The whole "American auto companies" annoys me. Like your Acura, foreign car makers are more American than Ford, or GM. Plus they're smarter
- BCK
my Toyota is also American made and runs beautifully
- Valeria Maltoni
Toyota and Honda have US plants specifically so they can say they are American made. The Big Three are in Big Trouble, IMO.
- Jenni Brand
what if we would start to shift more toward walkable cities and really good public transportation instead of insisting on 1-car-per-person mentality ...

If a whole bunch of people with G1 phones gathered together would it be known as a G-Spot?

I love the mail integration. The AnyCut app will even let you place a shortcut on your desktop to a specific Gmail label, which is SO useful for me.

I won't be getting one any time soon but I'm looking forward to playing with it!

I agree about the keyboard, even though I have had this problem before with Blackberries due to my large hands.
- Steven Perez
@Anika - the phone is not called Android, Google's platform is. The phone is called the T-Mobile G1. :)
- Aaron deMello
I know that Aaron, but it's most certainly NOT "gphone".
- Anika
Because Palin is a Republican it's ok to call her the "C" but when some one says they hate Obama we have to complain? Or how about the fact that so much complaining as been done of how McCain attacks Obama?
- Colide81 (James)
but once I see things like this I'm reminded the Obama supporters have nothing to complain about. Very very bad taste!
- Colide81 (James)
Calling her names is not quite the same thing as calling for a lynching, but I agree this is in bad taste.
- Neal Jansons
from twhirl
Perhaps using the C word for her in terms of what she possesses? Ok, the word is offensive to some, and the meaning was a double one. Not Good.
- Ian May
In my book respecting women whether they are Liberal or Conservative, black or white, shouldn't be a hard thing to do. If there is one thing this election has shown us is I see that to some people the idea of showing repsect to people despite the way they talk, or the things they believe isn't a value in America. If you don't talk like they do then its ok to call them names and verbully...

Goes too far. I don't like her at all, but using the c word is not cool.
- Bec Rowe @d0tski
Sorry to the person who posted this but I have heard so much hate and mean stuff against Palin and seeing this brook the straw for me. I am fed up with the mentality that its ok to be mean to those who annoy you or go against what you think. I have no problem with attacking McCain on the issues, like if he says he wants to do one thing as President and you disagree or find some...

It didn't make me want to explode in anger, but it's a bit pathetic really. I don't respect her in terms of her political values, and would argue that with her or her supporters, but simply using names doesn't win anyone an argument, quite the reverse. As for the C word itself, it's only a word, no more or less offensive than the F one.
- Ian May
@BeeLing, I think the 'thing' with the C word is the intent behind it.
- Bec Rowe @d0tski
The joke on how they all kind of sound the same diminishes the usage of the C-word, for me
- anna sauce
True Ian, but ever since Palin has started running as VP all I see is alot of nastyness from people hating on her, and this isn't the first time I've seen her being called names and I'm angry because I'm tired of it. Why can't people get a life, instead of calling her names because she doesn't look like they do, or because she sounds alittle different? I think it's very self centered...

- Colide81 (James)
Nobody is attacking her because of her looks or how she sounds. She represents a dangerous strain of gleefully ignorant, repressive, and censorious thought in American conservatism. She espouses the kind of anti-intellectual rhetoric that is the exact opposite of what we need, and, quite frankly, which should have been cleared up by the whole "The Enlightenment" thing. If you want to know what spurs the anti-religion movement, there's your poster girl.
- Jason Carreira
Ah yes, more work from the "tolerant" left. The last one should be changed to I communist"
- Spencer
More bulk groupling of anything not republican into the one labeled "left". Didn't read, did you?
- Michael W. May
from twhirl
Oh so because you think she is stupid to sum up what you think of her it's ok to treat her the way she's been treated? And oh I guess you haven't seen Obama speak on a stage with out a Teleprompter or with out any help with knowing what he's going to say, he does just as Palin did in one interview. But Obama has made several mistakes, such as he thinks there are 59 states. Look it up on YouTube if you don't believe me that he said it.
- Colide81 (James)
I am not particularly leftist myself - but anyway left wing or even socialist is simply NOT the same as Communist. Economically I am about central; in terms of Governmental power, I'm very much libertarian, which neither the Dems nor the GOP are - they both represent more big Government.
- Ian May
Boy, I sure love how the Obama camp is keeping things "civil" and is not resorting to "name-calling."
- Joey Gibson
yah, sorry, I can't stand Palin, but this kind of thing is not OK
- Nathan Rein
I tend to agree with Mr. Zivkovic on this one.
- david beckwith
@Collide81 Yeah, go ahead an roll what I said up into "she's stupid". That's helpful. Stupid people don't necessarily want to legislate their religion, nor do they necessarily want to censor what I can or can't read. She's dangerous. I agree that the kind of thing shown above doesn't help, but it doesn't make Palin any less of an imminent danger.
- Jason Carreira
I tend to agree with Mr. Beckwith on this one.
- Bora Zivkovic
I don't like Sarah Palin. I'll even venture to say that she's dangerous, and shows that McCain has questionable judgement. But I would never EVER call her the word used in that first photo. It's disgusting, sexist, and says more about the person who made the graphic than it does about the person it is leveled against.
- cecily
@Colide - Sarah Palin is a big girl and fully capable of defending herself. She's not a damsel in distress. She's also done a lot of very dangerous and divisive things in the past couple of weeks. The picture is disrespectful to her and women, but the amount of anger you're feeling over it is a little strange considering some of the attitudes and ignorance this woman has helped foster in the past month.
- Angel Smith
The c word, and the reactions to it, are not to be trifled with

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me. But still, not classy... could have made the same point by sticking to real issues.
- LogEx
I've heard some feminist and lesbian feminist performance artists reclaim the word "cunt" as something powerful to have. It was convincing. At the time. That's not what's happening here, though. Made me wince.
- Rick Powell
Someone needs their mommy to wash their mouth out with soap. Disgusting.
- Chris Baskind
They would have been just fine without the Palin one. Boo hiss. :(
- Yolanda
The flipside of this is some neocon bloggers and writers (ahem, Rich Lowry) talking about Palin as if she were still in a beauty pageant. "Little starbursts," indeed. Both responses seem, oh, a tad sexist. Imagine if Andrew Sullivan had gone on and on about what a nice ass Obama has.
- Rick Powell
And they keep telling me it's the Palin / McCain people who are mean and lacking in class. Right. I guess this is the type of discourse you get when you can simply yell racism if anyone responds in kind.
- Soulhuntre
@Soulhuntre you continue to conflate simple classless namecalling with racist xenophobic hatemongering. Here's the difference... The above graphic is negative about one person. The hate being spread by the right attacks whole groups of people indiscriminate of their individual beliefs and qualities, simply because of their skin color, religion, etc. There's a BIG difference.
- Jason Carreira
Yeah I am truly sick of the moral equivalence being drawn between calling someone stupid and a cunt and the racism and xenophobia among the GOP base. As I've said elsewhere: A corrupt, degenerate ideology.
- Rick Powell
Cunt, cunt, cunt, cunt, cunt! I love the word "cunt". It offends me when people use "cunt" as an insult because i love the word "cunt". I used to say "cunt" instead of "can't". Cunt we all just get along? Cunt words just be tools and people be offensive? Words with intent can be offensive. Words without intent cunt be offensive. They just have a definition, more words. Sticks and stones.

In fairness to the people driving by the Obama supporters, getting shouted out by some dick on the side of the road seldom puts anyone in a good mood. When confronted, people get confrontational.

"Russia underlined its right to a "preventive" nuclear strike this week in what military analysts interpreted as a move to introduce more clarity into the nation's defense doctrine. The statements, made by Chief of General Staff Yuri Baluyevsky on Saturday, were followed by naval exercises in the northern Atlantic that will feature over 40 aircraft of the Air Force. Though unrelated, the developments pointed to a Russia not so much on the offensive as a one that was eager to bring its defense doctrine in line with that of the Western world and make it more up to date with contemporary military demands."
