Nice video. I don't think he was out-of-hand. Getting a little upset isn't bad for you. Traditional business, though, has certain "rules" though which depend on how powerful you are, whether you are in public, etc... - Mitchell Tsai

The Enron analogy -- mark-to-market death spiral & exploding off balance sheet entities -- is scarily apt. Remembering how fast it can happen, especially. - Jeremy Raines

But if you actually use it, they'll kill your connection... - Marc Andreessen
$149 a month? YIkes. - Dan Keldsen
What can you do with that sort of bandwidth? It feels like video streaming is already limited more by what the hosting service is willing to pay, not by the end user's bandwidth. All I can really think that it's good for is bulk P2P asset acquisition. - ⓞnor
iTunes Store? - Chris White
Yeah, I guess it works for data you actually pay by the byte for. - ⓞnor
If their current practices are any indication, what you'll be getting will be more like 30Mbps - Charlie via Alert Thingy
Cable modem bandwidth is affected by the number of subscribers using the same headend, right? So the more popular it gets without the cable company adding more infrastructure, the less you get. The only way they could guarantee bandwidth is by limiting subscribers use per headend, or automatically adding new headends when the subscriber use exceeds the limit. - Chris White
Any network can develop bottlenecks if the operator doesn't bother to build out capacity to keep up with load. I feel like cable headends are just one of many things that could get slow. Either Comcast is serious about delivering bandwidth, or they're not... they do seem to feel that burst bandwidth is a key differentiator of theirs, but bulk/continuous bandwidth is not what they want to sell. - ⓞnor

"As for the events that were not in his life, those that occurred in the lives of other people in other places, of what possible interest could they be to him? The idea that a human being could be instructed or amused by the fortunes of a stranger was as foreign to a European back then as a land across the sea. The world outside one's immediate ken was a place of mystery, not a source of enlightenment." - Paul Buchheit
"No intermediary was required to give voice or meaning to the events in his life." So we come full circle with the invention of the blog ;) - Clare Dibble

plus it never mentions the number of reporters that have become alcoholics and/or divorced - Steven Hodson
I think this was, indeed, a pretty sensationalist and generally crappy article. With that said, though, it justifiably highlights IMHO the asinine pace at which many folks seem to demand "updates." If you find out about an electronic toy (:cough: new iPhone, etc.) a day earlier, is your life really that much richer? If you don't get that extra helping of "celebrity" gossip, is your life less meaningful? Or, put more bluntly, does the hyperspeed of info we demand (and many unhealthily strive to meet)... - Adam Lasnik
... really make us happier overall? - Adam Lasnik
Just finished reading this article and came online to share with FF, only to discover others had beat me to it. ; ) I find the reactions interesting though. Besides Adam, most people are saying, "Oh they're just jealous." That is much scarier to me than the article itself. What does it say about an industry when an article hinting we should slow down a little is met with a chorus of "Wimps!" - Carla Thompson
