Two years ago I asked everyone if they thought it was normal to put you on a mailing list if you gave them a business card. Most said yes - I still think NO. I've known Chris for at least that long (worked on Grasshoppers FB and Ning sites) and I'd never put him or anyone else on a mailing list without checking with them first. - randulo

since posts that appear in a list are determined by the owner, when another user reads the list, there is no direct control of the content. it has been recommended by another trusted user, and the same is true for posts shown in friendfeed using friend-of-a-friend - Mike Chelen

But I see that more as a guidance value rather than as counselor and decision maker for users.
