Do you use your admin page (e.g. in WordPress), do you use a bookmarklet, do you use a site like Posterous then auto-post to your blog or do you use an app like BlogDesk?
- Kol Tregaskes
I write mine in word then paste it into the writer page of my blog (wordpress) and format it up and add any extras such as images and links that I place in a pair of square brackets while drafting. Gives me spell check and secures me against any problems.
- alphaxion
alphaxion, so that works OK (from Word to WordPress)?
- Kol Tregaskes
Sasha, does Tubmlr allow you to auto-post to a WordPress blog?
- Kol Tregaskes
I've had no probs with pasting the contents into the editor.. it might be wiser to select the HTML view first before doing so, as I re-encountered today when I pasted the contents of an email from hotmail and got horrifc amounts of extra crap.
- alphaxion
Kol, I'm not sure if it has native support, but I think I know a way around :)
- Sasha Kovaliov(.com)
I think if I posted via a bookmarklet it would have to be pretty advanced; drag-and-drop images and text, edit text formatting and adding hyperlinks, etc. But also you need to add tags and select categories. The WordPress "Press This" bookmarklet is pretty good. I'd love if it had some of FriendFeed's bookmarklet features.
- Kol Tregaskes
alphaxion, have you tried the Press This bookmarklet? That's pretty good.
- Kol Tregaskes
Sasha, I've just tried Tumblr's bookmarklet but you cannot drag and drop into it. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
I've been trying Posterous tonight, the bookmarklet is OK but you cannot edit links, format text, add tags and select categories. You can auto-post to your blog but what happens about your ping services in WordPress?
- Kol Tregaskes
I keep it simple and just use the native platform. Used to be TypePad, but now is WordPress. I've tried 3rd party approaches, but personally didn't gain much so I opt for the simplest approach.
- Kevin C. Tofel
Sasha, agree but I can't seem to click on post with any of the bookmarklets (apart from FriendFeed of course).
- Kol Tregaskes
If the WordPress Press This bookmarklet had the highlight-text and click-images features that the FriendFeed bookmarklet has then that would great but alas... :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
hmm what problem are you trying to solve? maybe there is another solution.
- Sasha Kovaliov(.com)
I'd rather take the time to set things up myself rather than rely upon a tool to do it for me. It may be so 90's, but I prefer the control ;)
- alphaxion
Now a days I use Blogo.. in the past I'd just open a text editor and write in there and copy/paste when I'm done
- Bastard Operator From FF
@alphaxion i was just kidding with Kol :) I still don't get what Kol is trying to do.
- Sasha Kovaliov(.com)
I know, but you also have a point too :) The way people are posting the info has changed from wysiwyg editors to doing much of the work for you already.
- alphaxion
My blog is to share my photos from Flickr, bookmark any photography-related articles I are worthy, ideally share from FriendFeed any photography-related questions I post and, of course, post written articles with images. To get my blog post right is the important one, if it's shared to/from Posterous, Tumblr, FriendFeed, etc. then great but it's not a priority Either way I need something very simple and would like FriendFeed integration as much as possible....
- Kol Tregaskes
...I can easily highlight the text and click on the images of my Flickr stream, edit it then share here. I'm after something similar for my WordPress blog.
- Kol Tregaskes
The Press This bookmarklet is very good but not perfect and I'm wondering if there is a better solution.
- Kol Tregaskes
In additional I'm also trying to get the FriendFeed Comments plugin to work so that I can sync comments from the blog to here for any of my blog articles, along with the RSS feed from my blog imported to FriendFeed to show the images and an excerpt from the article - but neither are working atm. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
The bonus is this new Fresh From FriendFeed WP plugin, which can import *from* FriendFeed. Once this plugin actually starts working, it begs the question, where should I write my blog articles: in FriendFeed sycned to my blog or in my blog shared to FriendFeed? I think it's still the latter but it's a nice option to have.
- Kol Tregaskes
I would like to have a very strong blog-FriendFeed link so would definitely want the FF Comments plugin to work and definitely want the RSS feed from my blog in FF to show images and an excerpt of some kind. My question is how I would go about creating the articles for all this to work.
- Kol Tregaskes
For me Windows Live Writer works the best. I have tried many others without switching.
- Ralph Poole
Outline, first draft in word processor, copy it to blog, check zemanta suggestions, preview, then post
- Shevonne
Zemanta? This has been recommended to me, but I didn't like the look of it. Shevonne, how do you use it, how does it help?
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol Sorry took so long. Was at the dentist. It suggests images, related articles, tags, links, so you don't waste as much time with those kinds of things. I don't blindly select all the tags and links, but usually 8 out of 10, Zemanta suggests the ones I need. Great tool.
- Shevonne
I sit down and type until I'm finished, then I revise and then I post.
- Mathew™ one of a kind
I either use bookmarklet for mac and iPhone onto tumblr and add text or scribefire on the mac, I'm looking forward to marsedit however not tumblr friendly yet!
- Carl Plant
from BuddyFeed
I use the built-in blog editor in my Flock Browser. If I need to mull over more content, or determine which blog it goes to, I save to draft right there. When I'm ready to publish, I can post to any of my 7 blogs or to any of the 5 blogs I guest post to.
- Anika
Shevonne, no worries. It looked to me like it used images on it's site, am I wrong? Maybe I should try it again, but still working on the FF Comments plugin.
- Kol Tregaskes
Since I write from many different computers, I tend to use my Admin page. If all else fails? I use Zoho
- ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
Not sure about the images because I like using my own. I love the FF Comments plugin. There are two. I use the one by Glenn Saven
- Shevonne
Kol, Zemanta's a pretty nifty tool when it works property. It pulls up CC photos and related content. I could work on a blog post and via Zemanta, find out that others have already written almost exactly what I just wrote. My only problem is that if you need a photo, you have to type certain keywords within a certain amount of words for it to really work. That's annoying on short posts. But I don't use the WP-plugin, I have the Zemanta add-on for my browser, so it works on several websites.
- Anika
@Anika Yeah, that is why I do my own image searching
- Shevonne
Shevonne, that's the one I'm trying to get working. There is another one? Do you know what the difference is?
- Kol Tregaskes
Anika/Shevonne, then I'll add the Zemanta plugin again and give it a go. Ta, for the info.
- Kol Tregaskes
I do the bulk of the writing in Google Docs, which I find is well suited to that kind of writing. I sometimes post to the blog right from there, but usually I'll copy and paste to the blog's native editor and then adjust formatting and tags as necessary before publishing.
- Eric P
Shevonne, sorry to keep asking you questions, but what version of WordPress are you using with the FF Comments plugin?
- Kol Tregaskes
A wiki is a website that can be edited by anyone, even you! Here members of Etsy can share their knowledge and suggestions. To edit pages, you'll need to create an account and then sign in. Don't worry if you've never edited a wiki site like this before, you can't mess anything up permanently.

I used to have the hots for Sandra Bullock when I was a teenager, not so much now. Now I haven't a clue, too many to choose from, lol. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
David Boreanaz, Harrison Ford (yes, still!), Nathan Fillion. They'll do for starters!
- WorldofHiglet
Still Kylie. And she so small too, I could keep her in my pocket and my iphone in the other :)
- Thomas Bøhm
Daniel Craig. And Harrison Ford when he was still in his 40's.
- Helen Sventitsky
I wish to be able to see all my favorite celebrities ... I can't choose between them ! it's really hard .
- Viva Vida
I have a huge crush on Steve Carell. I think he's just dorky adorable, and a man that can make me laugh isn't just a desire, it's a requirement.
- Derrick
JA, the 2 Kate's are nice. Cheryl Cole (from Girls Aloud) is probably my current fancy. :-) There's a little bit of grit behind that pretty face.
- Kol Tregaskes
Rochelle, I'm a HUGE Seth Green fan as well. He's so adorable! Also, Bradley Cooper (the eyes!) and I'm currently crushing hard on Zachary Levi. Girl crushes? Eliza Dushku and Jenny Lewis.
- Lis Miller
I really love Laura Dern in David Lynch's Wild at Heart. The leather bikini drives me crazy. Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern play Sailor and Lula, lovers on the run from some dangerous whackos hired by Lula's mother (Diane Ladd) to rub out Sailor. Along the way they come across an even more dangerous whacko named Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe), and in between we are given an overload of...

- Ralph Poole
Dean Cain used to be my favorite. Robin Shou definitely got my heart pumping. I don't think I notice celebs much anymore.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
@Will - I'll take Billie Piper too. Especially with her accent!
- Amani
It changes. For a long time it was Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. But lately I've been noticing that Anne Hathaway is looking pretty good. @Ralph... Wild at Heart: terrific movie. One of the few Nick Cage movies I can bear to watch.
- Jim Hearts FF
I find this really interesting! And I have always wanted to know the causal relationship between happiness and TV watching. I felt whole after the article in the times.

Chris, unfortunately, by not voting for Obama or McCain, it is LIKE you're not voting at all even if you do vote.
- Her Lindsay-ness
Because a vote for anyone other than Obama or McCain is a vote for no one. This isn't a 3 party system. This is a binary system. You can either vote for A or B. A vote for neither is a vote for the winner. Lucky for all of us Obama doesn't need your vote to take Washington. And voting for Ron Paul won't get you anything but an excess of smug.
- Alex Scoble
Obama is an idiot. McCain is also an idiot. Discuss. Either way, Alex, you're voting for an idiot. :)
- l0ckergn0me
I'm with you, Chris. And seriously considering my uncle's job offer in Europe.
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
Europe will be going into a recession too. This will be a global downturn.
- Ralph Poole
Or Baldwin or McKinney or Riva or McEnulty or Weill or Moore or Calero
- Amber, Random Time Lord
This is the one year I've held my nose and voted mainstream. I almost always go third party.
- Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
neither man is an idiot. they are both quite intelligent. unfortunately, mccain tarnished his reputation as he's clearly willing to do anything to win.
- don loeb
Idiots they may be, but they're the only choices we've got if we want our votes to matter at all. And I would rather have the lesser of two idiots in office so I will cast my lot on Nov. 4th for the one I prefer.
- Her Lindsay-ness
Call Obama what you will, but "idiot" is weak.
- jcunwired
You're right in that they both suck. I'm getting a write-in ballot so that I can vote "present." Legitimizing either, even in the slightest way, would require my abandoning too many important principles. This is all about stewardship... what I leave for my kid... what my generation keeps and improves for the next. When the parties nominated these two, it was nothing but FAIL.
- Bob Finch
Because, as a regular third-party voter myself, the third party choices this year range from horrible to the usual gang of idiots to even nuttier than usual.
- Rob H.
Neither is an idiot. Both are tools. I'll throw away my vote to a third party and sleep well for the next four years.
- Mark Jaquith
from twhirl
having to choose a lesser of 2 evils is no choice at all! If neither of the candidates are what you want, why do you have to vote for one of them anyway to spite the other? surely you would vote for who you want. Personally, I would LOVE to see a "no confidence in system of government" box appear on ballots too so they can guage just how many people think government is fundamentally broken!
- alphaxion
Washington Post: The Truth on "Joe the Plumber" "McCain was wrong to state that small businessman "Joe the Plumber" would end up paying a fine if he refused to provide his workers with health insurance. Under the Obama plan, small businesses are specifically exempted from a requirement imposed on large companies that they contribute to a national...
Did you see the surprise John showed when called on this? It looked like he honestly didn't know he'd been talking tripe! Do you think when he dissembles he thinks he's really telling the truth? Does he really not analyze what his wonks feed him? Quite remarkable to lose it like that in the debate - his facial expression of shock and expression "Zero?" didn't appear to be for effect - they looked like he was truly shocked that his "zinger" was not! Those not following on split screen missed a real shocker!
- David HC Soul
That was my favorite moment in the debate, the split screen on CNN had his reaction, and he was honestly scared, like his aides gave him the wrong dealio
- anna sauce
Maybe today, but this is the first day. FriendFeed is very innovative and I think it will improve rapidly. Also there are many more feeds into FF, so you get a richer debate in FF. At least that is what I hope. :)
- Ralph Poole
I use them for different purposes anyway
- Ian May
I think something like this would be great: http://friendfeed.com/search..., but it's bust. Realtime also doesn't work on the public freed right now (which is what Twitter search does, effectively)
- Louis Gray
Bingo! Nice blog post Louis! FF will need to beef up their search to match twitters (summize's) capabilities. Yep, I called the new Real Time feature "NOISE ON STEROIDS" today within minutes of trying it out http://friendfeed.com/e... This noise is difficult to glean from...search will greatly enhance it
- Susan Beebe
good analysis, just added it to our post, not that you need another link given every one of your posts appears on the front page now ;-)
- Duncan Riley
Me. Disagree with Louis ?? Yep. I just 'covered more ground' on FF than previously. Twitter is a completely different product. One stream, less control. Don't think the comparison is valid. Friendfeed's community 'feel', if it can be maintained, is HUGE. The real-stream makes it much easier to get a quick take
- Charlie Anzman
Think of the market like the social media echo chamber: they've been filling themselves with hot air for a long time now and reality is saying hello.
- Michael W. May
from twhirl
We need this because for years and years the government has been propping companies up that should have failed. A severe market correction will sift the weak companies out, they will fail and we will be left with stronger companies. Yes some people will suffer in the short term but we will, as a society, all be stronger in the longterm.
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
The roses will grow back better after pruning. But we are gonna get scratched up.

- Bob Gannon
in the meantime the country/world are in a bloody mess.
- Pete Delucchi
Rochelle, I don't always agree with him, but Mark pretty much said it for me. I think it's a matter of riding out the storm. And frankly, we've got a hell of a ride ahead of us.
- Helen Sventitsky
Every stock market in europe is also dropping. Dosen't look like a correction to me. if it were a correction, we'd have some idea of what we were correcting to. At this point we have no idea what the endgame for this mess is going to be.
- Roberto Bonini
A financial advisor friend of mine told me last year that he doesn't invest in the stock markets because all the valuations are over inflated. I guess he'll be waiting for the dust to settle.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
It's not a correction, it's a Worldwide Panic.

Hi Guys, welcome to the Apps room - this is where (i hope) we can go mad with sharing newly launched desktop & web applications. If you have any suggestions please feel free to share your thoughts.
Thanks for the invite, Zee, liking it round here! I used to visit TechCrunch or the like for a constant stream of new services, but it is now hard to find a constant 'list' of new applications to try, rather than hyperbole. Cheers!

+1 Geoff and thanks Zee for the invite

Hi Zee, Nice Idea, I hope we can see more about Mac apps here,It'll be great.. thanks for invitation buddy, I also invited many of my iranian friends in this room, I wish we can make a good teamwork together and "Apps" becomes an active room soon.
