"Arrogant doesn't bother me much so long as problems get fixed. But not providing info regarding shell and root access while telling me the problems were my fault for wanting something installed? Not especially cool as things needed fixed and giving me shell access so I can get some one to fix it... *sighs* The guy fixing things said that the guy who did it for the past almost two years clearly knew what he was doing it, but he approached it like a developer and that could be problematic because too many hacks can cause problems. If I ever need it, will ask. :)"

"can you elaborate on any of your work with academics re: fandom, the application of lit theory you don't like, what you do like? I find that literary criticism is the wrong mode of critique to talk about fan communities on a large scale. It puts the focus on the creations by fans, to the exclusion and in isolation of the community structure behind them. I've also found that many who come from a literary criticism background lack a research background; they do surveys that are incredibly self selecting and don't understand what the implications of that are. This is really interesting to me, and something I'd barely given any thought to. I'm aware fandom is studied, but I've never looked into how or why or whatever. I have a background in education. (I have an MSEd in Instructional Technology to be exact. Toss that with working in schools for about six years.) I also have self taught myself a fair amount of historical methodology, more from the practical applications than from the..."

"We've found some one who is doing the tech work for us. I hang out in a chat room and the complaining about all things broken led to : Get access to the shell and we'll find some one here to fix it for you. (I've got enough connections that if I really wanted stuff, I can probably find some one to do help me with it. I love the wiki community.) The guy who did it for the past year was fantastic in many ways; we would not have survived with out him and in many ways I cannot speak highly enough about him. He just couldn't get certain big problems for me fixed (or wouldn't fix them) and I needed them fixed. I think he has a sense of ownership over the back end and getting outside help... *sighs* I love the kid. Seriously do. Just sometimes, ego needs to be set aside so things can get fixed. And the guy we have helping us out is getting that stuff fixed. We're doing a complete rebuild of Mediawiki from what I understanding, replacing extensions that are no longer necessary, that may be..."
