Judy Hamilton This is not Hamilton's first foray into politics. She ran against District 83 Rep. Don Smith in 2008 and lost. She believes this time will be different because Council District 5 represents a smaller area, and she is more familiar with "hometown" issues. One of those issues is older adult care. Baby boomers (generally those born in the 1950s) are part of an aging population, Hamilton said, and there are a lack of accessible services to accommodate them, as evidenced by waiting lists for Meals on Wheels and Best Friend Express for people who use the buses to get to medical appointments. She wants to make sure the youth of this area get a good education because they will be taking care of the aging population. Hamilton, 45, believes that what separates her from several of the other candidates is the fact she is not a business woman. "I'm an employee," she said. "That's what most of Aiken County is. What we will be dealing with affects the working man." She is a licensed medical social worker with Aurora Pavilion.

I know Judy personally and have volunteered along side Judy at several benefit events. I know she cares much for the disabled and elderly in our community and will work hard to help us. I also know she understands what it's like to live on regular working persons paycheck in our area and because I know her to be a real person, a friend, approachable and honestly caring of the working person as well as the disabled and elderly...I know I can trust her.
