How do you actually write the blog entry itself? Do you write the text in one go, in parts? Do you add the links as you go or all in one at the end? Formatting: during or at the end?
I have about 30 posts in my drafts. I write as I feel. Sometimes, I add links as I go along, other times I post [INSERT LINK/EXCERPT/IMAGE] My browser's blog editor allows me to finesse formatting, which I do at the end. The only time I have do more work is if I'm posting to a WPMU site. - Anika
I usually write all in one go, then add in links and images afterwards. Basically anything I have to go get from somewhere else goes in at the end. Unless I'm stuck in the writing, and then I'll go do some of that stuff to give my mind a rest, then come back to the writing fresh. Formatting I do as I go because I do everything plaintext and write the html by hand. It's easier just to do it as I go. - Jandy
I do a lot of research usually so I collect links during the research phase. I have many half finished articles, so if I don't concentrate on an article it won't get done. The writing is iterative. Get stuff down in a stream of consciousness then organize and edit and rephrase. Perfect writing usually means no writing. - Todd Hoff
It depends, I have one I have 4 pages of notes for, but have never gotten to the draft stage, normally I just write a title(idea), and a little context reminder. I tend to write them out in one or two goes, in a non rich-text format, edit it there, copy and paste into the text field, do some final editing, and then finish off with formatting & linking. - Gimminy
I generally have a one-sentence joke as a starting point, pound out a paragraph, and then start laying in images or video that I can use to get beyond the one-joke staring point. The sad thing is how often I fail at that. - Roger Benningfield
I collect links during the research phase, and I write notes and an outline in a text editor. Over time, the outline turns into diamonds. I mean, into prose. I usually don't add formatting until I'm getting closer to publishing. I have lots of ideas that never get posted, so I don't want to waste time formatting something that's not going to work out. - Amit Patel
I add the links as I go along. - Morton Fox
I've really realized lately I need to finish an article while I'm still passionate about the idea. If I just start it and then think I'll get back to it, it's rare that I do that or do as good a job as I know I could have. It's hard to recover that web of ideas that were present when the idea was at its most passionate. Write during the heat of passion. - Todd Hoff
