How someone contacts me shouldn't be based on a service. It should be determined based on commonality of options available and least cost and expediency to delivery.
- Jerry Schuman
Don't direct messages deserve to be one person only?
- Aron Michalski
Email is kinda like the canvas. Its lets people and companies build on top on it. like google does with its spam filters, or labels or just about whatever you can imagine. no one company owns the protocols and they are widely adopted. As you can see with Twitter, as soon as they feel threatened they reduce the ability to share. email is just a protocol.
- Michael Roberts
I've been on his low quality list ever since I was told I was a normal person.

I liked the story of the guy that was laid off but continued to work in different offices around the campus while he worked on launching his new startup.
- Jerry Schuman
I think it's more than just about gaming but the battle for our TV's. Gaming is just one aspect. I bought an Ouya and I wrote about the Android angle on this phenomenon http://krynsky.com/android... In MG's post he also poses that Android / Ouya may be a contender
- Mark Krynsky
It's not as good as the BBC show it's ripped from
- Frank Paynter
Why are you so excited about the hbo go airplay?
- Ludwig Ederle
Microsoft better wise up. The Xbox Kinnect is their hottest brand and if they don't up their game, Apple will shoot'em up

Android 4.2.2 which I got yesterday for my Nexus 4 introduce "Wireless Display" (via Wifi Direct)
- Murray Macdonald
It takes a BIG Netflix to make a House of Cards. Definitely not a startup product.
- Kurtiss Hare
Tablets will drive the TV as a second display. Games will use the TV for the major display and the tablet/phone as the processor / controller.
- Murray Macdonald
Android (through Google TV) already has exposed the Google app marketplace to STB's on our TV's. It's beyond me why Apple hasn't done the same. They're giving Google way too much time to perfect and gain usage there.
- Mark Krynsky
Apple is looking at Google as if it was a monkey that could never put together the gun, and all of a sudden Google is shooting with it...
- Ludwig Ederle
Or even an HBO (much less likely). I don't know if they can singlehandledly change the game they're in as content creators.
- Evan Prodromou
Netflix appears to be doubling down on original content after HoC, for what that's worth.
- Kurtiss Hare
Will Netflix release DVDs? That's an interesting (new) media lockin.
- Kurtiss Hare
Raspberri Pi is nice hardware Murray but not as functional for a TV to have an Android OS device and the Google Play app store at your fingertips.
- Mark Krynsky
MLB has their own branded app for following games, but doesn't include live footage. Instead, it is an animation of the pitches.

Only in the US... Content licensing is per country. I can't watch the majority of these things in Canada let alone the rest of the world...

Actually John McCrae left Tunerfish recently but Comcast is still very active in new technologies

kids watch tv less but also changing their habits - binge watching

I remember when people said real audio was going to take down the internet, and that video streaming wasn't even possible. HD won't be an issue.

The bad news for the producers is, that there are no commercials showing up any more

Just bought 10 gb switches... Network infrastructure is growing.

Google Hangouts + Hangouts on Air... they only need PRIVATE HOA to take over.
- Jerry Schuman
do you like the Citizen EcoDrive @Robert?
- Frank Paynter
At least Scoble is evolving with the market. Apple is asleep at the switch. Their next product is a phablet? Big deal.
- Murray Macdonald
I'm an Apple fanboy but I'm impressed with the Nexus 4, its interface and magnetic charger which just arrived. I have not even installed a SIM card and cellular service yet!
- Alex de Soto
Apple haven't even released the API for good speech synthesis on iOS... Android is outclassing them on most sides, BT low energy being one deficiency.
- Murray Macdonald
Hasn't Apple kind of always delivered on the undelivered dream of yesterday? In a way... How long did we have smart phone browsers before we got one that worked?
- Kurtiss Hare
My Macbook running cooler in the snow.
- clive boulton
there were tablets before, but apple added great design and made a business out of it...
- Ludwig Ederle
I think John said it right before. Its the ebb and flow. Google might be doing well today, tomorrow Apple will come out with something else.

Isn't the question of density also just a question of money?
- Kurtiss Hare
that density will need to be filtered

Apple needs to buy Waze and Tagwhat for their Maps

One point about switching to Android away from iphone. I hear the argument about the investment in apps. If one has an iPad then you don't lose the use of your apps.
- Michael Roberts
apple's secret agenda is to take you where you *should* go, not where you *want* to go?
- Laura Norvig
They're not innovating... They're the new HP.
- Murray Macdonald
Apple has 130 billion cash right now
- Jerry Schuman
That's not true... New Androids have GPUs. Everyone does things in hardware. They abandon their old devices, like PowerPC, and iPhone3, etc... The 3GS will get dropped soon.
- Murray Macdonald
Androids do have GPUs, but Apple's AV chain is good work
- Kevin Marks
Apple also has momentum. Steve is right about services and Keith. As well I think Apple will innovate more on software in the coming months. Its just people have come to expect incredible hardware innovation from Apple, but I agree Apple will optimize more on its software working with its hardware, and sometimes that isn't immediately visible to everyone the way a new hardware product like the iphone might be.
- Michael Roberts
It's the fragmentation of Android hardware. They have various GPUs in different devices. You have to write to the various GPUs.
- Murray Macdonald
Apple has one, Android hundreds, "choice" or "fragmentation"
- Ludwig Ederle
My guess is that the inherent way that Apple controls OS (and perhaps direct sensors) access may limit it to compete with the features other mobile devices will be able to utilize for Robert's "contextual" or quantified self and digital health features that will be coming.
- Mark Krynsky
Maybe it's Kevin Spacey. Maybe he's that good!
- Evan Prodromou
Our contextual data will be lifted from it's current owners by various data mining technologies. It's hard to prove how I know what I know about you.
- Murray Macdonald
IIRC in the original HoC it is a machiovellian character, rather than situation of both parties being in together, although element of that too.
- Hilary Talbot
Jerry: at the Ritz tonight where the sunset is gonna rock!
- Robert Scoble
And thanks to Tina...goodbye all. Have a great weekend.
- Mark Krynsky
Have a great weekend, people of the internet
- Ludwig Ederle
Robert: Good point. Apple is a smart company however. I don't expect them to go into a innovation drought for long, but yes, they have a poor record on social IMHO and they should be get aggressive on contextual now. Waze would have been a good move for them I agree.
- Michael Roberts
Great show Steve, Tina, and the Gillmor Gang. I'm impressed this show continues to retain its quality of discussion and guests.
