"He is growing up without a mother's love. But this tiny muntjac fawn appears to have a lucky streak nonetheless. He was born three weeks early after his mother was hit by a car. Vets battled to save her but she died soon afterwards".

Took a minute for the brain to kick in The fawn lived the mother died. No wonder everybody is so happy about this post :D Yea tiny Deer !

"Inktomi, your crawler is repeatedly hitting our servers getting the same WAP files over and over. Please stop pounding us, it's hurting the service we provide to our customers. Thanks. webmaster@userland.com." Awww, can't see how I've been Scobleized :-(

Virtually no results for likely-to-be-spammed terms like levitra or cialis, because those drugs hadn't even been introduced yet. Ah, the good old days. :)

Mark: yeah, the first 1.5 years of my blog disappeared. I've been trying to get them back from Userland, but never get an answer back from them. Oh well.

My first blog, by the way, was in December 15, 2000, right before this snapshot was made.

Louis, you kept that Apple stock from when it was $8/share, right?
- LogEx
Logical: I bought some at $12 (pre-split, so it would be about $6 in today's share price). I thought I was so brilliant when I sold at $22. I learned a good lesson there. Dollar cost average out of stocks that look like winners. Or, take half your winnings and diversify and leave the rest in. If I had done that I'd have had a huge profit.
- Robert Scoble
By the way, I don't play tech stocks anymore, other than Microsoft (I own a few thousand dollars worth of that cause I'm too lazy to sell it).
- Robert Scoble
I don't play individual stocks much either, but do still have some AAPL I bought at a split-adjusted $20... kick myself often for not getting more.

I wonder, from commenters above - how many of you are eat meat, even irregular but eat and enjoy it?
- A.T.
Umm these guys are doing it for food and it will feed lots and lots of people. These are people killing animals to survive, not to profit. For the western world to frown on this is entirely hypercritical, as unpleasant as it may seem. My comments likely to spark a discussion ;)

Toby; what is your idea about whale hunting in Japan. they are also poor? we can find better and more sustainable source of protein. if we kill wild animal for human consumption they will vanish form this world soon .!!!
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
I think these people literally survive on just whales which makes it very different from Japan, who I believe, hunt whales for Scientific purposes! Don't get me started on that! (saw a TV programme about these people and they're pretty boned because of over hunting)
- Toby Graham
Toby, in my mind, I understand people gotta do what they gotta do to stay alive. In my heart, the practice and pics above bother me. I think I'm conflicted, but if you want to say hypercritical, that's cool. @slipol, I don't eat meat.
- Anna Haro
If you don't eat meat you can be conflicted rather than hypercritical :)
- Toby Graham
There are still tribes that basically survive on 1-2 whales per year for the whole community.
- Kevin L
I eat meat, but not whale meat... cows aren't endangered, as far as I know.
- Jemm
I have no problems with eating meat, I just draw the line at meat from animals that reach a certain level of consciousness. Everything else is fair game - and to any veggies that try to "make me see the error of my ways", may I point out the ultimate irony of life is that for it to continue, another must die. And that we are discovering plants to be FAR more alive than we ever gave them credit, just do some research into plant neurobiology and social studies and you'll realise they're on a par with animals.

There's one tribe in Alaska or Canada that has a big ceremony, then they row out in their boat to find a whale, and when they're ready for the kill, they don't pull out a spear but grab a .50 caliber rifle and shoot it. Guess it isn't all that authentic...
