Now we finally know what Canon got up its sleeves, but I have to say I'm not too surprised or excited about it. I'm not really sure if it'll be a D700 or 5D Mk II for me.

At this point, I know it'll be neither for me... Perhaps I'll buy something next year, but for now, my 1st generation 5D is doing just fine, so I intend to use it well.

As a 40D user wanting to go full frame, I am excited about the release. I won't be an early adopter, but if the first users report positively I'll eventually have one of these.

I'm also using a 40D at the moment, and also craving for FF. I don't have that many lenses, actually just 2, I rent the rest as needed, so I don't lose that much when moving to Nikon. I just feel that Canon only tried to come close to Nikon and not really overtake them again. The only thing I currently see speaking for the 5D is the 1080p movie mode and the 21 MP. I don't need 21 MP nor the movie mode. The D700 on the other hand has full weather sealing and faster fps. I really don't know...

But I already saw some people who thought about buying the 1Ds Mk III now getting in line for the new 5D. I think Canon really has to think about its pricing strategy and updating the 1D line very soon.

Right. Who in their right mind would buy the 1Ds Mark III now that they can get the 5D Mark II for several thousand less? I think what happened here is that Canon's hand was forced by Nikon, and they had to eat into their Pro line features in order to put out the new 5D. Now they're also forced into a faster refresh cycle for their Pro line.
