if Al Gore's view of major Global Warming "so called Scientists" destroying real data and replacing with falsified data, attempting to silence debate is nothing then I guess this just confirms he is an idiot! Also, article claims newest email was 10 years old, that is a total fabrication! Go read them for yourself, many are from 2009!

""MS Office and OS Windows" Duh! That is where MS made their Billions as google is with search. How are you going to beat other competitors if you do not focus on your business? That really seems like a fallacy to me, fact was, in the early 80s and most of the 90s MS was focused on their business so much that comps had to wait for the evolution to the internet to take hold to find another place to dominate like MS did the OS! In the 80s & early 90s MS chose to focus on software and the OS and Apple went the other route, they wanted the hardware and OS software. MS focused on building resources to help developers build software for their OS while Apple really didn't seem to care much about that side of the business. That resulted in MS domination. MS focused on their business model and made the right choices while Apple stuck to their guns and got their buts kicked. Now look at Apple, Iphone App Store!!!! Free SDK developer resources to help people build software for their platform,..."
- Brian
"You also might have forgot why MS got so big to begin with, Apple wanted control of the hardware and software and Gates was smart enough at the time to focus on the software side and sell it to anyone who makes the hardware! If Jobs had taken that approach at the same time that Gates did who knows what would have taken shape in the OS market. Also, Don't forget that MS did do a good job partnering with and building resources for developers to build software for the MS OS, that is why you were lucky to find ANY software built for the Mac in the 90s and so FEW businesses even willing to think about switching to the Mac, they still have that issue to a much smaller extent to this day, but now they are getting smarter, like including multi boot software on the Mac so you can still run software made for Windows on the Mac, etc.... Iphone App store, etc...."
- Brian
"1st of all, my comment was related to search, everyone responds to competition and that is why we should all promote and root for more of it! If MS is refuses to do something (like support for true open standard) that the market wants they are just giving an opening to their competition to do so, IE Firefox, gamil, etc... I was a netscape user all throughout the 90s due to their "tabs" feature, I hated having 20 windows open and having to sift between them but you can't blame me and even MS for all the PC users who really didn't give a crap about that stuff and used what was given to them (Internet Explorer). I do believe Netscape was charging for their browser when MS went free, funny how MS was evil for doing so while google is God for "free search" when that had been around for all the 90s as well as the PPC model devised by Overture they just built a better search engine period! In search google had kept everything pretty much the same the last 8 years which in the sense that..."

"Why in the world would Bing.com benefit from paying google not to index WSJ content so they can includethe WSJ stories in their search results? You think I am going to use Bing.com over google because they include WSJ? No, I would probably go to WSJ and search their site for stories. I think you are forgetting that google bot was setup to not index sites that included the "No index" command in their HTML, WSJ does not have to pay google to not index their pages."
- Brian
"Evil LOL When Google pays a staff to go out there and PRODUCE content and then gives it away free rather than indexing it and selling ads next to it then I will believe that they have this great moral cause! Murdock has every right to do whatever he pleases with the content they produce and to refer to it as EVIL because they want to charge you $10 a month for it is ludicrous and a little melodramatic!"
- Brian
"It sure is funny that when Microsoft comes out with the Bing.com search engine & wala Google starts making all kinds of changes to their search page (which they always said would damage their minimalist ethos), I think it is starting to become clear that Google is the follower now while Microsoft's Bing.com is the one that is innovating and dragging Google along for the ride. BTW, I love google's new sidebar filter feature and the ability to display the results as previews! I know all of you MS haters are never going to admit it but Bing.com is responsible for all the new innovations that are occurring in search at Google and with Bing.com. I use them both and find that Bing.com holds it's own, although not better in quality results their interface is much more appealing & innovative which has caused me to remember Bing when the need to do a search arises where that never happened before with the Live.com search product, I forgot about that one after trying it for the first time."

Of course WellPoint studies are going to "show" that...it's in their interest to do so. Never mind that private insurers have already noted that they WILL raise premiums in (timing) conjunction with reform, to make it appear as though the hikes are a result of the reform. It's a scare tactic to keep control in the hands of big insurance...which is costing the nation more in waste and poor health care coverage and practice than any reform will EVER cost us.
- ProsePetals (aka Denise)
But if they raise rates a lot, people will just switch to the public option.
- Andrew C
Exactly, Andrew. And because of that reality the prices will not increase exponentially.
- MVB (Grinch of FF)
That is not going to be the case, the Gov option will be deliberetely under priced for the purpose of getting people on the Gov plan as I am sure that many employers will be happy to unload people onto the Gov plan to save a buck and all the while we will not see an equivalant increase in our pay so in effect we will see our compensation reduced. To suggest that the Gov will magically...

To put the $170,000 into perspective that would pay for my health care premiums for 34 years! I find it amazing that people want us to believe that Gov will be cheaper when they have saddled every US citizen with the equivalent of 34 years of private health care premiums even after taking 15% of our lifetime earnings!

$170K thats one ride in ambulance to ER, admission Cardio Intensve Care and that triple bypass

Doesn't matter, Obama care passes defeated filibustered whatever - "for profit" healthcare is unsustainable I give it 5 years and Medicare will be extended to all ages
- WarLord
Another thing that bugs me is how the left say that private insurance is so bad and wasteful yet nobody from their side has seen that as an opportunity to enter the market themselves and provide a better service which would trounce all over the current flock of wasteful, evil insurance COs. They have billionaires like Soros, Google founders, Jobs willing to poor 100s of millions funding Dem campaigns yet they can't and will not fund a venture with so much obvious potential?

Brian my union is self funded in our health care insurance for our members but then the right aint much for unions doing good so its pointless to call you on the dumbness of your statement. Oddly enough the day we went self funded the insurance company we'd been using rebid the contract at a 50% reduction in their fee. Amazing coincidence
- WarLord
Who says that we are not for union workers doing good. We refer mostly to the rediculous situations like the auto COs having to pay people to do nothing without time limits to find work or even being required to take a job, deliberate efforts to prevent productivity like making sure workers did not do anything but their specific and limited function even when they had extra time during...

You mention that the day you went self funded your costs went down, that is exactly our point, we should promote more competition and options by allowing competition across state lines, allowing more consumer choice in what type of insurance they buy rather than highly regulated markets where Gov mandates your coverages which would be like writing a law requiring all auto manufacturers...

Brian you asked why nobody entered the market if insurance rip off people, I answered that many unions do directly compete avoiding paying profits and hue CEO comp package. State Regulation is a different article that gets in the guts of coverage MN as do many states spcify a list of illnesses that must be covered I wouldn't trade MN list for the crappy Texas list not so BTW consumer...

@War Lord: you say that private insurance is not sustainable but you have yet to explain to us just how you come to the conclusion that Medicare and SSI type Gov run systems are. At least when a private Co charges too much I have the option not to buy it while when the Gov does the same I will be prosecuted and imprisoned if I refuse to buy what they are selling. Take SSI, if you make...

It's just amazing that people think the government can run healthcare efficiently. The majority of people in America have health insurance, but as usual, everyone has to be screwed so the government can take over.
- Spencer
Spencer, your faith in private insurance would be cute if you weren't effectively advocating for a lot of people to suffer recissions and procedure denials.
- Andrew C
from Android
Faith has nothing to do with it. I just have enough common sense to know the government would handle it worse. If you think denials and such won't happen under the government, you are sorely mistaken.
- Spencer
Of course denials will happen, Spencer. However, the common sense you're quoting here is inapplicable -- read this to understand a few of the problems with private insurance (and no, you're not the person I was addressing in the blog): http://therearethornstoo.blogspot.com/2009...

The Great Google Wave invite thread. Anyone who wants an invite post your Gmail address here and anyone who has invites available please use to invite the people on this list. There are also a bunch of requests in the Invites group here: http://friendfeed.com/invites
I have a few but holding them for a few people who have already asked me. I'm at kolint [at] googlewave [dot] com btw. A pain I know but if you can, could you update your comment when you have an account or just delete your comment. Ta! :-) EDIT: Try this site for invites: http://googlewaveinvites.com/
- Kol Tregaskes
Are people on this list getting invites or at least been told they have an invite on the way? You might have to be patient, it could take a long time for one to come through.
- Kol Tregaskes
Adam, yep agree. Maybe because I did that (month ago though) helped me get mine through from Vijay so quickly!
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol, the invitation process seems to be based on nominations. For example, everytime someone nominates/invites you, you get bumped up the queue for an account until you're at the top and you get sent an invite by the team
- Ysabel Legaspi
Ysabel, ah I see, So lots of people must have nominated me. Darn, so a few users I have nominated could be waiting a looooong time. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
if that voting system is right I'm very annoyed. I asked for an invite months ago, now all the numpties are all over it I'm not going to get a look in. It's like I've been sat at the front of a shop queue and everyone's just walking right past me into the shop. I am British but I detest both queuing and waiting, so this is pretty tough going

From what I've seen it's a lot like friend feed only for comments. Disqus is giving JS-Kit [echo] a run for their money with their Disqus3 version.I'll stick with what's free.
- Dee
i like echo, it's clean and fast. Disqus never showed my friendfeed comments and made a half-@#$% effort to fix it for me...
- Anthony Farrior
I use it on my blog and it works pretty well, although it does miss some social media posts here and there. For $12 a year it is worth it though.
- Brian
from BuddyFeed
Is it a significant amount that it misses? Or just one or two?
- Shevonne
I don't see how it could be worth any money unless someone can show in a side-by-side comparison that it is significantly better at what it does than Disqus 3.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
@Rahsheen - Do you know if Disqus Version 2.12.7121 actually Disqus 3? It is the newest version that I can find on the wordpress site but I would think that they would # the version with "3". My problem with the last version which was supposed to pull in social comments is that it never pulled in any, does it work now?
- Brian
I'm running Disqus 2.12.7121 as well. You need to make sure you're using their new default theme as well. Can't remember the name, but you change it on the site in your settings.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Looks like they work great on your site! I will give it a try again! It could be that I use the Thesis theme for my blog and it changes the structure of wordpress somewhat to make it more customizable.
- Brian
