Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’ - http://www.rawstory.com/rs...
"I too liked the book, although I read it a long time ago. I thought it was clever and had a good message at the time I read it, and going back over it I don't find any angle in the book itself that has an anti-LGBT message. That is, unless, the Buggers are the LGBT community." - Randy Hall
Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’ - http://www.rawstory.com/rs...
"The truly dark secret is that the number of gays that were molested or raped as children is very likely not statistically different from straight kids that were molested or raped. <sigh></sigh>" - Randy Hall
Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’ - http://www.rawstory.com/rs...
"Yes, Card, as a producer, almost certainly has "points" in this film, or has a contract that gets him access to pre-profit revenue." - Randy Hall
Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’ - http://www.rawstory.com/rs...
"I think that it's fair to point to his own hypocrisy in his statements. But the problem is one of liberty and minding one's own business; he is entitled to spout his opinion on whether LGBT should be allowed to marry. However, he then goes on to talk about violent revolution if gay marriage becomes the law of the land. They have a word for that kind of rhetoric: sedition. The merits of his claims that gay people want to be straight are half-true, in my opinion. LGBT want to be treated as equal, and for the longest time, in order to be treated as an equal, you had to behave in what I've come to know as "homonormative" ways (i.e. in the closet). So there might be a longing to be accepted, or to "feel normal" about their sexuality, but I doubt that it really manifests as wanting to actually be straight." - Randy Hall

"Wow, I'm not supporter of Card's views on LGBT issues, but you just proved him right about character assassination." - Randy Hall
Re: Top Weiner Aide Trashes Intern Who Wrote Campaign Tell-All - http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2013...
"Why do I get the feeling this was meant to teach the ex-intern how to properly undertake a character assassination?" - Randy Hall

"Yo, it's not the Open The Happy channel, it's Open The Whup-Ass! I found I didn't enjoy IM3 as much as The Avengers. I found it too contrived in much of the same way that Simon noticed." - Randy Hall
Re: Inside NAB 2013: Through the Lens of a Filmmaker/Educator - http://sfdigifilm.com/an-inde...
"JB, I very nearly went to NAB this year. I won't be missing it next year! As an owner of the Sony NEX-FS700, I watched NAB closely with other FS700 owners, and we weren't disappointed. Still not tons of detail on the 4K upgrade for my Sony, but Convergent and their new Odyssey 7Q OLED monitor/recorder looks great and is on my radar for 2013. I'm glad to hear that SFSDF is going to finally cut loose from FCP7 and move to Adobe. I'm betting that the transition will go faster and smoother than you might think. Premiere Pro is straightforward enough (and I use the FCP7 keyboard layout, which you can set in Premiere Pro) and flexible enough that it's likely to become a favorite around there, especially when time comes to work on DSLR footage natively without all the transcode headaches. Nice summary! Cheers!" - Randy Hall
