Welcome Baby Ryan!!! My baby Ryan (17 years!) and I are honored to welcome another superstar to our planet! Love, hugs, and lots of kisses to Baby Ryan, Mommy Maryam, Dad Robert and big brothers Milan & Patrick and of course Grandma!!! My guess on Ryan's arrival (predication) was only 23 hours off. I thought he would arrive on Friday, Sept. 18th at 11:45 pm. Love to all, Kelly & Ryan Kim
- Kelly S. Kim
What a moment, eh? I remember when my daughter came into this world, it was so exciting there were no words for it. Congrats on your wonderful baby boy!
- Michael J. Carrasquillo
Congratulations! Welcome to the world, Ryan. :-)
- Yvette Ferry
Congratulations Robert and Maryam! And welcome Ryan. If I was having a baby today, I'd begin a blog for him/her straight away as an online diary they could look back on when grown up.

I was a c-section six week preemie in an era when that was seriously life-threatening, they didn't know if I would make for the first week. It always gets me a see a c-section / preemie come howling into the world. Welcome, little guy!

Right ON! I am so happy for you. I have 4 kids of my own and they are my greatest joys. Take care and I hope all goes so smooth for him and mom.

Congrats! I wish a long and healthy life.

Robert, you newest addition is too freaking adorable. I hope you and Maryam are doing well. Congratulations! Here's to a long, prosperous future!

We haven't lost the ability to consider both sides - your actions with your son testify to that. Throughout history, some people have been able to consider multiple views, and some haven't.
- John E. Bredehoft
I am appalled at this concern about the President's address to school children, as if he is going to pollute their minds. So disrespectful of the institution and his position. It makes me wonder about deep-seated, unacknowledged racism.
- Teri Gidwitz
We lost it when mainstream media over-covers rhetoric vice facts and the mindless drones of the general public blindly follow. I'm not a Big Obama "fan" but you still have to respect the office and the guy sitting in the big chair even if you don't "Like" him you can still respect and disagree.
- Stan Augustyniewicz
Stan: yup. Media business has turned politics into a sports team.
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
I don't attribute it solely to racism - some whites didn't like it when white presidents spoke to children either. It's this "my way or the highway" mentality that refuses to even listen to the evildoers, be they Commies or Baby Seal Clubbers.
- John E. Bredehoft
"as if he is going to pollute their minds." - 50 years ago, the same nutters who are spewing about, quite literally, every single thing Obama does would have been ranting at the local barber shop about Flouride and Communist infiltration of the government. They are all Id, no Superego. That the cable "news" networks give these John Birch Society wannabes a platform is a disgrace.
- John Craft
I'm not sure how many people believed in the ideals of the US when it was started. A system based on laws, checks and balances, a democratic republic, protection from the government. But enough people went along so that it worked. Now it seems people are tired with the experiment and feel entitled to remake the country as a theocracy. It's just easier that way.
- Todd Hoff
Blue Cross presents the Senate Healthcare Reform debates!
- Stan Augustyniewicz
It's unfortunate we've become so polarized; for or against, no appreciation for nuance or complexity.
- Teri Gidwitz
News delivery is such an open market people can go and look and find whatever news they like that agrees with what they think. Combine that with "news" having such a wide ranging definition and much of it not being "and that's the way it is" anymore, we've reached that divide. I really think it'll have to get a lot worse until people start to wake up and realize they can't just listen...

- Dean Clark
My impression of this (from the UK) is that people are more bothered about their kids writing a letter about "how they are going to help President Obama". It does sound kind of creepy.
- Rob Fisher
Why aren't these same parents so concerned about the politics of the teachers and administrators who get to speak to their kids all the time? I've pretty much decided to wait and see how many people I know really hold their kids out and how many are just running their mouth. Not sure which is worse. My kids? They're homeschooled so we'll watch the speech together and talk about it. We'll also get to talk about their friends and their parents that didn't want to let them see that speech.
- Jon Adair
The speech itself isn't that bad, however I can pretty much guarantee it was re-written. The worst part was the lesson plan that followed that sounded like it was written by ACORN. The other problem is Obama's cult following and how his narcissism has affected his ability to govern.
- Spencer
Good point, Jon Adair, and a good solution too. Dean Clark, "they can't just listen to what they want, or bad things will happen" -- now *that* sounds kind of sinister. If you mean that people need to apply critical thinking, then you're right. I think the idea that *any* news reporting is unbiased is naive. There will always be the possibility of picking and choosing. That's why I like blogs: a much wider range of views than the MSM's narrow left vs. right.
- Rob Fisher
Spencer: did you talk like that about Bush? I really hate that media has given us all permission to call each other names.
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
Robert: I think it works both ways. Remember bushitler?
- Rob Fisher
I think most people can actually consider and respect both sides. It's the passion and consequent fervor that arises around specific issues. People want to have their views heard and respected. When they do not get this emotional-based reactions crop up. It has been there for ages and will continue to be so.
- Altan Khendup
One of the major themes that was presented after Ted Kennedy's death was his ability to work with the Dan Quayles and John McCains of the world.
- John E. Bredehoft
I believe racism is a big part of it. There's quite a few people out there who have issues with their children seeing that a black man can be president (and at the same time be more eloquent they can even dream of). Maybe they fear that he will empower all the black kids ...
- Rene Wirtz
I think Rob Fisher's hit the nail on the head twice here: the vitriol against the 43rd President was far, far harsher than anything the 44th has faced so far, and the suggestion about "writing letters about how you can help the President" — what about the majority who are opposed to his current agenda? Are they expected to help achieve something they oppose? It could easily and should...

I grew up in the 60's and I can never remember the President speaking directly to me as a student. I 'm not sure its a good idea no matter who the President is. That being said, if the President did speak I am sure my parents would expect me to be respectful. You respect the office of Presidency, even if you don't respect the current occupant.
- Kim Landwehr
Over the past few years the American fabric has been broken down. People have embraced ignorance over knowledge. We listen to the talking heads on television and let them shape our beliefs instead of making our own decisions. We view disagreements as personal attacks w/o attempting to see the other side's point of view. Sad indeed.

Why? A prepared, pro anchor sandbags a blue collar guy, and you get off on that? Would you cheer Sean Hannity for destroying some lefty waitress for stepping out of her realm?
- Ed Shahzade /NextInstinct
@Ed: If that "lefty waitress" had claimed to be the owner of the diner and owed back taxes and claimed Bush planned 9/11 (akin to Sam's socialism garbage) and then used the media fame to take a job outside of her field (purely for money) and then defame that entire profession. Um, yeah, I'd be fine with Hannity for dressing her down.
- AJ Kohn
Some lefty waitress wasn't brought into the limelight like 'Joe' was, sorry, he deserves little sympathy.
- Nick
i'll cheer for @aj! i don't even understand how to make this into some red state/blue state issue. why? take it easy, cheney. this guy, joe the plumber, is an affront to ALL journalists—right, left, center, extreme or moderate. i'm reaching that conclusion on the basis of one, no, make that two facts: a) he's not a journalist; and b) he's a moron...allegedly.

This isn't one of those situations where we debate it passionately and then walk away thinking that the other guy is wrong but argued well. I'm not going to think of you as a thoughtful but misguided person with different ideas who still really cares about the country and the world. No, sorry, not this time. This is a great quote from this article: "Vote for someone smarter than you. Vote for someone who inspires you. Vote for someone who has not only traveled the world but who has also shown a deep understanding and compassion for it. The stakes are real and they're terrifyingly high. This election matters. It matters. It really matters. Let me say that one more time. This. Really. Matters." - good stuff.
- darodave
I'm getting the feeling that all of this making-Palin-the-story is actually helping the McCain campaign.
- Andrew Grumet
it is. Most Americans don't view the world through smart people's eyes. It is the economy stupid wins. This stuff fails.
- Robert Scoble
@Robert: If it is the economy. Or more to the point, the pocketbook, then why shouldn't Obama win? His income tax plan puts more money into more people's pockets. Or is the point that Obama needs to hit that point again and again and again?
- AJ Kohn
It is the economy stupid versus It is the Palin stupid. I'm not at all sure who will prevail. Palin is something new. The media like new things.
- Benedikt Koehler
@AJ: Actually McCain means a more stable economy and in the long run means that people will maintain their lot in life. It is the fear of the unknown that drive voters away from Obama. His policies have the ability to move America is a better direction, but also will certainly shake things up a bit. This scares the shit out of the average Joe American.
- Bob Blunk
Based upon the first paragraph of this article, I think there is a third category: the "responsible, informed, curious, thoughtful, mature, educated, empathetic, remotely serious", and civil individual. HuffPost just lost credibility with me when you post an article that starts off as crude as this one and then doesn't offer anything but one-sided, hot headed opinion.
- Greg Lato
@Bob: By stable, you mean he's not going to do much to it, right? Then yes I agree and yes, plenty of folks are scared of change. But ... the economy is in real trouble. More than I think people really understand. Home values are still way out of whack versus historic trends (see Case-Shiller), personal debt is very high, savings at zero, the dollar is weak and inflation is growing. And the inflation and GDP numbers aren't really accurate: http://www.chrismartenson.com/fuzzy_n...

What's funny though is that Harley Davidson bikes are assembled using a lot of parts made overseas now. Just the nature of the business. Unfortunately, the US org in charge of this sort of thing (FTC?) was never able to enact rules that would have required "Made in the US" to mean that at least 75% of the parts of a product come from the US. So anyone that currently assembles the finished product here can pretty much use the term.
- Alex Scoble
And requiring that the US government only use products made in the US would not work anyhow. Unless we want the US government to not use computers, or pretty much any electronics at all.
- Alex Scoble
Because Red White and Blue doesn't say AMERICA loud enough for you? It's called branding. And the Obama campaign is doing it pretty brilliantly so far.
- Alex Scoble
I'm OK with "Made in America" meaning final assembly myself, but whatever :) It's a cute logo - but it of course has no US flag on it so again it seems like his team just doesn't get his image problem. It isn't quaint to hope that someone how wants to be president might fly a US flag in addition to himself with his own logo. There is no depth here - it's just a brand and marketing hype. If Obama was selling jeans he would kick ass but increasingly he is failing to sell himself as a leader of any substance.
- Soulhuntre
That "factcheck" article is lame spin, like many articles there. Yes, there is a TINY US flag next to the planes ID number. It is in NO WAY the same thign as using a flagg as part of the design. Now, I don't really care about the plane - but let's be real - factcheck.org is not a non-partisan site. It has a clear pro-obama bias and doesn't check "facts" any more than "media matters" is a true watchdog group.

When I picked up my iPhone this morning, the salesman was trying fairly hard to get me to sign up for MobileMe but I kept on pushing him off, saying that I wanted to mess with the trial a little more before I committed. Very, very glad I did that.

I use MobileMe and so far, no issues. knock-on-wood
- Rom Feria
Been using MobileMe since it was called iTools and free with very few issues ever. It keeps my contacts and my calendars and my mail settings synced between 3 Macs.
- Adam Turetzky
Is there a known set of circumstances in which this occurs, or are the circumstances fairly random?
- Ontario Emperor
from fftogo
No reason, no idea why it happened? I understand it's bad news for you, and could be for others, but couldn't this be a random incident? Isn't it a little hasty to go telling everyone MobileMe is a disaster?

from NoiseRiver
Thanks Robert. Signed up for MobileMe, but have yet to investigate. Looks like you saved me the trouble!
- Bill Sanders
Tim: lots of other people I trust are having troubles with it too. It could be a random incident, but I'd rather have my readers be very careful with this. I've never seen this behavior before. No idea why it happened and since it's taken me more than two hours of resynching with Google Calendar to try to get it back I'm not very likely to try it again. Uninstall.
- Robert Scoble
I gave MobileMe a rather rigorous testing for a week, and found it to be just one aggravating issue after the next. http://tinyurl.com/6lnzg6 if you care to read.

Is this just an Outlook problem? Or can it affect iCal too?
- John
John: I don't know. I'm using Mobile Me on a Windows Vista computer with Outlook 2007.
- Robert Scoble
Thanks. I just backed up my iCal just in case. Apple needs to get their sh!t together. First iPhone 2.0 and then of course the MobileMe disaster.
- John
Thank god, this is one of the few mishaps of MobileMe that didn't happen to me, yet. Woke up to deleted contacts on my iPhone one morning. Thank god, they were "only" deleted on the phone, so nothing was lost. But it just makes you remember: "When was the last backup?"
- Holger Eilhard
I don't like to rant about Apple, but don't they test this stuff. what about 2.0 firmware for iPod touch and iPhones that is really unstable with the appstore? I know they can't test every config, but atleast try to work out the bugs. Everyday I here of another mobileMe disasters.. I'm happy I still have old treo, which is buggy too, but at least it won't automatically delete my contacts and appointments for me...
- Sebastiaan van den Akker

from twhirl
Are there any free and/or open source products which fulfill the same features as MobileMe? Preferably open source so anyone can just up and install as required.
- Scott Jarkoff
Before making such proclamations, you might want to do a little homework. Did you even talk to MobileMe tech support? http://www.apple.com/support.... There might have been a simple fix had you checked. I've been using MobileMe since July 18th; I sync three Macs and my iPhone and haven't had any major issues. I'm adding an XP laptop next; I don't expect any problems with that either.
- Albert Willis
Albert: a simple fix? Google Calendar has been going for six hours recreating my calendar so far. This was a problem with Outlook. I have 8,400+ calendar entries. It's only recreated 2,400 of them so far. Sigh. Macs don't even have Outlook so, of course you haven't had problems yet. Hope nothing bad happens on your XP machine. I'd back up just in case. At least my calendar will be back tomorrow cause I had a backup.
- Robert Scoble
That is, there could have been something Apple could have done to restore your calendar entries, assuming you synced your calendars to MobileMe. That would have been worth a shot. Again, we don't know the culprit here, between Outlook, Vista, MobileMe and whatever else is installed on your machine. I've done enough tech support to know we don't have the complete story here.
- Albert Willis
Albert: no, once the calendar entries were deleted, you needed to move them over from somewhere else. There was no way in hell I was going to let it touch my calendars anymore after that. I know Google Calendar will work. My trust in this is shot.
- Robert Scoble
I know it's not as critical a failure as calendar but you should try the gallery...I struggled with using it and sharing it for a week before giving up and going back to flickr...
- Kamath (नमः)
I didn't have any problems with calendars on MobileMe, but it decided one morning to delete all of my contacts bar three. That was the point at which I decided I'd move back to using Exchange, which Just Works on the iPhone, and (via Entourage) on my Mac. And amazingly, I had people trying to tell me it wasn't Apple's fault, despite it being Apple technology, running Apple software, on an Apple machine!
- Ian Betteridge
people love to piss on apple these days, ain't that right? Exchange deletes calendars as well as google calendar. It just happens. Ask an exchange admin how much fun it is to run that b*tch ;)
- muzo
muzo: I dare you to come up with any Fortune 1,000 CTO who says that Exchange deleted a calendar like this with a recent version of Exchange.
- Robert Scoble
yeah, but from the user end it WORKS. get it? Exchange == most worthwhile product MS produces. Period. I'm going to bed.
- Andrew Feinberg
Andrew: right. And anyway, Apple is the beneficiary of more free good PR than any other tech company around.
- Robert Scoble
It's a version 1 Apple product - that means "early beta" in anyone else's language.
- Andrew Garrett
With every post I get happier that I did not waste my $100 on mobile fail.
- Bob Blunk
I'm incredibly sad to hear that this implementation is failing so badly. It's a utopian feature we all benefit from. If Robert ditches this and convinces other to, Apple will really miss out of good feedback from the community. Anyone found out if Apple responded to this major setback?
- Mark Aitken
Not worth the very limited utility given the fact that it won't sync up with Google Calendar, either. I got MobileMe through my brother's family plan, and still had to buy Spanning Sync to do that. And I have to keep the intermediary computer on (my home iMac) because it doesn't sync OTA. There's got to be something better than this...
- Jason Menayan
Had the initial trouble with MobleMe during the .Mac switch and have stopped using it - even though I paid good money for the service. On the flip side, I'm finding Live Mesh to be surprisingly more useful and it's a free "Tech Preview." Go figure.

While this is forgivable in a person -- if I were as tired and stressed as he is, I'd probably do this kind of thing every single time I had to field two questions in a row -- this is just not tolerable in a candidate for president, who will, if elected (unless he's Reagan or Shrub), presumably have far more stressful moments on the job, and will need the mental stamina to stay with it.

Patrick: I'm a republican - the fact that the guy can't answer the question about his campaign claiming Obama plays the race card is a joke. The fact that he can't speak articulately to his work to promote racially equality across his career with ease is either shameful or truly sad - take your pick. Every day I get closer to crossing party lines. I just want someone I can believe in - is that too much to ask?

It'd be one thing if this was an isolated instance. How about the one where they ask about Carly's stand on birth control? Also, it's okay to have this happen but it's what you do that is crucial. Lose your place, don't ah, um, hem - that's not going to cut it as President. "I'm sorry, could you repeat that question?" would do nicely, cover any mental lapses and give time to process.

I like obama and i don't like this video. Those were non trivial questions asked in intelligent language spoken quickly in a row. I'm 36 and I could easily have gotten mixed up too. The President might as well be called the Public Speaker in Chief. This stuff IS important. At least 2/3 of the job is about eloquently passing along a message that someone else has created
- Nicholas Molnar
I think it's a shame that so much attention is played to such moments - on both sides. No one is perfect for sure, but these two both stand for more of the same - big government, high spending, way too much interfering in our lives, a slide toward a European style nanny state.
- Ian May
ugh. when isn't he having a senior moment?

McCain still looks like a freakin' super genius next to the shrub.
- Internet's Tad
That's right, Obama is not perfect. But he's fit and 46, and McCain has had cancer and is 71. Big difference, health-wise. You may not like it, but it's true.

Another thing to look into -- I don't think McCain was all that smart, even when he was younger and in better health. We need to find out more about that.
- Dave Winer
Eh - I was a big fan of McCain back in 2000. If it was McCain in 2000 vs Obama today I'd have a lot of thinking to do.

It's not McCain's senior moments that worry me, it's his lack of knowledge of foreign affairs, geography, etc. AND his temper. I also think he obsessed with military defeat due to his past trauma.

I hate his hypocrisy. He makes a big deal about how he's always put his country first, and then he runs that fucked up ad that makes the presidency about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. He'll fuck the country just so he can win an election. That's the Republican Party. They should just disband they're such sad fucks.

Thats just sad. Look at Crist's face. He must be thinking what have I done? I bailed on blocking offshore drilling for this guy????

For the apologists, there is no excuse for this. If you want to be President you have to always be on. The entire friggin world expects it and acts upon your every word and facial expression. This is worse than Reagen in his 2nd term. Once I would say he was thinking about something else, but this happens everytime he faces a tough question about his record!

Interesting that something as stupid and insignificant as this gets 30 comments, while a story of real substance and meaning such as the Antrax investigation gets not one bit of discussion. I think some conclusions can be made about that.

"Barack Obama and John McCain each receive 44% of the vote in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking presidential trial heat of nationwide registered voters. This is the second consecutive day the candidates have been exactly tied."
- newsjunk.com
he's running for President of the United States of America not Prime Minister of Berlin .. we vote they don't so why is he holding a rally in Berlin????

There are an awful lot of US citizens and military in Germany don't forget. And it's a bloody good poster. (edit - 270,000, the fourth largest ex-pat community to be precise and apparently, they traditionally lean Republican) - http://tinyurl.com/6dvqka

I'm spending lots of time in Russia these days and more than one person has expressed the sentiment that the President of the United States has more influence in their life than the president of their own country. That makes the Presidential Election in the USA very important to people all over the world.
- scott willeke
very interesting comment scott, I think tht the president of the US is sort of a role as president of the world, everyone worldwide has an opinion of him and knows who he is and his decisions have an effect on everyone
- Andrew Fielding
from twhirl
If the world citizens had a chance to vote in the US elections, Obama would be the winner. And, Scott is right. The US President influences a lot more people than just the citizens of USA.
- Suhit Anantula
a cranky old man who's a night watchman at my company -- and I'm always working late it seems -- says obama will rise from obscurity and charm the entire world with nothing but his words and his charisma. check on the oratorical power. check on rising from obscurity. check on charming the world now. and then that cranky old man said, read the Book of Revelations to see what happens next... ummmm.....
- .LAG liked that
@Jody, actually Bush had more executive experience than Obama does. I believe the phrase fits.
- Ryan Petty
Not to mention Bush would probably repeat Kennedy's faux pax and declare himself a jelly-filled donut.
- Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
@Benedict That's the problem with discussing an image. There may well be an English equivalent. @Ryan Petty LOL.
- mattpovey
@Mark "The citizens of Berlin do refer to themselves as Berliner; what they do not refer to as Berliner are jelly doughnuts. While these are known as "Berliner" in other areas of Germany, they are simply called Pfannkuchen (pancakes) in and around Berlin." (Wikipedia)
- linearthoughts
I've had Germans tell me otherwise. The use of the indefinite article "ein" was what made it wrong. The proper nomenclature is "Ich bin Berlinner."
- Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
From the other side of the pond I'm actually really excited about what's happening in the US. I hope with all my heart that Obama gets for many reasons, mainly because he's a rare commodity....an exciting politician with a vision. I wish we had one in the UK.
- Toby Graham
Erm Toby the last couple of times we had that they were named Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher. Do the Americans really want that kind of 'excitement'?
- Adewale Oshineye
@ Adewale - Neither of them are what I would call exciting. Maggie did have a bigger pair of balls than Tony though.
- Toby Graham
When I said 'exciting' I was referring to the wars (Falklands, Iraq) and the rapid transition from hope to bitter disappointment.
- Adewale Oshineye
"A humbled Obama is worse than a proud McCain"? I can't imagine disagreeing more with a statement. Isn't the desire for Strong Leadership regardless of actual agenda what gives us Bush type people in the first place?
- ⓞnor
You're interpreting it the way you want to and that's fine, but that's not what I meant. Read the rest of the piece. (And believe me I don't think a proud McC is very likely.)
- Dave Winer
Nice call on Aaron Brown. I liked him as an anchor on CNN. Never understand why they ditched him. Happy 4th everyone. Let's celebrate CHANGE and a new direction today. PS - if you are in Seattle, you should stop by our 4th of July party.
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Oh, I read it. Part 1: Bush sucks (no argument here!). Part 2: Obama's recent "centering" is disappointing (ditto!). Part 3 is the part I apparently misunderstand, probably something about how you're using "proud" and "humbled"? But it's hard for me to see how McCain could be better than Obama for someone who expressed the first two sentiments, no matter how proud or humble.
- ⓞnor
Nor, glad we got back in synch on that. I still have hope. But I also now have doubt where I didn't before.
- Dave Winer
Dave & Nor---I too disagree w/recent Obama positions. However, I never expected perfection or 100% agreement w/any man so I think people are coming back to earth a bit. I appreciated his post acknowledging those who disagree w/his position on FISA and not trying to browbeat them into agreeing with his position.
- R. Ferguson
Obama figures 'You're all gonna vote for me anyway - I'll just move to the center to get some more swing votes.'
- Andy Wibbels
Since when does a candidate have to go "my way or the highway" on every issue? In an election year, with a (sort of) one vote majority, this was the best they were gonna get. Outraged Dems should be looking to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) who pushed the "compromise" bill through the House when the Senate had already passed telecom immunity and certain Committee Chairs did not want to consider the Senate Bill. I seriously suggest you read the rules of the House and Senate,
- Andrew Feinberg
Andrew as much as I vehemently oppose Bush and his Cabal, how many compromises do we need to gulp down with disgust from the Democrats?
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
It's possible. Personally? I think it will be easier to beat Obama so that works for me. Of course, there is a lot of irregularity in the voting, so there may be lawsuits.

Speaking as a person who happily voted for Hillary on Super Tuesday, the writing is on the wall, and it is time. It was time last week. It will also be time next week... but it's time.
- Louis Gray
I don't think she will give up until the convention. It would be best for the party if she did, but she doesn't care.
- Brandon Titus
That would be a bomb for sure... but somehow I think it's more likely she goes Lieberman and run independent.
- Michael Turro

She's going to try to broker a deal for something. She's too much of a politician not to. She's willing to make Obama burn money to stay in the spotlight.
- Dana Franks
from Alert Thingy
As I've written before, she'll be like Ron Paul: running for the presidency long after the inauguration.
- Akiva Moskovitz
from Alert Thingy
Oh, how I wish. But she won't, she'll fight to the end, and then fight to re-define the end, all so she can win.
- Grant Bierman
Hillary absolutely has not conceded. She is on the attack.
- Soulhuntre
from twhirl
Seems that she has done just the opposite. I can't believe she said Indiana was the "tie-breaker" and she keeps pounding her "gas tax holiday".
- Brandon Titus
That is what I love about this country, every now and then the completely unexpected happens. This is in many ways the story of the nation.
- Carlos Leyva
I still don't know why Clinton hasn't quit. She's a poison pill for Democrats.
- Mike Reynolds
to Mike Reynolds. it's simple: EGO. She was supposed to be the shoo-in, and she's losing to an upstart. hard to accept (via Alert Thingy)

You could go for black turtleneck/blue jeans and be a tech mogul. I've heard it's been done.

I almost (almost) pick up my first pair of Converse yesterday at Target. That's right, Target. I'm not afraid to admit I love Target, but it just didn't feel right buying shoes there.
- Vince DeGeorge
@Vince: There's no shame in shopping at Target. They have some really good stuff. In fact, it was at Target where Camilla saw the display of Converse shoe boxes and pointing out the big stars exclaiming, "Twinkle twinkle stars!"
- April Buchheit
Oh, thank goodness, I honestly thought it was a sign of getting old. Wait, I am old.
- Vince DeGeorge
No, I honestly think that Target has gotten a little more hip these days. But then again, I'm old too...
- April Buchheit
Target has definitely gotten more hip. They've been getting high end designers to sell cheap versions of their lines -- Proenza Schouler, Alice Temperly, Erin Fetherstone, etc. I heard that the guy who led Target's rebranding effort also led the design for Apple's retail stores.

I wish Eddie Bauer hadn't scrapped their black jeans - I used to have them shipped to the UK as I liked them so much
- Andy Davies
Where I live they actually come and go into fashion. I would say in around 5- to 10-year circles. When they're completely out of fashion, I need to order from the US, but currently I can buy them here in all kinds of variants.
- Philipp Lenssen
No black tutleneck? (BTW -- loving the inline videos -- a pop-out like reader would be cool too. It would need to have live updating comments.)

it is interesting seeing him speak and avoid his views on disease. (if you believe the stories)
