@fredjean: Congratulations! Best wishes for a speedy and painless delivery, and good luck being a daddy x2!
@koralesky: Service cancellation fee is normal, extra hardware return fee is unusual. It suggests to me that Google's cost may be >$530.
@koralesky: So, up to $350 to Google *and* $200 to T-Mobile? Smells iffy to me -- that's more than the unsubsidized h/w price.
@koralesky: Does T-Mobile have a cancellation fee on service for the #nexus1? ToS sez Google wants $350 if you cancel within 120 days...
@edavis10: I wrote a fair bit of ruby-ldap and Net::LDAP code back in the day; haven't used it in 6 mo. or so, but I should still grok it.
@axbl: Of course. If cost were no object, I'd just buy a brand-new X301. Sadly, for a personal machine, cost most certainly *is* an issue.
@bleything: I miss the Clover at the Stumptown Annex -- they got rid of it as soon as Starbucks bought the manufacturer.
@tlockney: I figure I'll wait until there's decent Linux support for that new AMD chipset, anyway.
@axbl: I've owned three X40s and loved 'em all. Don't love the slow CPU + integrated GPU + loud/tiny hard drive, though.
Holy fsck! Lenovo may have finally given me a reason to upgrade from my beloved Thinkpad X40: http://shop.lenovo.com/us...
I've finally been introduced to The Mighty Boosh. Now my brain hurts.
@atduskgreg: Fair point. I suppose an Arduino is a good bit cheaper than an Altair..though not so much if you include the attached PC.
@atduskgreg: most Arduino hackers don't actually grok ASM and compiler hacking. Just sayin'...
My New Year's resolution: learn to bake. Made biscuits and pizza so far today; gonna have to ease in to the sweet stuff.

#10yearsago I was just starting my first "grown up" job at a startup in downtown Portland.
I have a 10 lb. prime rib roast and a bottle of the Glenkinchie Distiller's Edition waiting at home for NYE dinner. Is it the weekend yet?
My #code2009 list: Ruby, Python, Javascript, C, PHP, Perl, Bash, Java, SQL (work); Haskell, Clamato (play)
Got the NYT on my Kindle, Bon Iver on the stereo, and a glass of rye at my elbow. I say, let it snow -- I ain't got nowhere to go.
Had a fun and only slightly terrifying bike ride home from work in the snow. I had no traction issues, but can't say the same for the cars.
@bleything: I bought the (overpriced but nice) leather folio cover Amazon sells for mine. Didn't want to crack that nice display.
I m in ur shopping cart layoutz, A/B testing ur convershun ratez.

Logarithmically delicious: asymptotically aproaching perfectly tasty.
Q: flux : vortex :: assless : ??? (A: "chaps")
Mom: nap on the couch; Dad: reading comics; @monkey_herder: coding in the spare room; @Psukkafische: baking. This is a good X-mas afternoon.
What do you mean, Portishead isn't Christmas music?
@ikai: I don't use Windows for anything but but games and testing sites in IE. Trying to use it as a development platform sounds *awful*.
