I think he gave a very appropriate response. The name DOES violate an Apple trademark and Apple is required by law to enforce that lest they lose their trademark. Changing the name of your app is not a big deal. It's not like Apple asked them to stop selling the application entirely.

Apple has to defend its trademarks, and iPodRip seems to violate Apple's iPod trademark - since 2003. Seems like Steve's response is a bit late!

People have been using scrollbars for decades. They work the same on every popular platform. Unless there’s a compelling reason, it’s a bad idea to change how scrollbars work in your particular application.

I actually don't even use scrollbars, I always use my mouse wheel. Because it is useful :) Scrollbars just help me to find out where I am. And this is a default behaviour of mine, which works for any site on the Internet but Google Wave. They should reduce the elements if they want to make anything useful, or simpler.

Honestly, I think that this is a bit overblown. I noticed the changed behavior of the Wave scrollbars when I saw it, and it took me all of 30 secs to comprehend the differences fully (and to be honest, I like it a lot more -- btw, that shadow thing isn't just there to be there, it also indicates and allows one to control the speed of the scroll, which, I think, is done intentionally much more smoothly than default OS scrolling).

Also, like Onur, I (like most people on the internet, I would imagine) use scroll wheels as my default behavior (btw, Onur, my scrollwheel works just fine on Wave, and it affects whichever section I'm currently hovering my cursor over, as I generally expect). So the affect of this change would seem to be quite small in any case.

if you use a scroll mouse to work with most of the time, you obviously get used to the scrollwheel. that's how it works everywhere.
