Be glad you don't live in Ottery St Mary in england. apparently they have kids run around with a barrel of tar that is on fire for Guy Fawkes day.
- Carlos Urrutia
I suspect they never made it across the pond. I was listening to 'Love is only a feeling' (http://www.youtube.com/watch...) when this occurred to me.
- Amy
Oh probably, but I wouldn't be able to use it anyway. Either that or I'd need to wander round Glasgow on my own all night which isn't exactly the smart girl's choice of options :)
- Amy
Question: generally how far above and below your own age do you deem acceptable to date? (No particular reason other than curiosity)
Iiiiiiiiiinteresting, and you're all guys, right? On paper I'd probably want to agree with John (dendroica) but...I'm 27 and I definitely don't think I'd go younger than 21, I don't know about up the way, maybe +10.
- Amy
I think women in general seem to think '-5/+10' or thereabouts, which is kinda interesting. (Maybe only up to a certain age, mind you. And maybe it's just the women I know. I have one friend who's bf is at least +12, another who's is +10.)
- Amy
I would date guys who are 15 years older than me; probably one year younger.
- Shevonne
Hehe, so weird that guys/girls are opposites in that way. Although, not surprising.
- Amy
Not a clue. I wouldn't imagine so - there'll be people who don't get the glasses, even though they're free.
- Amy
Don't you already have the silly glasses anyways? :)
- Carlos Urrutia
Depends, it might be those red/green glasses
- Amy
Wonderful. Amy having a psychotic episode. This should be fun.
- Dave Friedel
yup, even better if we can record it :)
- Carlos Urrutia
lol, it's blue and red glasses. Although, frankly, they make everything look so frigging psychadelic I'm not sure I could wear them for a whole show. We'll see, it starts on the 16th or something. Also, I will NOT be having any psychotic episodes - those only happen when I come into contact with apple fanboys/itunes or at 'special' times.
- Amy
ok, keep away from you rughtly every 30 days, got it.
- Carlos Urrutia
Well, I know, that's why I was awaiting the tour news so I could go see him. :) I don't mean to single him out in particular since his email just says, 'European tour....yadda yadda...starting in the UK' I mean musicians in general, it happens quite frequently.
- Amy
That's like a North American tour with 20 dates in the US and 1 in Canada.
- Dave Friedel
Yeah, those Canadians would be getting a pretty bum deal there! :)
- Amy
It's just Texas - the Wisconsin of the South... :)
- Thomas
Hahahahah. Cameras may also steal your soul!
- Mo Kargas
Her reasons may be atypical, but FWIW, with very few non-felony-conviction exceptions, I don't think anyone should be forced to divulge their biometrics to anyone.
- LogEx
Thomas: You and Dave are spoiling my aspirations of visiting Texas and being greeted by nothing more than hot cowboys and a massive BBQ. Now, apparently I'm going to get shot, and possibly burnt at the stake if this stuff is anything to go by!
- Amy
LogEx: TBH, I don't really see the big deal with fingerprints (maybe I'm super-naiive). Now, if they wanted a sample of her blood or something, that'd be a different story. I got mine taken when entering the US on holiday and can't say I was bothered by it.
- Amy
As I recall, its a republican state, so you just might anyways :)
- Carlos Urrutia
Biometrics are not revocable. If you have my thumbprint, you can make a gelatin thumb that will fool most thumb scanners. You can plant my thumbprints at the scene of a crime. You can find my thumbprints on my ballots. etc. And you can't get a new thumbprint. I think she's stretching it, but I can totally understand why she's not happy about it.
- Wirehead
My reasons are similar to what Wirehead stated, and the key being "Biometrics are not revocable". But it's not only direct abuses. Databases are prone to leaks and there's no telling where the data will end up. When huge corporations and government agencies and departments have trouble keeping their data secure, I have very little hope for an elementary school to be able to keep its...
- LogEx
Wow, you guys are paranoid. Hehe. :) Wirehead kinda brought up the reason why I'm not so bothered: they could get them anywhere. And yeah, you could get set up, but... if the government REALLY wanted to do that to you, I don't think they'd let a tiny detail like not having your fingerprints get in the way. I think blood/DNA is different, but fingerprints...*shrug*
- Amy
@Thomas. Hilarious. First time I've ever heard that, and I plan to use it. I will give you full credit of course.
