For the first time in my life, I put up a political (Obama) yard sign. Never felt compelled to before, but once my next door neighbor's McCain sign went up, I had no choice! My street: Obama 2, McCain 1

I bought a blue ladies shirt and two white buttons. One is on my purse and I proudly wear the other on my apron at work. Here in Florida. A red state. I love it.

Still waiting for the O'Biden car magnet I ordered the day they announced. C'mon guys, do you want to win or not?

One of the best docs ever. And to think it's still ongoing. Supposedly another guy jumped into the mix and set the highest score possible on Donkey Kong.

From the Obama campaign - looks like they took all the Obama branding off the site this morning, except for the little guy down at the bottom ;)

It apparently doesn't want to work past the email part for me. Although I'm still waiting for my registration card in the mail since I moved back here to FL. Blah.

Worked great for me ... it validated that my registration is correct for my current address. Saved me a phone call, which is nice. It's probably a good idea for anyone (regardless of party preference) to check this as well.

Well, this was inevitable: the Hitler's Last Days meme collides with M_NUS and techno. http://www.beatportal.com/feed... I need to watch the orig docu.

"I think I might be able to explain some of Sara Palin's appeal. She's the "American Idol" candidate. Consider. What defines an "American Idol" finalist? They're good-looking, work well on television, have a sunny personality, are fierce competitors, and so talented, why, they're darned near the real thing. There's a reason "American Idol" gets such high ratings. People identify with the contestants. They think, Hey, that could almost be me up there on that show!"

BRILLIANT. Ebert is such a clear writer, with simple, direct, and powerful conclusions. That's dang hard to do.

(On a side note. Palin hasn't ever been to Europe?? WTF? I hadn't heard that one. Truly unbelievable for someone who wants to play in national politics. Also extremely frightening (add it to the list)....)

actually, according to Politico.com Palin had been to Canada and Germany with a stop over in Ireland - http://bit.ly/leUit - hmm. let me see... i grew up in Asia (in a country which is close to other Asian countries), moved to the U.S., drove to Canada, stopped over in Japan and Taiwan, visited London, stayed for months (multiple times) in Ireland, so i guess i have more foreign policy experience than Palin. and i wear cool glasses too. too bad i don't do lipstick :)

it's disgusting how the these politicians use the media and the media use these politicians like bacteria. it's an outrage how they keep the public in a perpetual state of confusion and hysteria while preventing the actual issues from being discussed.

Got another version of this letter, ca. 1971. Will have to dig it up, out of the archives. Kesey & Ellison didn't reply to my fan letters, but Heinlein (his wife, actually) and Disch did.

That's great Steven, I would love to see that one as well.

"Selecting Sarah Palin, who was touted all summer by Rush Limbaugh, is no way to attract most women, including die-hard Clinton supporters. Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton's candidacy stood for -- and that Barack Obama's still does. To vote in protest for McCain/Palin would be like saying, "Somebody stole my shoes, so I'll amputate my legs.""

"Palin's value to those patriarchs is clear: She opposes just about every issue that women support by a majority or plurality. She believes that creationism should be taught in public schools but disbelieves global warming; she opposes gun control but supports government control of women's wombs; she opposes stem cell research but approves "abstinence-only" programs, which increase...
