This handy commenting system has kept me here, so tweet might have sealed the deal *err sorry @Nicole I forgot the "snoozing" and "group clustering" in Version 5.0 *wink ...via AlertThingy - Stefan Asemota
I can't figure out why they didn't just go ahead and include support for reading your Twitter stream in this one. Great turnaroud time on adding Twitter support, though. ...via AlertThingy - Jeremy Herbel
I'm really enjoying this! ...via AlertThingy - Mike Lewis
I'd love it if links were clickable too ...via AlertThingy - Jeremy Herbel
I had both apps running (twhirl and alertthingy)...now just alertthingy, twhirl look out indeed... ...via AlertThingy - champhuet
The last thing I need is another thing to flood me with updates. If Alert Thingy or someone else doesn't create a great filtering engine soon, I'm going to go postal. ...via AlertThingy - Lisa Brewster
I like commenting in line, but I need to see my entire Tweet follow/follower list before I drop Twirl. Will run both for a while. ...via AlertThingy - James Urquhart
Alert Thingy is far more attractive than Twirl. Agree with others that being able to see entire Twitter stream would be nice. ...via AlertThingy - Neal Hohman
I don't really think it's a threat. I enjoy seeing my twitter feed on Twhirl and getting more periodic updates from Alert Thingy ...via AlertThingy - Teresa Valdez Klein
But don't we need to factor in all the screen space these app's take up? Window switching is becoming more and more challenging. ...via AlertThingy - ImJustCreative
Don't get me wrong, I love these Air app's, but asking them to display too much will make them pretty damn huge ...via AlertThingy - ImJustCreative
@ImJustCreative exactly. Between Twitterific, Alert Thingy, Adium, and chats I've lost a whole monitor. Hopefully Alert Thingy will eliminate the need to have Twitterific open soon. ...via AlertThingy - David Klein
adding more info you will ideally need more columns, rather than just straight down, otherwise way too unreadable ...via AlertThingy - ImJustCreative
Agreed, I may have to stop using Twhirl at this rate! ...via AlertThingy - Craig Dalton
poor loic...seemed like such a great little buy ...via AlertThingy - AJ Arora
Like I said before, I guess I don't need Twhirl anymore. ...via AlertThingy - Cesar H Castro Jr
over/under on days until alert thingy integrates twitter streams? i'll go for 3 ...via AlertThingy - Samuel Bostock
It'd be nice if AlertThingy had a "hide comments" link that would show up after you do a "show all comments", so you could compactify things again after you were done reading. For that matter, it'd be nice for the web interface to have that, too. :) ...via AlertThingy - felix
No matter how this plays out, the big winner here is AIR. Playing host to all the most popular desktop Web 2.0 service clients is an enviable position. ...via AlertThingy - Teresa Valdez Klein
@felix I have longed for that since day one. I figured it would eventually show up since it was such an obvious feature. - Jeremy Herbel
Not sure I'm ready to give up twirl yet. One thing re:AlertThingy; it's popped up the alert for this post about ten times as if it were a new post. Is that a bug? ...via AlertThingy - Jandy Stone
twhirl no worries until you can monitor and respond to twitter streams ...via AlertThingy - amarquart
@faithx5 just letting you know the entry has a new comment or like. ...via AlertThingy - Phil Ashman
@faithx5 everytime there's a new comment it pops up the original message and not the comment ...via AlertThingy - Hernan Garcia
@Phil & Hernan I wondered if that was what was happening. You should be able to turn that off, or have it show the comment instead. Thx for the replies. ...via AlertThingy - Jandy Stone
Like that you can finally change the horrible original theme ... ...via AlertThingy - Patrick Jordan
Someone who is subscribed to loads of people should work out what % of comments are coming from Alert Thingy these days. - Samuel Bostock

And the comments are amusing as always: "try search for gmail on google; you see NO advertisements on the right or top. Why? If you try to advertise for this keyword, the MINIMUM is some 25$. Explain to me that this is no evil." Apparently NOT having ads is now evil... - Paul Buchheit
maybe you can sue google to get your slogan back - bob
I always wondered if anyone ever asked paul what he meant by the word "evil" especially given the number of definitions offered by wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E... - Adewale Oshineye
I always assumed he meant not to be a telemarketer. Check. I am successful in life. - Clare Dibble
"It’s too bad they couldn’t get Buchheit to take it with him when he left to found FriendFeed." - Clare Dibble
Don't be evil! - Amit Patel
Friendfeed should have the motto, "Be less evil than Google" (and Walmart: http://mathoda.com/archives/18...) - Ranjit Mathoda
Nobody understands "don't be evil", but people like to mention it whenever there's something wrong about Google. Making mistakes is not synonymous with being evil. - Ionut

the last sentence totally made my fools day :D - AJ Arora
I have to agree with this suit. It's one thing to show stuff like movies or songs a person liked in a non-commercial application (like last.fm). But to put somebody's face in a paid ad...absolutely illegal. - Bill Bittner
I love April Fools day - Glenn Slaven
Awesome. - Neil Vidyarthi
I agree, the last sentence was great. - Alejandro S.

awesome input on the music industry, but at the same time, much of your analysis is flawed. you keep stating that: "Good musicians will always find a way to make money. Others may have to follow their passion as a hobby and (shudder) get a day job to pay the bills." That's simply not true -- a good musician in America needs a star producer a la Timbaland or Stargate, as well as phenomenal songwriters to get hit songs -- and then they make money. And often times to get the connections (or the financial backing) to earn time with those star produers and songwriters who make a majority of the hits, takes either deep pockets or connections (i.e. contract) with a major label. Just think of an unknown entrepreneur with a good product, vs. a big-name entrepreneur with the same product. Who do you think will get VC backing/ press, etc. It's the ultimate conundrum for a musician. Even if the music were good enough without hiring a star production team and songwriters, simply making good music DNE $$ - David Adewumi
I don't believe that's correct, David. You may need a starproducer if you want to buy 5 houses and 10 cars. But I think that alternative music scene is doing just fine without them. - Johannes Kleske
@David I'm trying to figure out if you're being funny or serious. People who need big-name producers and songwriters shouldn't be making music. It's clearly not their calling in life. - Matthew Gifford
@Matt Have you looked at Billboard recently? Most of the best-selling (and best-selling usually equates to most tickets/merch sold on tour) musicians, you will find that a majority of the music is co-written or completely written by another party. Ditto for big name producer. This is how the music biz works. @ Johannes, the whole web 2.0 world operates in the same breath -- produce the big name winners like Google. - David Adewumi
@David I don't care one bit about what's on Billboard. As far as I'm concerned, the music scene would be better off if all the best-selling acts were forced to go back to washing dishes. - Matthew Gifford
all i can say in david's defense is that i know a lot of talented, small-time musicians who are having trouble making ends meet. i go to their shows and watch them try to sell CDs. they're happy to sell a handful, if that. they go on tour, and are happy to drive hundreds of miles for a gig that pays a few hundred bucks. despite all the new forms of music distribution out there, new forms of revenue for smaller acts has yet to significantly materialize. until it does, let's not act like it already has. - Eric Eldon

The real power to friendfeed is that people can define their "web footprint" as folks add and remove services you don't need to signup and friend them on a service you might not be interested in using. - Sean Reiser
Certainly for me, FriendFeed has been a destination site for several weeks already. What I like about it is that I can now aggregate the digital lifestream of several people from whom I get my latest news on the web. - Christopher Yeo
