i think dougie maclean started out with the tannahill weavers in the 70's" and that was when i first heard him - do you know any of sean tyrell's music ? - i don't think he's known outside of his native galway - he came to greenwich village in the 60's but went back to ireland and probably goes between both countries now - there's a 1226 line poem "the midnight court", written in the...

Not that I recall. I am checking him out on YouTube now. Thanks and also thanks for introducing me to Dougie a while back. Love his sound. One can truly see how much old world has influenced the folk music of the new through these bards.

LEAP has been around for awhile now. They know what they are talking about. People have a hard time listening though. Many prefer not to have to think about how big a failure the War on Drugs has been. It comes down to something very simple. It isn't about what is right or wrong to do in our personal lives. It is about who should make those decisions. Adults should be able to decide for themselves but laws are still needed to protect the very young from exploitation.

I've always loved his poetry and music but I know that many in North America didn't. He has always had a very strong following in Europe though.

I think it has changed. He was a big hit on Austin City Limits 88-93 and is now in RR Hall of Fame. I think it had something to do with introspection. Older cultures perhaps are better at it than newer more extroverted ones. Just a thought.
