@Jim_Croft My complaint is bibliographic citations are dumped in dc:relation as strings, rather than parsed into elements (title, vol, etc.)
RT @larsjuhljensen Thinks that Wikipedia editor is making a fool of herself by suggesting DBpedia page for deletion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...
@dimus I wonder whether "experts and laymen" is a little broad. http://stackoverflow.com has a focussed community, and is a huge success
@dimus http://stackoverflow.com also has associated weekly podcast which generates a lot of interest, plus roadshows ("dev days).
@millerhj I guess I was thinking of something more specifically targeted at #twdg09 #gbif #ebio09 audience (users, developers, providers)
@millerhj @dimus What, for instance, is the community targeted by http://biodiversity.stackexchange.com/ ? #tdwg09
@DublinCore dc:relation considered harmful - encourages dumping unstructured text (e.g., citations) that others have to make sense of #fail
Wondering whether biodiversity informatics could use http://stackexchange.com/ to exchange ideas? #tdwg09
@pjd Can't see the link between issues with http://bio2rdf.org and LSID resolver encoding. Do you have example of LSID problem?
@pjd My resolver doesn't try to correct encoding issues with LSID providers. Some #ubio records have incorrect encodings, for example.
@ianmulvany #connotea seems to be being hit by spam, e.g. http://www.connotea.org/tag...
Exhausted. Long week of teaching, following #tdwg09 tweets (sounds like a great meeting), and coding. Looking forward to the weekend...
@chrisfreeland @rogerhyam #bhl pages are a gold mine of biological inf, the metadata about articles is just a way to help findability
@chrisfreeland @rogerhyam Could have page per significant unit (book, journal, article) if only want metadata #bhl
@chrisfreeland @rogerhyam But imagine if we make each page editable (think marking up names, etc.) but avoiding excesses of XML #bhl
@chrisfreeland I was thinking of a page per #bhl page, plus a page for each name (or indeed, any other term). Platform to correct OCR errors
@chrisfreeland Who/what is GPI? #bhl
@chrisfreeland Much as I like Semantic Mediawiki, it may have too much overhead for #bhl (many millions of pages)
@chrisfreeland I'm guessing JSTOR would want to link at article level, Maybe way forward is to make links first then give them to JSTOR #bhl
#bhl needs to be a wiki. There's so much information hiding in the text, crying out out to be mined, marked up, and analysed #tdwg09
@tompasley Thanks for http://supportingcast.mannlib.... hadn't seen it. Will take a look at code for possible ideas re matching titles
@chrisfreeland New TV show idea: Are You Smarter Than a 6th Grader or Rod Page? #tdwg09 The smart money would be on the 6th grader...
@rogerhyam @ELYW Drupal is taking over the world. I guess I will have to embrace it. <- I won't be. If all you have is a hammer... #tdwg09
Anybody looking for a taxonomic literature challenge should look at extracting the wealth of information in http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item... #tdwg09
RT @gnat awesome URL failure: http://twitpic.com/p4p1s <-- LOL

RT @chrisfreeland Thanks for putting slides online http://blog.chrisfreeland.com/2009... coming below 6th graders in a list is high praise indeed ;) #tdwg09
@dremsen @chrisfreeland @anthonygoddard I find it ironic that #ubio can't read the Official Lists of ... names in zool http://iphylo.org/~rpage...
