up for TV or DVD´s, not up for chatting away on Facebook.... And I can´t be bothered at all with even opening Twitter. See that´s the problem. I have just been looking at my 1.000+ feeds over...

@parse_ly any chance of getting a chance to try out your service?
"Thanks a lot Jim. I have been super impressed with Squarespace in all aspects - except the commenting system, and its lack of modifications/ 3rd party support. Hopefully it will come some day. Of course there´s Backtype, but Its a different service. And then of course JS-Kit,... would be interesting to hear other Squarespace-users experience on that one. Cheers!"

"Hi Jim, yeah saw that Link earlier - but as far as I have tried it it doesn´t work. I wrote Squarespace who confirmed that its not working, but that they´re working on it. Hope to get it back. Though please let me know if you have got it to work?"

@maydbs I just hope FB will continue to let FF be innovative and not tug them away within their Big Corp. walled garden. That would be a sad blow to SM.
The full list of feeds can be overwhelming. You can search: "RT group:climate-energy" to get only items which have been Re-Twittered (good idea since many of the feeds are Twitter imports).
- Peter Efland
since there are search.twitter.com feed imports for any mention of #cop15 you could make a search in climate-energy room for: "#cop15 group:climate-energy".
- Peter Efland
Same thing just with Hopenhagen or G8: Since there are search.twitter.com feed imports for any mention of #hopenhagen and #G8 you could make a search in friendfeed for: "#G8 group:climate-energy"
- Peter Efland
Remember, when you like or comment on an item you bring it back to the top. So please "like" and "comment" to give greater exposure to your favorite items, for the room members who might not have seen the items you find important yet.

does anyone know if there's a search feature in friendfeed to remove identical links?

more search filter tricks: "comments:1 group:climate-energy" - only finds items which has been commented on.

search filter tips: "likes:1 group:climate-energy" - identifies items which has been liked at least once.

If you only want to know for example what Andrew Revkin has to say about the climate in his latest news, simply search: "dotearth group:climate-energy"

You want only the news from NYT: "NYT group:climate-energy"

Is Kate Sheppard from Grist your favorite climate commentator: find only her posts by searching: "sheppard group:climate-energy"

If you don´t want to see all the tweets, but only get the blog updates, search: "service:blog group:climate-energy"

Why I chose Twitter instead of simply importing the RSS feed: Many of the blogs in this room could either be subscribed by their blog rss feed or by Twitter profile. I chose Twitter because 1) When you comment on a twitter profile in Friendfeed, you can Cc it to become a reply on Twitter itself - hence promoting interaction more than simply importing a RSS feed. 2) Some of these blogs are also active on Twitter and not just pushing out blog posts - again, promoting interaction.
- Peter Efland
Weird: I have notticed that the search doesn´t always show the tweets if you search for individual Twittter names in the room. For example, if I only want to see tweets/items from the Carbonoffsetsdaily blog (Twitter name: CarnonNews) then I would search for: "carbonnews group:climate-energy". However, this search will sometimes only bring items when other items in the room has...

I was thinking whether or not I should include in the room the Twitter searches for #green and #climate. On one hand I thought it would be too messy as these are very popular tags, so other posts would simply drown. On the other hand I realized that a search term for: "-service:feed group:climate-energy" would give all blogs and Tweets except for the custom feeds (which I am using to import Twitter # searches). I still have figured out if #green and #climate would be too cluttered. What do you think?
- Peter Efland
Twitter search on #climatechange has now been added. Remember, to get only blogs and individual Tweets, and not Twitter # searches, search for: "-service:feed group:climate-energy"
