@george08 San Francisco as Large Nerdron Collider strikes again. Trying to find the Berg Boson again...
Thanks to @Caterina for paraphrasing Bertrand Russell: The purpose of an education is to protect ourselves from the persuasive...
@Caterina And clearly talks are often deformed by employers, what you represent in public, being a professional 'evangelist' etc.
@Caterina Some people I've talked to have argued myth-making, sales, being inspiring, a more noble 'end' (justifying the means)
@Caterina Well clearly I feel this is a fundamental responsibility. However, many have argued recently political expediency, business needs.
A question for the floor: What responsibility does a conference speaker have to speak the truth? And what recourse do we have if they don't?
Really loving that I can have serious discussions with my friends about the acceptable ethical edges of good business practice.
Right. Time to start ploughing through the dumb organisational jobs and cleaning. Will get my life in order if it kills me!
@fabricoffolly Actually it was Dan Brown seven times. Is that bad?
No, but in twenty mins
@fabricoffolly You beat me, I managed seven.
Anyone seen @andybudd littering the streets of San Francisco at all?
@revdancatt Traditionally in order to make it seem fresher on the shelves you always point ahead. Spring 2010 would be my recommendation.
Bah. No one understands my pain.
Right. I'm going to try out Dropbox for a bit just for a few files and casual stuff and see how it goes. Wish me luck.
@seldo Can be the best thing to happen to a TV show. Buffy possibly should have ended a couple of years earlier...
Wow. It's unexpectedly good TV night! I guess it's mid-season breaks, but still, Dollhouse is rocking at the halfway point.
Would like to store most of my files accessibly in the cloud. Any other options out there that are as good or better than Dropbox?
Tum te tum. Ho hum. [Time passes] Oh, hang on a minute, Google's fucking terrifying all of a sudden. When did that happen!?
A generally lovely day so far. Brunch and wanderings with @jamescridland followed by shopping. Even Stargate Universe was pretty good.
Thanks to @kgreene for pointing me to this: http://doggles.com/ Can't tell you what I got the family dog, just in case she's reading.
Working through Christmas shopping for my family in the UK. Started with the most important (family dog) and working my way down.
Just passed a guy walking a dog. The dog was wearing sunglasses. After two years in San Francisco I can't tell if this is weird or not.
This week's Glee is not exactly leaving me cold, but it's cerrtainly not as effortless as some of the others.
Hm. Crap. It just got a lot better suddently. Whoa.
Balls. Looks like it's another one of those bloody nights where I wander aimlessly around the house at 2.30am
There are about as many gay people in the USA as there are straight people in all of LA. Why is it so hard to accept that there's diversity?
Apple buying Lala sounds like a straight-down-the-line talent acquisition to me: http://www.nytimes.com/2009...
Transferring everything over to the new iMac. This is without a doubt the most beautiful computer I've ever owned.
A silver slice of cheese with silver skewers with mice on them? Apparently "Good Taste Costs No More": http://www.gumps.com/GIFTS/
