"in Italy, FriendFeed has become an extension of the blogosphere, a place where you can share thoughts and content using more than just 140 characters (which is useful if you’re speaking Italian) – a community where you can find professionals, creatives, artists, blogstars or just normal people who want to engage, sometimes arguing but in the end adding value to the conversation."

If you are a Friendfeed faithful, this is a must read. So insightful. Shoutout to all you Italian Friendfeeds - you rock. :)

Friendfeed is a niche, yet I think its new owners underestimate the impact, level of involvement and positive experience it provides for the discerning user. Italian Friendfeeders like the fact there's no dumb censorship (like on FB). That's one of the strong features of FF: its lack of constraints, of tabu topics, of self-inflicted monotonous PC. Italian FFers thrive in these conditions, while American FFers don't take full advantage of this opportunity for free speech.

I like this from Livefast: "The reason why *I* prefer it to Facebook, however, is different. I like FriendFeed because my contacts there are all people that for some reason I chose: because I like them, because I dig what they say, because I love to argue with them, whatever."
- Kevin L
@Rox, quite the contrary: FB have bought FF because they realized the full extent of its appeal on more experienced, accultured and geek users, and the motivations that spurred the latter to migrate from an active use of FB to a full-time engagement on FF. They made sure they could own it, stall its further development by anyone else (or block it altogether) and have time to mull over...

This is one of my favorite books by Diana Wynne Jones. The movie is very different from the book, though once I got used to the differences I enjoyed it too.

This is the first one of his films I saw, and I almost refused to see any of the others because I thought it was kind of dumb and bizarre all at once. Jer convinced me that Spirited Away was watchable, though, and I really enjoyed that one.

hello!....I learned again that there is a Miyazaki Anime popularity overseas. Please also view it in other works.

Lovely and stunning well made movie. Katy S - I had no idea the books were so different! Will scout them out - thanks for tip off!

Whenever somebody wants me to advise an animation film, i say "Ofcourse Miyazaki"! (And Ghibli Animations) Nobody said "I don’t like".. He is amazing!

The films absolutely are stunning - Spirited Away was my first Miyazaki anime, and I cannot stress how blown away I was. It's like being in an extended and repeatable dream, but everything is so rich you can taste it.

"Here is a bizarre bit of news coming out of the pipeline explosion in Nanjing, China that killed 13 people and injured 300, and not it is not the news that 4 people were arrested - it is this remarkable photo of monkey grabbing a puppy dog and running away from the explosion and fire."

Yeah, I've seen several different viewing angles of it, it's absolutely amazing.
- Jimminy, CoG of FF
very true Jimminy it looks differently just like Rorschach test inkblots! if you haven't by any chance noticed that dark space {depth} it also look like a head or some tree trunk top high in sky shot from a building even higher or a helicopter maybe you realize it's a sinkhole only when you see a the bottom {foundation levels} of the structure in place

Is that a body up and to the right of the hole? Perhaps struck by the falling utility pole?

all i see is "amazings" "cools" and "wows" this tells a lot about people whining about what's put in front of them there are a lot less who truly see through "facts" and know the truth & they can be on either side the rebels or the oppressors just if little details around the damaged structures p[art and life forms were visible this could have been a "mourning thread"
- ffcode
they don't even fence that off? I hope no one lives around there
