I saw a table tent card about Lo-Burn at a bakery yesterday. Austin has fallen in love with district shorthand. Let's see: we have SoCo, SoLa, SoFi, and LoBurn. For the East Sixth Street shot bar district, I suggest FratPuke. The ritzy Second Street district would be RichSec. I'll let you know when I have a name for my neighborhood.

A great read for the way the article puts modern politics in philosophical terms, and also the way it reminds you of actual history along the way.

Some people in Houston got mad that the city council in Austin got mad at Arizona for passing an immigration law. Just so we're clear.

We have a politician fighting to keep his activities, and those of the state employees paid to protect him, secret. Not secret before they occur, but secret after the fact. Accountable government indeed.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Again, not a Bachman fan at all, but this gaffe thing is utterly made up, and was propagated by lazy, craven journalists.

Well, congratulations to us. The 90% of PP's services that are not abortion-related were probably not even all that important to the women who can't afford to get them elsewhere. I'll have to ask my friend who ran a gauntlet of protesters to receive care for her endometriosis about that.

Hera's a good practical look at how outrageous gerrymandering affects people's ability to be represented by someone who lives in their geographic area. Keep in mind that Austin is 68 miles north of San Antonio. Even under the previous gerrymander, some part of Austin were represented by an SA-based Congressman. but this is just insane.

Just for the photo. You KNOW that the stars on those flags were very carefully arranged. Texas' flag doesn't naturally hang like that.

If I lived off the Internet coupons I'm offered, I would be tanned, waxed, massaged, and tweezed. And one meal, which I would have to travel 25 miles to eat.

It would be hard to overstate how little I agree with Ms. Bachman. Be that as it may, one of th very worst things about a presidential campaign is the relentless cataloging of verbal errors that inevitably occur. I would so love to take a 1.5 year vacation in Australia.

First, I was like, is that onion I smell? And then I was like, hey, with a robotic car, I could propel myself independently. And then I was like, ROBOTIC CARS? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I had never heard of this fellow until after his death. I didn't see "Jackass" (for which I am everlastingly grateful), but it makes me a little sad to read that the headline about someone's death includes the phares "Jackass Star".

Wow, I hadn't even heard, or seen this in local news. Whatever you think about the death penalty, the idea that we here in Texas have escalated our executions to the point that they don't even warrant a cursory news story is a little disturbing.
