first I've heard of it. will Six from Blossom guest star?
- jbrotherlove
I'm really looking forward to this miniseries. I watched the original a lot as a kid and have a lot of very bizarre memories of it. It was surreal and mysterious before I knew what those things even meant.

Unless it is 'for Vengence' I have no interest in V. I do hope they can make a good remake of The Prisoner, but it was such a quirky product of its time I'm not sure it'll work today, especially if they try to make it 'mainstream'.

so i broke into the palace, with a sponge and a rusty spanner. she said "eh, i know you and you cannot sing" I said, "that's nothing you should hear me play the piano"

Yay, Katy! I like your style. :-)) I heart Mr. Steven Patrick Morrissey. Derrick, thanks for the link. I remember reading an article about that doc.

To Whom It May Concern, If I was writing a movie based around the current scene at FriendFeed, I would cast you as the big, evil corporation and all of us FriendFeeders as the people at the community centre standing in the way of ‘progress’. But I don’t write movies and, frankly, Channel 7 News isn’t [...]
- Johnny Worthington
"FriendFeed is more than a few noisy tech bloggers. While I agree that there is thick filling of tech and social media content here, it sits on a delicious base of personalities and personal connections. Over the 18 months I have been here, I have seen births, deaths and marriages. I have watched children grow, others fight cancer, couples fall in love and felt very real support through my own family issues. I have emotional currency in here, and I am sorely in debt."
- Roberto Bonini
Thought Provoking. They are making a movie about FaceBook, so why not FriendFeed, that is the one I would rather queue for.
- Kevin J Hatton
Robert Scoble's recent words about the future of FriendFeed were meant as a call to arms by him (although that has just become clear). This is my first salvo...
- Johnny Worthington
Thank you for serving up this good food for thought and call for action! Here is a meme that might be helpful for the effort - while "FriendFeed: the Company" may be history ... "FriendFeed the Concept" may be the future. It may make as good a verb as it does a noun - like "to google" has become synonymous with search, "to friendfeed" can become the core SN function. Maybe some motivation for FF owners to guide their legacy to this logical conclusion.
- Dan Freeman
I have a feeling I'm being gently shepherded to Facebook. The problem is, I use Facebook for real ife friends and family, and high school classmates. So I don't quite know how to make the transistion.

Johnny - I am new to FF (and most all social media) and arrived only due to the influence of a friend that I wanted to follow (a few months ago I didn't even know what "follow" meant!) ....what I found was an interesting, informative, less commercial site that I now go to numerous times a day. I think your letter precisely expressed the sentiments of most FF'ers new and old....I hope someone was listening!! Thanks for the great effort and I, for one, second that emotion!
- Sharland Allen
Because I'm not all scripty and junk the comment I made over on Johnny's blog won't come over here, so I've copied it instead: "Well said, Johnny. For the record I NEVER have said that FriendFeed is in danger of disappearing. At least not soon. I'm not worried about that. If I were worried about the servers being turned off I'd stop using this as an aggregator too. Right now I'm bringing all my Twitter Favorites in here which makes them searchable (they aren't searchable on Twitter). That's a HUGE advantage to FriendFeed for the moment. But I know Facebook and Twitter are working on search and Twitter and Facebook just made a deal with Bing.
- Robert Scoble
SuperMassive FistBump to you Sir! Your letter said it all perfectly.

SCREW YOU HAGGIS... I wax me legs, I spend hours in the hairdressers and weeks doing my makeup for you... YOU BASTARD... I HATE YOU... *runs off sobbing*
- Johnny Worthington
Oh I have you in another list Johnny: Crossdressing Australians of FF.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Aww, I hope I'm not offending anyone by not including them on the list. Many times I just go by the avatar and if it's a cartoon or something it's hard to tell and I won't put on here, and also these are just *my* personal tastes. Everyone has different types!
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Any woman with the brass to be on FF is a hottie in my book.
- Chris Baskind
Wow - that'd be a drag to be on a list like that. Still, as I always say, if you want to get a lot of followers get a hot chick avatar. It's sad but it's iJustine. True! I mean true. It's sad but it's true.
- Ciaoenrico
Ciaoenrico I kinda take offense to that. My avatar is me, it's my face and I shared it on FF after a LOT of thought about it (plus some gender confusion, but that's another story). Because a woman might be considered attractive she *shouldn't* user her face as an avatar otherwise she's just trying to get followers? Bull crap, and sexist to boot.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Agreed, Tina. That certainly wasn't the point of this list - it was merely a way to point out all of my FF crushes at once. I hope no one takes offense to it. :(
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I'm offended....I wasn't on this effing list!!
- jamar78
Sean, I'm not offended, personally. I find it rather amusing. The title of this post, to me, however, seemed rather "definitive". YMMV. :D
- Helen Sventitsky
I think I'm due for a new picture. I've used the same one since joining.
- Rochelle
Rochelle, you had that other one, the B&W one of you smiling. That was great, too
- Josh Haley
Quite a collection. There should be a male list too but then that could lead to a match-making game and apps being developed and other memes ... and ... oh dear ...
- Amani
Dammit.. I'm about to delete this post. It was not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings. :(
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I don't think it's a problem pointing out your crushes, hun. I think it's the fact that it's titled "The Hotties of FriendFeed" that can make people kind of uncomfy. That comes across as a direct judgment of peoples' looks, even though we know you didn't mean it that way.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
@Sean don't ever apologize for your actions.
- Shevonne
Okay, I think I understand.. Thanks Amanda.. I just updated the title, hopefully it will let everyone know that this is my own personal list, and by no means a judgement of anyone.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
It's not my scene, but hey...whatevs. It just feels a little meat market-ish to me. People aren't avatars, and I know a couple on the list who wouldn't be proud of being reduced to a FF hottie on someone's list.
- Derrick
Derrick - But a lot of the stuff you post to the really gay room is pretty meat market-ish. Just because they're professional models it's okay to objectify them? We naturally objectify each other because we naturally are sexual creatures. I'm not offended by being on this list, but I don't like being objectified and I think what Haggis has done is a sweet gesture, not a gesture of blind testosterone rubbing one out.
- Mattie Kenny
Didn't anyone see me grab the popcorn earlier? That's your 1st clue.
- Josh Haley
Sean you created a monster didn't you....hehe
- jamar78
Ugh.. no kidding.. I guarantee this list will never be mentioned again outside of these posts. I think i'm gonna unplug for a while and let this all die down.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)

don't let it get to you Sean....all that matters is that you had no malicious intent which you didn't
- jamar78
**blushes** - gee thanks. :) And go hide for a while, Sean... it'll all blow over.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
nice list, i have about half of these in a group called "sexy people"
- sean percival
Mattie, any pics I post in the Really Gay Room are A) *in* the Really Gay Room, and B) pictures culled from sites that are meat-marketish to begin with. I would never post pics of Scoble or Louis Gray and say, "oh these are guys I'd like to see naked". And I'm not knocking Sean. I freakin' love Sean. But I also know that there are women on the list who've worked hard at getting to where they are in life and in their careers and to be thought of as a pin-up on FF isn't their bag.
- Derrick
It's about time you chimed in Leather...LMAO...love it...haha
- jamar78
I don't see how posting this in a room would make it any different a situation, Derrick. I don't think that Sean ever said he wanted to see any of the women on the list naked. Is that something I skipped over while scanning the comments? If he said that, then yes. This list is pretty lame. But being admired for your beauty isn't bad. Especially since (for me at least) being a hottie entails being incredibly intelligent and engaging.
- Mattie Kenny
Mattie, that's exactly what I consider a hottie. Attractiveness is only part of the factor. Intelligence, a sense of humor, and many other things go into that equation.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
+100 Mattie -- There's always a fine line of taste when these things come into play. These are our normal avatar pics, not semi-nude pics, not anything gratuitous. That's what i think keeps it on the good side of the line. It's really just an innocent list.
- Lindsey is Fierce!
Mattie, I'm not going to fight with you over this. If you want to split ends, say I'm a hypocrite, or engage in double standards, feel free. I don't care. Very simply, I know people who don't want to be referred to as hotties. By anyone. I see them on the list. I speak up. That's it. There are 50 people in the RGR, maybe 20 people see it regularly. That's a HUGE difference than the numbers of people who sub to the home feed. But you know what? Forget I even opened my mouth. Apparently I've become a prude...
- Derrick
That's not what I'm saying, Derrick. Now I understand what you meant by putting the photos up in the RGR versus what Haggis did. Did these women speak up for themselves and say they don't appreciate being called attractive?
- Mattie Kenny
<3 Derrick.. I appreciate what you are saying, and think it's very commendable that you are seeing this from an angle I didn't really see. I know you only have the best intentions with what you are saying. Please no more fighting over this..
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I just happen to know them, Mattie. And I didn't say they didn't appreciate being called attractive. I said they, knowing them as I do, woudn't appreciate being culled up on a list and pointed out for the world to ogle.
- Derrick
Sean, you know how I feel about you bud, and I'm not putting you on blast. Consider my hands washed of it.
- Derrick
Mattie, how about you look at it from the flip side...those women who DIDN'T make the list and don't have the benefit of feeling all bubbly inside because they've been deemed "attractive"? It's all well and good when you're on the winning team, apparently.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
yeah Sean you are a good person....don't beat yourself up about it
- jamar78
Although you better take my sis' out this damn list!! hehe
- jamar78
Amanda - I don't think not being on the list deems you unattractive and I don't think Haggis is the be all end all of who is or is not attractive. Wow. I'm on the list. BFD. I don't feel or bubbly inside, nor did I take it very seriously. It didn't blip in my radar until I saw people taking major offense to Haggis having posted the list, in which case I looked at it & was surprised to see myself there. I'm not on any "team".
- Mattie Kenny
Haggis, I love the conversations you spawn... feel free to include me in future provocative topics. ~xxxooo~

I would like to state for the record, should there be a men's list...I would like to opt out. That is all, thank you.

- Matthew DeVries
Ok I am not the brightest crayon in the box so I want to know how the hell do you see a list of people like that. I have different lists but where do I go to see all in just that one list?
- Brandy Lea
Brandy, you see this view when you go into one of your lists then select to Add/Remove friends.
- Kol Tregaskes
I think what Brandy is asking is if she can see someone else's list, which we can't. Haggis might have made a list that is friendfeed.com/list/hotties and he'll see it when he's logged in, but no one else would see it if they went to that same URL. He wouldn't even see it if he logged out and went to that URL.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I don't think I was subscribed to you when I made this list, Jeunelle. This is almost a year old! :D
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Don't misunderstand what I mean. I mean I am thankful I didn't make the list period. PRAISE THE LORD :)
- Jeunelle Foster
We should have an Academy Award of FriendFeed or something. That I would have a long ass speech prepared telling everybody how I'd like to thank all the little people who were responsible for me winning that award and it should be sponsored by Mashable and FFundercats :)

How the FF did I miss this thread? Jan 27th??? Thank you! That's a huge compliment. And since it's so old, it's a fun time capsule too.

Now, now, Jeff. I mentioned in the article that I typically prefer native apps or Web apps to AIR apps, but this one is very interesting, at least to me. I dig it.
- Louis Gray
im just trying to be funny...hehe good post btw.
- (jeff)isageek
ah! and I was wondering why my twitter vanity search hit on that topic as I do not like the air apps. but grouping actually would be a reason to try it out. problem: as long as twitter decimates the request rates it is unreliable, but a first step in the right direction. will download it now ;)
- Nicole Simon
Louis, I think you're right - there is still innovation happening around Twitter, fortunately. The fact is there is still a huge audience on Twitter and that audience still has the potential to be monetized. I'm even building something around Twitter at the moment. There is still that threat though, that developers could leave if Twitter keeps neglecting them - it's in the back of the mind
- Jesse Stay
"feels" like Twhirl. Wish it had FF support...if it does it wasn't obvious from the website. I agree with others that I'd really like to see these Adobe air apps with some better skins

"Now, now, Jeff. I mentioned in the article that I typically prefer native apps or Web apps to AIR apps, but this one is very interesting, at least to me." - That's part of why I like the platform so much. The most damning thing is that no one from the FriendFeed team or Facebook has joined the community here that is talking about it to tell us what's happening in the future. That, more than anything I've written or said communicates the future of FriendFeed.
I keep hoping someone will tell me I'm wrong and will post a slide deck about the future of FriendFeed. But the lack of information is confirming what I'm hearing from my sources.
- Robert Scoble
Anika: geeks in both companies are online and working on a Sunday and last night is NOT the first time I've been talking about the lack of direction here. Also, over the last week lots of blogs have been posting about the traffic hit that FriendFeed has already seen.
- Robert Scoble
If there really was a team working on FriendFeed you BET they would contact us on a Sunday. They used to in this old days.
- Robert Scoble
Remember, Facebook has a PR team of more than 10 people. You think they aren't watching what people are saying about Facebook nearly 24/7? Not in my experience. They are the most engaged PR team in a new company I know of.
- Robert Scoble
The reality is that this is still a very useful service, and people stay because of the functionality and the community. There is no other service out there that accomplishes what this one does. There is still nowhere else to go.
- LogEx
LogEx: that's true, but it's also true that most people will go places where there's a clear future. Unless it's just to post non-consequential things. Me? This is both my fun time (which is why I'm still here) as well as my business (I won't be betting any of my business decisions on doing stuff here because of this lack of direction which tells me that no one is really working on FriendFeed actively anymore).
- Robert Scoble
Robert, I understand the perhaps reasonable conclusions you're reaching, but breaking the silence could send too much signal to FB's competition when they'd rather send more silence which ends up, really, being noise.
- Micah Wittman
FriendFeed is like an old dying dog left out in the pasture alone; abandoned by its Master to die in the silence.
- Susan Beebe
from BuddyFeed
Most social network content is ephemeral. If people really want their stuff to have a clear future, they should own and host it on their own domains.
- LogEx
Robert, so maybe you're not giving their PR _enough_ credit. It's speculation on my part, granted.
- Micah Wittman
Micah: sorry, that dog don't run. Healthy companies signal future directions, even under NDA. It would be pretty easy to meet with a few members of the community, NDA them, and tell them what's going on. If Louis Gray came on here and told me he's under NDA and that I'm wrong then I'd feel much better. The truth is I've talked with people inside Facebook and I know what the former FriendFeed team is working on. Hint: it isn't FriendFeed.
- Robert Scoble
I still wish they'd make it open source or something so that people could continue to develop on it. :S
- Her Lindsay-ness
Susan, I don't think "human master - canine pooch" analogy really applies to Friendfeed team - community that's formed.
- Micah Wittman
By the way, Facebook meets with bloggers/journalists all the time to give us secret hints at what's coming. I've been to Facebook several times this year for just that. Facebook has no serious competition, by the way, so they don't make PR decisions based on what Twitter is doing.
- Robert Scoble
I guess I'm not most people then. If I find something that works, I prefer to stay put as long as it meets my needs. New things are nice, but I don't have time to constantly try out new services to see if they are better that what I am presently using. (That's why I follow people like Robert ;-)) The new shiny service would have to be significantly better than what I presenlty use to make me want to switch.
- Jeff P. Henderson
Do you have any services that offer the same functionality, are widely available, and actually have a future, Robert? How about offering a solution for once instead of just bitching?
- LANjackal
Robert. Can you reveal the information you have from your sources. Discussions where one person has information they won't reveal is frankly frustrating. If you have some inside knowledge yet continue to make statements like this and FriendFeed is dead? then it really is frustrating to the community.
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
If your business is posting to social media, and you think your content is "consequential" based on how long it will be around on the web ... I think you've misunderstood the current moment in social media.
- Joel Bennett
There's much less interaction than there used to be - but I still have faith in the users. This (was) is a vibrant and interesting place to be - and that's testament not only to the people that made the site, but also to the people who breathed life into it. I'll be following friendfeed still, but i'll also be following the friendfeeders i've met here. I'm not sure where the future is, but it'll be something to do with the people here. I'm sure of that.
- Iain Baker
Micah - lack of innovation and development on FF platform will cause obsolesence soon. Social web apps must innovate or die. When Facebook acquired FF, we all knew that FF would wind down due to this. Communities will migrate to current platforms that meet their needs. I am sensing a large contingent of the FF community is about to leave FF, myself included.

Robert, did Wolfram-Alpha indicate their future direction being a $50 iphone app? All I'm saying is Facebook's strategy may include support to FF that's not in a time-frame worth pushing through PR yet.
- Micah Wittman
My favorite thing about this whole "Facebook is dead, move on" campaign is that these guys are basically just trying to shoe you BACK to the service they talked most of you OFF of in the first place: Twitter. I'm still looking for their motivation.
- Joel Bennett
FB is dead? Anyone who's saying that in view of their soaring stats and the roaring success that FB Connect has been needs their head examined
- LANjackal
from IM
The way I see it, Robert, your constant bitching and declaring friendfeed dead is what is killing the community. While the software it runs on may be dead, the community is not. I have to separate it and explain it to you, because you don't seem to understand the difference and how being a vocal part of this community affects it. The more you put it down, the more people won't come here...
- April Russo (app103)
Susan, social web apps need utility/affection by a set of users. If cutting/bleeding edge aficionados is the particular user set in question, then what you said generally holds true. But it's not the general case unless a true replacement (in this case for FF) is available.
- Micah Wittman
I don't think he's killing the community, he's just killing the community's participation with him.
- Alex Scoble
Robert. Can you advise the information you have from your sources?
- Johnny Worthington
I am stuck in the middle on this one...
- Allen Stern
Fair point, Alex. I think this issue needs the two Scobles to put their heads together and clear the air.
- Micah Wittman
Is Friendfeed dying ( if it is) because of it being purchase by Facebook, or by members reaction to that purchase? Did people forecast the death of Friendfeed and then leave, therefore creating the exact scenario they predicted.
- Kim Landwehr
Robert, doesn't this put the denouement on the donkey for all those who thought it too sharp a call to say what was going on in that sale and before it? It seemed fairly clear to me what had been going on mainly from seeing the actions at the time of the sale and "doing the math". As Aristotle said: "Plot is character"

I'm more of a social media *consumer* than I am a participant. From a consumer's point of view, FF is more interesting than its competitors. A nice place to hang out, enjoy, learn, and sometimes discuss. Less guesswork is involved in deciding whether to click through to sources. From a consumer's perspective, as long as it remains interesting there won't be a reason to move on.
- howard shippin
from BuddyFeed
Johnny: yes, my sources inside Facebook tell me that the FriendFeed team has been split apart and is working on Facebook items only. So far no one has refuted that.
- Robert Scoble
April: you can believe that I'm personally killing the community but that really is giving me far more power than I actually have. The community has dramatically changed in the last two months. The alpha geeks I follow and that I build my business around have largely left. Everytime I meet geeks at conferences they tell me they are not spending as much time on FriendFeed as they did before the sale to Facebook and that the lack of direction from the team is largely responsible for that.
- Robert Scoble
And, April, if you read my blog post you'll see that I believe a new community is already moving in here -- one that doesn't care if the technology will see new features.
- Robert Scoble
I'm not on FB that much, but do people from their team actually get involved on the site? Is that even possible, with the privacy controls? I said it on another thread: you can't serve two masters. If FB is paying the bills now, that's probably where erstwhile FF staff must spend their time.
- .LAG liked that
.LAG: yes. I have dozens of Facebook employees as friends over on Facebook and they do engage all over the place.
- Robert Scoble
.LAG: the head of PR at Facebook, Brandee Barker, even has a Twitter account: http://twitter.com/faceboo... and there are TONS of employees who hang out on both Twitter and Facebook like Dave Morin, head of Facebook's platform team.
- Robert Scoble
Kim: I did one of the first interviews with the FriendFeed and Facebook teams after the sale was announced (within the first hour) and even then you could tell that Facebook had no plans for FriendFeed's technology and mostly wanted the team. The fact that Gary Burd (who ran the Google Talk team and is VERY influential in Seattle technology) has already left speaks VOLUMES to what is going on behind the scenes. April - Robert actions and Roberts threads have nothing to do with the death of Friendfeed. Robert's threads still have traffic and activity. The place where I see, where Robert would probably not ever be able to appreciate is the fact that there was once a time when a postless thread was impossible. Every single one of my threads had traffic. Even if it was one or 2 silly posts of...

I'm a new user. i quite enjoy what's here, at the moment. I can't say that I'm a sophisticated social networker, but I have already grown to trust many of the folk i've met here. Like someone earlier in the thread said, if enough of my friends on friendfeed decide to move on, i'll likely follow. i don't suspect that that kind of 'distant early warning' would arrive via Facebook.
- T. Brent, technopeasant
My experience on FF does not hinge on Robert. The community of thinkers and feelers will find a way to interact, here or somewhere else. By the way, some of us are left out of the loop 99% of the time when it comes to knowing what's next. Welcome to the club.
- Aron Michalski
from BuddyFeed
Matthew: you aren't the only one to notice this or tell me the same thing. Many won't point it out in public, either, because they just don't want to piss off those who are still here. Me? Being public with what I'm hearing, experiencing, deciding, etc is the way I deal with life and the conversations with others tend to either confirm the direction I'm aiming in, or they pull me back from the brink. So far not much has changed my opinion, and, in fact, has augmented it.
- Robert Scoble
Aron: Twitter is about to turn on lists. That's one feature FriendFeed had over it. Within six weeks they will turn on a new retweet feature that looks more like FriendFeed's "likes" than it looks like RTs, so that's another feature. Twitter is working on real time search and I'd expect them to turn on a much better search within six months. So, what's left? Comments. Those are added on...

I still get a lot of activity on my posts but it's not what it used to be. The big thing I've noticed is a rarely get new subscriptions yet I'm still quite active here. Going from getting several or more a day to one or so a week is a big indicator to me of FriendFeed's decline.

It's time to open source FF. Start the chant.
- Todd Hoff
is it possible that things are levelling off, naturally? can growth, here or elsewhere, expect to be exponential forever and ever?
- T. Brent, technopeasant
Brent, you bring up a salient point. For some, the constant movement is what they are really excited about more than the community. This is not to say that these ones don't enjoy the community, they obviously do. But they enjoy the "building" up of it. It's like getting trapped in the "I always want to be falling in love" feeling and never, as you bring out, get to and enjoy the natural leveling off. Some do enjoy that part. And there may be enough of them to keep this version of FF going.
- Melanie Reed
There's a problem with stasis, though. For one, it almost always leads to entropy and, for two, it means that there isn't an influx of new blood. It's the same people doing the same things having the same conversations. It decreases how dynamic the experience is. It becomes stale.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I'm not saying that FriendFeed's hit that stage yet but it most likely will. I'm still having a great time here but it's not nearly as exciting as it used to be and, no, that's just because the honeymoon period's worn off.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Akiva, I respectfully disagree. It's like exploring a new path in an old garden. This is the place most people are either afraid to traverse or have not developed the discipline to want to go there. There are always new things yet to be discovered in the same relationship. We just get "ants in our pants" not wanting to sit still long enough to discover it. ;)
- Melanie Reed
Melanie, oh yeah? Well, you're WRONG! In all seriousness, I think it's two sides of the same coin. And I want both. It's why I hang out both on Twitter and FriendFeed. I get different (but good!) experiences out of both.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Matt - Yup, I've experienced the same thing as I have over 2,500 FF followers and now see a very low user engagement; whereas, in the past, I could get a ton of likes / comments on any topic. Now I see only crickets!! FF is dying.

With Friend Feed I can go to the site, and watch in realtime all the action going on with those I follow. I see Likes, Comments, Pictures, Nicely grouped and can type more than 140 characters if I want to. The truth is we know nothing more than a few weeks after the sale when the team commented that they will keep it going as long as they could. We all knew development would stop. I think you'd be surprised at how many women don't properly wash their hands after inserting a tampon or adjusting a sanitary napkin. You only have to worry about men who don't wash after wiping their asshole. You don't have to worry about men not washing after urination (ie: after touching their cock).

Kittyburgers, Victor Ganata is a doctor. I would think he would know what he's talking about here. Where are your credentials backing up your opinion?
- Rochelle
The biggest problem and concern is hepatitis (specifically hep c), not E. coli
- Kittyburgers
from IM
Kittyburgers, can you back that up with a link to your source, please?
- Rochelle
Every square inch of your skin is covered with bacteria. When some of that bacteria ends up in your GI tract, bad things can happen. Hep C isn't readily spread by surface contact--you really need contact with bodily fluids, most commonly blood, although it can also be transmitted via semen.
- Victor Ganata
This is very true of hep C. I was reading an article the other day that was saying we are experiencing levels of hep C today that are the same as HIV in the 80's, which would suggest there are an awful lot of individuals out there spreading it. Syphilis is on the rise as well. These are the things that I find of more concern to me at the moment - not so much the hand washing thing.
- Kittyburgers
from IM
Kittyburgers, for the third time, where are your sources?
- Rochelle
Hepatitis A is spread through close personal contact with infected persons or by eating or drinking food or beverages handled by an infected person who has not thoroughly washed his or her hands after having a bowel movement. The virus is contracted through the mouth, multiplies in the body and is excreted in the stool of an infected person. Persons who are infected with hepatitis A may...

*shrug* Hand washing alone is probably the most effective way to prevent transmission of infectious disease. There are magnitudes of order more cases of gastroenteritis than of Hep C, HIV, or syphilis, and I realize that gastroenteritis rarely kills people in an industrialized country, but it sure as hell is inconvenient.
- Victor Ganata
Hep A has very different transmission characteristics from Hep B and Hep C--it's the only one that can be spread via surface contact. Most infections of Hep A probably just cause run-of-the-mill gastroenteritis, but a good percentage of them will cause acute hepatitis, and a percentage of that will cause fulminant liver failure. So, yeah, wash your hands.
- Victor Ganata
Coxsackievirus, E- Coli and Hepatitis A are the three most prevalent infectious diseases spread by poor hand washing hygiene.
- Eric Logan
ya guys gotta wash their hands. I don't want smegajuice on the door handle. (just wanted an excuse to say smegma)
- Rodfather
Seriously, that too. (Smegma is loaded with Gram negative rods.)
- Victor Ganata
Sorry, it's microbiology slang :D It describes the shape and color of bacteria after you apply a chemical stain to it. That's what a lot of the different bacteria that live in your colon are. (E. coli is a type of Gram negative rod.)
- Victor Ganata
Yeah, it's probably best not to think about it. All you can really do is wash your own hands. :D
- Victor Ganata
I believe this - I'm the only female in a house of males. I have to constantly tell my boys to wash their hands! Drives me bananas. Sometimes I think - if I didn't get them to wash their hands, would they ever wash up? *Sigh*

Signed up for it and filled the survey which is a nice way of extracting information from people that are eager to try it out.

What's the deal in the survey where we promise not to blog about it?
- Vezquex: God of FF
Too early to tell what it's like Zee as it's just a request for an invite. Is the promise not to blog a clever marketing ploy I wonder? One thing - it always frustrates me that when I fill out my UK address on most sites it still insists on my filling out a state (or I can't register). We don't have 'states' in the UK so why try and appeal internationally and then limit it to US subscribers - unless we make up an address as I just have!

I just put UK when it asks for my state, most forms dont seem to bother checking its really valid as long as you put something in :)

RE: #22 then we're two here Mo! Although some say that we have roman origins, I am a berber too :)
- directeur
Sweet! I still don't have a copy. And I would play it... at least one more time. :)
- Her Lindsay-ness
@directeur Roman origins, perhaps that's where the surname has come from
- Mo Kargas
Australian AND Welsh, how unlucky can you get? j/k ;) All these 25 lists are weird because I keeping finding about 10 of them are the same as me. Perhaps my FF circle projects my lifestyle more than I thought.
- Steven Cains
Dude, i'm SO WITH YOU on #23! Oh BTW, i was glad you didn't mention Fallout 3 in your list because if you did, i was going to hide your post, unsub from you and THEN block you....but lucky for you, crisis averted! HAHA! just playin, great list man!
- Live4Emma (L4S)
Great List, Mo! :-) Oh yeah, #17, not so weird...I'm in the club too.
- Anna Haro
@Anna, I'm not pessemistic when it comes to it, it simply hasn't occurred yet, and I'm content to wait till it happens or doesn't whatever the case.

I liked the movie, and loved that it used all unknown (outside of SA) actors and has given some great exposure to the South African film industry. For once the aliens chose to hover above a city outside the U.S! ;)
- Guy Martin
This movie totally wowed me... Fantastic
- Bette Cooper
We all know that in real life, aliens would only hover over the U.S., so I felt that part of an otherwise good movie was unrealistic.

"Does it tip over? I don't know. Is it practical? Again, up for grabs. Does it get an A+ for shade-tree engineering and chutzpah. Yes. A resounding yes!"

I love that Bret, Paul, and Kevin checked in. They probably are looking at their screens and asking "what do we do now?" how about ship some new features before Facebook overlords take you off to do bigger things?
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
I feel sorry for all you addicts. My use of it is purely social.
- Bruce Lewis
I do like FF and use it almost every day. Wouldn't it be great if FB either left it alone so we can continue to use it as "professionals," or somehow incorporate it into a more "mature" version of FB that didn't have all the annoying, time-wasting apps, games, etc. I'd much prefer a totally customizable FF "wall."
- Cathryn Hrudicka
I think FFundercats HO!!!!! would have worked but I'm here anyways.
- Jimminy
Actively fighting addiction to anything on a daily basis, but I'm still a FriendFeed fan! (I'd have been here sooner but I've been staring at Phoebe Cates pics for longer than I realized.)
- Mark Jepsen
Thank you Robert Scoble to be here. :) BTW is this looks interesting for FF replacement? : http://streamy.com/ ? May be... I'll try it to see. :)
