Oh it's no mistake. In usability terms it means they don't want you shutting it off. The more Genius understands what you listen to, the more accurately they can market music and other things to you. It's a genius marketing tool (pun intended). That said, I always turn it OFF.
- Dave Friedel
I usually leave it on and will use ti to create playlists for me from time to time. sometimes its makes similar choices as I would. Sometimes not. :)
- Carlos Urrutia
I turn off my genius by drinking beer.

from iPod
My genius is always off...iTunes? What's that?
- Ghworg
Usability-wise if I'd handed in something Apple-inspired as part of my MSc project I'd have fucking FAILED. Ever heard of tooltips? Or oh...I dunno, fucking labels for buttons, Apple?!
- Amy
Carlos: Oh, yes, under the 'store' menu coz that's where I'd expect something that compiles MY OWN FUCKING MUSIC into playlists for me to be. Ofc, how stupid of me. I HATE ITUNES. Aaaaaaaaaaaand BREATHE. *sits in meditation pose*
- Amy
I did use songbird. Until I got to the part where you can't use your itunes-bought songs without burning them and ripping them again. Plus everyone and their fucking dog LOVES Apple so I thought 'Give it another go'
- Amy
Plus you still need to have itunes installed to update the firmware, or to use that nike + thing (If, for some reason, I am possessed to go running in the rain I want a frigging record of it).
- Amy
C'mon, Amy, you know you want an iPhone now... *evil cackle*
- Thomas
Yes, when I have more money than sense I WILL buy one...so I can proceed to stamp on it in a very emo fashion. And send the video to Apple. With a list of my complaints.
- Amy
@Chunkygeek An eye for an eye (or something less sinister...) :D
The CSPI is only in their own interest. Check out http://fathead-movie.com/ - he's got a rebuttle on there (plus the movie itself goes into CSPI and how they try to "protect" us)...
- Thomas
Going to Glasgow for a bit tonight for a friend's b'day do but I'm not over my cold & feel zombified. :( Will be great to see her though!
I don't know what the obsession is with 3D these days, I don't want to wear silly glasses ALL the time! That said, I'm kinda impressed with this news. "All PS3 units will be firmware upgradable to 3D"
- Amy
How can someone write "This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is expert in .net and SQL" in the first line of a job advert and then follow that up with "...it would be advantageous to have been exposed to web technologies such as .Net and AJAX"?
I guess they want you *really* exposed to .NET...
- Thomas
Ohhh, I need to be nekkid with the .net? THAT's what I'm doing wrong!
- Amy
I would think if I was an expert in .NET and SQL, I might already have a job that I like. Now if there was an opening for some MVC exposure, now we're talking!
- Jerry Perez
Screw you 360. I've had it. Microsoft can eat a big one. I'm getting a PS3. No, Microsoft, let's not get a browser for the 360. Instead, let's partner with Twitter, Last.fm, and Facebook to make apps that run like 'games' inside the dashboard. That's much better than, say, putting a freaking browser in there. Hell, I'll even accept Internet freaking Explorer! Something? The hell with you.
- Fleagle
Fleagle I don't want to read into things, but I have to say you seem just an ever so slightly unhappy with them. Just a teeeeeeny bit.
- Dave Friedel
Fleagle: PS3 has facebook too, apparently. Although I've not updated yet so I dunno what it's like. No twitter yet, and no Raptr capability beyond manual entry (if you're into that kinda thing)
- Amy
That's the thing: You don't need Facebook, Twitter, etc. integration when you've already got a browser. Microsoft already has the browser patent (though it's the worst one), yet refuse to integrate it. Yes, all hyperbole aside, I hate them.
- Fleagle
Might give browsing on the PS3 another shot with Firefox. I've used the browser on the PS3 before and I am not a fan. I'd rather do it on the iPhone than a console.
- Jerry Perez
I suppose, but I think it's supposed to automagically update your facebook status (if you so choose). I used the browser to watch BBC iplayer (before the iplayer update), can't say I like the existing browsing much tho. Firefox would be an improvement. So would getting a keyboard...I need to do that.
- Amy
If Hulu wasn't blocked thru the PS3 then it would be a major improvement.
- Jerry Perez
I don't get Hulu here anyway (Well, at least I've yet to come across anything it'll actually let me view)
- Amy
