I realize I'm not a sports fan or anything, but when I read this my first reaction was: wait, they're supposed to be playing basketball right now?

When I was a kid, I listened to CBS Radio Mystery Theater on Sunday nights. I had access to TV--color TV at that, and I watched as much as any child of the 70s. But listening in the dark to E.G. Marshall and that skilled group of radio actors is as memorable to me as any of my TV experiences. Of course, mid-70s TV was kind of bad, so maybe that explains it.

I was struck by how quotes from the governor's office never seem proactive: "we're fixing the problem..." etc. There's always another platitude, or a pained response to being asked to do their job. You want the feds out of your hair? Manage these facilities better, and hold those on the ground accountable for their failures. THAT'S how you "run government like a business."

I thought he must have dies a long time ago. I've heard some of Corwin's radio stuff, and he was an amazing writer, especially for the times in which he worked.

I don't agree with everything Mr. Huntsman says, BUT he is at least saying something of substance, and worth debating. If you want to hear substance from political candidates, always look for that thoughtful person who isn't attracting so much attention that he's forced to speak in soundbytes. Didn't see the debate last night (though they are apparently drawing good ratings) but every bit of post-game coverage is about bickering, gaffes, and who got to talk for how long. Why I gotta read the Wall Street Journal to find actual ideas?

More like this, please. I have always believed that there is far too little emphasis on the people surrounding candidates for high office. The guy or gal with the pretty face and talking points is always backed up by a team that will wield enormous power if the candidate wins. EVERY presidential candidate should be accountable for the people who work for them, and should explain to the voters who exactly will be pulling the levers or power.

Just a commentary: I love when the news folk look for the local angle. On the radio this morning, "Neighbors on the quiet cul de sac in Round Rock were SHOCKED" and then the quote they played is from a lady who said she didn't know the guy, but that lots of people used to come and go from his house, so she avoided it. Yeah, SHOCKED.

What is it about female members of the Clinton family? Do they not have last names, or does their association with Bill render them superfluous?

If this is a channel you have, check out some great movies. Especially recommended: Woman of the Year, The Last Hurrah, Desk Set. I include Desk Set because the late-50s interaction with the mainframe computer is priceless. And because Desk Set doesn't show up on TV much.

I love the idea of Siri, and hope it works as advertised. I don't necessarily think it will be the iOS killer app. A lot of people would probably find value in Swype. This guy, however, is a little whiny.

I think he captures something important about immigration politics in Texas. In the 80s and 90s, when California and national politics began to be focused on decreasing illegal immigration, Texas was always less volatile and, IMO, more realistic.

I think this would be a good change. I've never been a fan of the awkward "undocumented" either. Illegal immigrant seems to be both grammatically correct, and politically neutral.

When I was at UT, there were four or five classic and art film series on campus at any one time, plus an off-campus theater or two. I spent most of my spare college moments in darkened auditoriums, which probably explains a lot about me. I wish the current crop of students had that option.

I love this on so many levels. Do I identify with the coach who doesn't get Star Wars references, or the journalist who thinks he's clueless? Kind of both, actually.
