ben queen dinleyen bir taksiciyle karşılaşmışrım.
- seda
Benimki daha enteresan bindiğim dolmuşta amcam best of judas priest cd sini gözümün önünde player a takmıştı. Direk dağılmıştım.
- wincih (CRYPTOPUNK)
adamın wagner dinlemesi değil ki mesele.. wagner'i ne amaçla dinleyip, nasıl tanıdığı, wagner şarkıcı... hitler'in en sevdiği..... hitler seviyosa biz de severiz???
- Bahriye
almanlar dinleyince biz de dinlemiş sayıldık..

- serra

- yusufunalan
- Bahriye
hımm kültürlü numarası yapıp bişey bilmeyen bi taksici mi yani :)
- Ness
benimle OC, how i met your mother ve the big bang theory muhabbeti yapan taksiciyle, "yabancı müzik mi dinlersin abla, ingilizce? fransızca?" diyen taksici gibi olmuş.. çok enteresan insanlar var istanbul taksilerinde:)
- Neşe Uyanık
Türkiye IMF ile anlaşmaya yakın olduğunu açıkladı. Bu gidişle Wagner dinleyen, minibüs durağında Rodrigez çalan şoförlerin sayısında artış kaçınılmaz
- onderkiremitci
bence, "hitler de bunu dinliyordu, beni rahatsız etmiyor hitler mitler, sizi rahatsız eder miiğ?" gibilerinden sormuş.
- Parfe
Taksici 85 yaş ve üzeriyse kaçak nazilerden biri olabilir plakayı almakta fayda var :)
- Sam Takoy (JustAddWater)
Son zamlarla, acısından o da müslüm dinlemeye başlayabilir :)
- Onur Yalazı
Taksici: "Abi bence bu kriz Greenspan'in sucu, faizleri dusure dusure ekonomik dengeler alt ust etti. Orhan Pamuk bence Kurtler konusunda hakli be abi, Nobel'i Obama'dan daha fazla hak ettigini dusunuyorum... Pipo rahatsiz ediyorsa sondurebilirim? ..... What do you know? Valleywag got everything wrong. Google is hiring, not laying off. Also, our interview scores actually correlate very well with on-the-job performance. Peter Seibel asked me if there was anything counterintuitive about the process and I said that people who got one low score but were hired anyway did well on-the-job. To me, that means the interview process is doing very well, not that it is broken. It means that we don't let one bad interview blackball a candidate. We'll keep interviewing, keep hiring, and keep analyzing the results to improve the process. And I guess Valleywag will keep doing what they do...
- Peter Norvig

Further, while you hired a rare few people who got "1" scores on one their interviews, you rejected 99 percent of those people, and you have no idea how they would have performed. Those you did hire turned out to be top performers. Sounds broken to me. (I am the author of the Valleywag post in question.)
- Ryan Tate
Hi Ryan, thanks for commenting. First: we get over 1000 resumes a day. We can't hire all of them. I am painfully aware that a few of the people we don't hire would be as good or better than a few of the people we do. I feel bad for the people we have to reject who are equally qualified, but that is the nature of uncertain decision-making. Now what I said in the Seibel interview: we try...

It's a great shirt. Google is tops. No system is perfect -- so long as there's a weighting for intangibles and accounting for style differences between interviewer and interviewee, all should be fine.
- Christopher Galtenberg
Bump. Maybe Ryan didn't get a chance to see that you'd responded, Peter.
- Matt Cutts
Could you recommend any literature on data driven hiring practices? Google seems to use many analogical reasoning questions for screening applicants. It would be interesting if there was a relationship between analogical reasoning and productivity.
- Brandon Smietana
Peter, did you ever read Malcolm Gladwell's book Blink? Seems to me the other piece of the hiring process to analyze is the cost-benefit analysis - is it worth doing so many interviews and so much testing if people's first hunch is often the best indicator? (Which isn't exactly what Gladwell said, but partially).
- Laura Norvig
I'm very suspicious of relying on the first hunch. If you hired everyone based on your first hunches, you would discover that most of the time you are wrong. I've lost count of the number of times I've interviewed someone (either on-site or as a second phone interview), and learned that the previous interviewer did not ask them to write code, despite the position being one that required...

Then I would like to kindly offer up a report of my 'everyone' privacy setting not making status updates available on my public, world viewable profile (even though FB warns me every time that it will).
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
cool you`re in San Mateo now at Facebook!!!!!
- sofarsoShawn
Mike, in your privacy settings there are options to make profile, status updates, etc. viewable to 'everyone'. The privacy FAQ on FB says setting it to 'everyone' will make those items viewable to the entire internet, even people without a FB account. That is not, however, what is actually happening.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Benjamin, there is this bug - I can't get "facebook.com/torque" - can you help me?
- τorƍue
You can start with the email notifications! ;) They aint like the FF ones.
- Kreg Steppe
Here's one: when someone sends you a friend request, there's a box you check to say if you want that person to be in your feed. Regardless of whether that box is checked or not, the person will show up in your feed. That is annoying

If you seek Zuckerbum....give him a swift kick in the nuts for me...no no, just kidding, tell him hey, from Shawn.

Benjamin, considering your expertise, I'll take a look at Facebook's mobile interface and see if improvements are warranted.

ok, their real time search engine suck. and what they are using bing for web search?!!

One other Ben..when you go to your friends list and check to add them to your SMS list, it doesn't take the first two or three times...Eventually it does but it's very frustrating to have to keep going back and adding friends to your SMS list..
- Bill Heslin
Tina, ah, that was why I asked. I was playing with those settings and tried it from logged out browsers and was like WTH? Does "everyone" mean "everyone on facebook"? Guess so.
- mikepk
Hilarious. sorry. No that I doubt your enthusiasm ONE BIT.

Ummm... if you get started on this, you may have to set up a cot at work... you won't be going home for a while...

Yes, Paula W. Truth. Get a comfy one for the body. The brain will compensate for sleep deprivation. Eventually.

Could you start by reverting to the previous version of their UI? No, seriously! So many people I know (myself included) no longer use FB because it's too easy to miss things. The previous timeline view was much easier

I'm going to start calling you Bug instead of Dude. Nahhh, you'll always be my dude, Dude.

Can you fix the annoying "Write a Comment" tooltip? It stays up WHILE you are commenting (sometimes covering your comment text).

Same here Pandu. I'd like a Symbian FriendFeed application more, though

Tyson, have you been reading my mind?? xD Although since Ben's talking about FB, I limit my post to FB. And besides, for the time being, http://www.fftogo.com/ is sufficient for my needs :-)

If I eat brains, do I become smarter? If I eat beets, do I become redder? If I eat muscles, do I become stronger? But everyone seems to believe that if I eat fat, I become fatter.
(a) some cultures do believe eating brains makes you smarter, (b) already answered, (c) yes, the protein of the muscles will promote muscles in you, & (d) if you eat lots of fat, you will get fatter, :)
- chaz2b
Consuming more calories than you burn will make you fat. Therefore, too much protein, fat, or carbs will make you fat. And of those 3, fat has the most calories per gram and carbs have the least. A protein deficiency can weaken your muscles (remember that your heart is a muscle). A carb deficiency causes low blood sugar (ask a diabetic what that does to a person's brain). A fat...

- April Russo (app103)
If you were to starve yourself, living only on water, within 12-48 hours you would begin to feel the effects of the carb deficiency, as you begin to experience headaches, nausea, dizziness, and lethargy. Keep starving yourself till the protein deficiency begins to affect you, and as your muscles waste away you will find it more difficult to stand, walk, and even breathe. Continue to starve yourself and you'd probably be dead before the lack of fat soluble vitamins begin to cause things like blindness.
- April Russo (app103)
I'm not sure that it is a _belief_ per se. I have heard that there is some scientific evidence...

“Wait for Me”, Moby'nin bir önceki albümü “Last Night”tan çok farklı.

Have you tried yerba mate? It is an Argentinian tea that is quite tasty. Still not as flavorful as coffee though. I definitely like coffee best.

chai is the gateway drug 2 coffee. C introduced me to chai when we first started dating and I LOVE it. now I drink mochas, too. :)
- Elaine Nelson
Non-coffee drinker as well. Chai Latte has been my frou-frou drink, but I do not see it leading to full-on coffee drinking. bleh!
- JA Castillo
Interesting... I've been drinking what you call chai latte (or "čaj sa mlekom" as it's called in Serbia) as a kid, long before I had my first cup of coffee. :-)
- Nenad Nikolic
Elaine stole my comment, plucked it right from mind in her first sentence =)
- Micah Wittman
My kids have become little chai snobs. They're no longer content with the (admittedly terrible) instant stuff. I figure by the time they're in high school, I'll have to actually cook the spices in the milk.
- ha3rvey (business time)
@darren: it is indeed the hindi word for tea.But there is no indian "chai latte"

"Lindenbaum says the platform that’s closest to Heroku’s is probably the Google App Engine, but there are two key differences. For one thing, rather than supporting a swath of languages, Heroku is focused on delivering the best experience for Ruby on Rails, a framework that’s known for fast development. (App Engine currently supports Python and Java, with plans to add more languages.) Also, Heroku is open, meaning that it’s easy to move apps and data in and out of its platform, while App Engine includes a number of proprietary technologies that make that more difficult."

These differentiators don't sound promising. Better import/ export utilities are on the GAE roadmap. There is also some overlap here with EngineYard, and perhaps 1 or 2 others.

DelayedJob and especially their upcoming AMQP support are amazing. Great features!
- ropiku
Just saw them at Under the Radar and it looks very cool.
- Robert Scoble
Anyone who hasn't tried to deploy a rails app with heroku should check it out. It is extremely easy. Sure I can do my own ec2 management, but I think I would rather pay a little more to avoid the hassel. Database management alone with their simple system could be worth the extra cost.
