The 'safety' concern is silly. Most new cars today have fairly quiet engines. The sound you typically hear as a car passes is not its engine but the sound of the tires on the pavement. Until we have quiet wheel-less hovering electric cars I think we can avoid artificially adding external noise to our vehicles. - Dylan Parker
