It reads as jealousy. Someone behaving the way she describes has nothing to do with beauty. Besides, all of us are beautiful in some way, so it's sad she categorizes herself as "normal looking." What in the world is that? Ugghhh...this article bugged me.

I was annoyed by this article for all the reasons already stated more eloquently by Anika and Shevonne. In my observation beauty brings with it both benefits and burdens, and can evoke everything from jealousy to stupidity in others. Like many other traits it absolutely has an impact on our relationships and our behavior. Our society has a weird, schizoid relationship with beauty that I've long been fascinated by.

Oh I just watched a TED about the white tiger. A lot of the cubs are killed because they are deformed or unsellable. It's really sad...but these are cool pictures.

There is perhaps no greater attack upon science and rational thought than the doctrine of a recent creation. People do seem to have an almost irrational love for these little things. I have my own theories as to why, which I'll be posting as part of my "World of Netbooks" series of articles soon. Not that I'm trying to be a tease, but I don't have it written yet, and it's too complex to explain in a FF comment. ;-)
