It says I should be a boring, generic Christian - and I am! :oD

It's good to know I'm not an idiot. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Oh, so that was the master plan? 1. Declare friendfeed dead 2. Idiots leave. 3. Enjoy the good stuff without them around any more.
- April Russo (app103)
April, that's not a bad plan actually. Finally Robert's master plan is becoming clear ;)
- Glenn Slaven
April: bbbbwwwwaaaahhhhhhhaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaaa. Said while rubbing hands together in evil fashion.
- Robert Scoble
Keith: I never left. I've been here almost every day since July. I have reduced the number of hours I spend here from about 10 to 10 minutes, though. :-)
- Robert Scoble
Just JOkkkkkking, you know I <3 you LG =;o)

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111eleven

great to see you back here at friendfeed.. it's still rocking in it's own way.. welcome back and great new year
- Jaap Willem
I've found even if they're not idiots there are some times people that are just so negative or draining you have to block them, at least for a short period. I wish there was a way to do that which wasn't offensive.
- Jesse Stay
Hey Jessie - was hangin' with Damon today and your name came up. Damon ROCKS MY SOCKS.

@jessethey should get indeed like a mute button for 30 days or something??

"jQuery has been one of the more popular JavaScript Framework that emphasizes interaction between JavaScript and HTML. Many developers like to experiment with it because it is fast and easy to use. 2009 has been a very exciting year for most of the open source projects, blogs and businesses. Over this past year, there has been tremendous growth in the jQuery community. jQuery released version 1.3 in January 2009 and more plugins have been appearing online as well."

It's an heirloom, MDV. My grandfather's on my father's side. I have only worn it on a few occasions. 2003 for my father's funeral was the last time. It's quite exquisite: woven black wool exterior with a red silk lining.

Make it make a comeback. You could be a trendsetter. I like the idea of a shorter cape type of thing. I can see what Jennifer is saying about the mud issue.

I'd imagine you could do some pretty cool shit with them now, using that magnet clasp technology from Scott eVest.

It is indeed. I love the leather and wood trim everywhere. Very nice on the eyes. :D

One thing this car definitely appeals to with me is my love of data and gadgets. It has all these displays that tell me my current gas mileage, how long till I have to fill up, if my doors are open, trunk open, oil life %, filter %, etc.

I just gave up standard shift in deference to my increasing feebleness. Soothed my pride by getting a Prius.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
My previous car was a stick shift. Now I drive an automatic (a hybrid) which took some getting used to.
- imabonehead
I've never owned an automatic. I feel weird and somewhat unsafe driving them. With my increasing age though, I keep thinking it would be nice to just sit there and have the car drive me with minimal input from me. Laid back... with my mind on my money and my money on my mind... (sorry, couldn't help it... :D)
- Adrian
In my case it was carpal tunnel syndrome that did me in. Hands going numb is not a good thing when driving a stick. And arthritis is not a good thing when engaging the clutch. Now I'm used to the automatic except I occasionally reach for the stick at stoplights.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
Me too when driving rentals... I call it "ghost clutch syndrome"
- Adrian
I drove manual for years. It's only been recently that I purchased an automatic (my smart). Even my Honda CR-V was manual. I had to special order it because they didn't make many manual-transmission CR-V's.
- Jason Huebel
I've never owned an automatic either, always manual... but my next car will likely be a hybrid. No more stick shift. It makes me a little sad.
- DGentry
I bet the delivery on that was a bitch! Also, Nice Car!
- Joe Pierce
You need a purple pimp's hat now Sean. Then change your name to "A Pimp Named Haggis" Nice ride!

If it's a British TV series, you have your answer right there...
- Walt Crawford
if it was i could kinda of understand it, but it isn't it...it's just ABC being stupid
- Sir Shuping
Oh, well, then it's ABC being stupid. That's another common ailment. (Or just ambition--seems to me Star Trek started out at $99/season, and is still super-expensive.)
- Walt Crawford
"Despite its toaster moniker, Le Toaster Vision is really more of a vertical toaster oven, using two toaster elements per side that are positioned above and below the slices of bread. Reflectors behind the elements make sure that the bread gets toasted evenly while keeping the windowed sides (mostly) clear to see through."

"One of the most persistent myths about Windows is that you need to reinstall the operating system regularly to keep it running at top performance. Let's take a look at the real problem and how to fix it. Today we're talking about the myth that Windows slows down over time, and how to solve the problem. The reality is that Windows doesn't slow down if you just take care of your PC a little more. Follow these procedures, and you won't have to wonder if spending hours backing up data, installing from disc, and re-installing your essential applications is really necessary."

While it's true that you can happily run a Windows installation for years if you simply don't install every malware under the sun. For example my Windows 2000 install, which was my primary machine, ran for years with uptimes of over a year regularly. However, with XP things were a little less tight and I can only blame the OS itself. Sometimes even the best constant gardener will...

I had an XP Pro install that lasted from 2003 - 2007 through 2 HDD crashes. When I finally gave up on it the reason was dead hardware, not the OS. No reinstallations for me
- LANjackal
from IM
Sure, if you don't ever install any software Windows won't slow down. Kinda impractical advice for most people though.
- Ghworg
It's not installing software that hurts, it's running extraneous processes and services that does. Too many programs still default to starting with the OS at boot, and too few users check the options to disable that
- LANjackal

I would suggest taking a driveimage or acronis trueimage software to take a snapshot of everything in its pristine glory after installation and reinstall that disk image when things begin to slow down...

i'm liking the two thumbs, the kindle has yet to impress me, :/
- chaz2b
I would probably not have ever purchased one myself, but I received it as a gift, and I have to say that I like reading on it. I didn't think I would
- Bren -- feeling merry
"The Botany of Desire" by Michael Pollan, "Superfreakanomics," "What the Dog Saw" by Malcolm Gladwell, "Ad Hoc at Home," "The NYT Book of Essential Knowledge" ... I guess it was only 5 ;)

Is it any fun reading on it? I'm still a fan of paper, but I would love to try.
- Faraz Mullick
I'd like to try one myself but that would mean I'd have time to read... which I don't... ever... *le sigh*... In other news: HEY PEA!!!!! HOW ARE YOU????? *jumps up and down in hopes that Patricia notices*
- MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS
Faraz: I like it, so far. I will always love "real" books, because of the feel of paper, the smell, the way they tell a story beyond the printed words- the creased pages, the coffee stains, notes in the margins...

I want a Kindle, I didn't think I did, but when I think about the convenience of it, I get woozy with delight. Will hold off to see what it is exactly Apple has up their sleeve, but kudos for you with such a generous gift. Tell me more about this new Rushdie.

I don't know much, so far D. As usual, the story is being revealed very slowly. The writing is beautiful, though. I am excited to see where he goes with it. "Shalimar the Clown" is one of my fav novels ever, so my expectations are high.

I read Midnight's Children years ago...gonna probably start a re-read it in a couple days or so. I liked that and Haroun and the Sea of Stories; haven't read Shalimar, but will keep it on notice.

Sounds like a fun list, Bren. Let us know what you think about "Ad Hoc at Home." I was considering it for a friend.
