I couldn't agree more that we are in an avalanche of APIs and aggregation. I also see the growing pains as different apps vie for Twitter's updates; today I got my first 400 error from Twitter (exceeding the 70 authenticated requests per hour) which tribal knowledge suggests may be due to other services accessing my account with the API.
