I don't understand why people keep pushing me to bullsh*t my way into a job. If I don't know something, I'm not going to straight up lie about it to get my foot in the door. I can't do that. It doesn't matter if I can figure it out later (which I could), it just isn't right.
You don't have to lie. Try, "I've never used that, but I'm reasonably familiar with it's capabilities, and based on my track record I'm sure I can be productive very quickly"

I'm being advised to apply for stuff that I just don't qualify for. The argument being that employers don't really know what they're looking for...or something.

Rah, I've screened a bunch of resumes and nothing chafes me more than interviewing someone who lied about a skill that's required for the job. It used to make me crazy.
