In Hastings si Auckland, Noua Zeelanda, se incheaga o gasca de emigranti din Anglia, Romania, Japonia etc. Povestitorul, Hansie, Katalin, Nicu Popa, Roland muncesc intr-o livada de mere, zugravesc, ruleaza jointuri, incearca sa comunice, sa iubeasca, sa obtina rezidenta neozeelandeza si sa duca „o viata de adevar, liniste si dreptate”. De fapt, viata pare sa se scurga pe linga ei, dar se scurge cu un farmec straniu, care invaluie si personajele, si non-intimplarile lor.

Mona Kuhn was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1969, of German descent. She earned her degree in the United States from Ohio State University. Since 1998, she has been an independent studies scholar at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited, and is included in public and private collections, internationally and in the United States. Kuhn’s first monograph, Photographs, was debut by Steidl in 2004; immediately followed by, Evidence, published by Steidl and released in Spring 2007. In 2007 Mona was a visiting artist at The Pasadena Arts Center, where she taught a portfolio class to advanced students. Mona Kuhn has lectured about her work at the Cincinnati Art Museum, North Carolina Museum of Art, Georgia Museum of Art, and the International Center of Photography in NYC.

In researching for a series of nudes I'm shooting in a couple weeks, I came across her work and loved it. She really can work the square frame, and what I like about it, is that the nudity in her work isn't the focus. It's more like these people happen to be nude.
