How do I make shaded box for a quote? - http://www.bloggingbasics101.com/2007...
A quote box looks like this: Chilihead is smert. And, it's not as hard to do as you might think. You will, however, have to get your hands dirty in your HTML. Wait! Don't leave! You can do this! Deep breaths, people. Stay with me. To make a block - Ricardo Bueno

Walt Mossberg just sat down next to me and says he doesn't get friendfeed. I told him he has to post something to it to get it. He has an account here: http://www.friendfeed.com/wmossbe... Heheh. One person at a time we'll get them onto friendfeed.
Btw..would have to agree. Didn't get it at first...kinda like twitter a year ago. frienddeck is cool to use for it now!! - AlexKaris
Walt, its the future! - Zee.
It's like a lot of things, sometimes you just have to try it to "get it". Kinda like I did when I asked the FF community what they liked about FF. Everyone jumped to share their thoughts. - Ricardo Bueno
I came to FF for the aggregation. Stayed for the conversation. - Nick in Manila
Wierd part is ....if you sit and post like that and watch your screen..its like friendfeed is breathing..lol - AlexKaris
I think the trick is to ask a question. It's one thing to get comments/Likes, but it's a whole different experience to get answers back without having to track @-replies all over the place. - Ken Sheppardson
1 subscribed to and only 6 people subscribed - no wonder he doesn't get it. - Brian Sullivan
Everything is only a step by step process, so it is a journey and in time it will come about. - Raymond Marr aka Knatchwa
Actually he has two accounts. His real account is at http://www.friendfeed.com/wmossbe... - Robert Scoble
As of 4:55 CT Walt had 13 subscribers, lets see where that number goes in the next hour. - John Spyers
Tell him it's Twitter with comments and then some. - Gregg Morris
I've noticed early adopters don't always use "I don't get it" in a pejorative sense. They expect not to get new things at first. - Bruce Lewis
And that one is private -- come on in Walt the water is fine. - Brian Sullivan
Also FB is on the trail creating a similar feed to the status now...so its going to be interesting to see how it shakes out. I think that will be a mistake to FB...it will turn the newsfeed into full blasting noise. - AlexKaris
Hmmm. Sounds like he publishes on dead trees.... - Bryan Vartabedian
Robert - Is there a cure for FriendFeed ugliness? I'd love to use it more, but the gray border drives me nuts. - Jeff Harbert
Pretty amazed that Walt hasn't tried FriendFeed yet. Agree with others, you've gotta post stuff and play with it. - Mark Aitken
Shame that Walt isn't seeing this when Twitter is up. They compliment each other well... - Mark Aitken
I'll give Walt a private demo later. His first question "do you work for friendfeed?" No. I never get financial compensation from the companies I cover or get excited about unless I disclose that. I'm a full time employee of Rackspace. I am not an investor in any company I cover, except I have some Microsoft stock (not much) that I kept from my employment there. - Robert Scoble
where is that friendfeed.py script for the next TWIT? - andy halvorsen
Why is his feed private??? Should i request a subscription?? - Roberto Bonini
Hope you kept Walt away from http://friendfeed.com/scoblei... for the moment :-) Would be like stepping out in front of a fast train. - Mark Aitken
think it's probably harder to get now vs early on since some useful functionality is now mia - mike "glemak" dunn
dude, I think you broke the first account. - metalerik
Who is Walt Mossberg ? aaahhh ok >> http://friendfeed.com/waltmos... , now I know him . Cheers Walt !! LOL - Rocky
Walt needs to start sharing his feed (for starters). He's a tease! - Kelli Schmith from fftogo
Seriously. - Steve Lynch from twhirl
I think Walt is to blame for the crash of FriendFeed - John Spyers
His account is not new. I've seen it listed before. Besides, it's private. Meh. Nothing to see here. Move along. - Rolf Schewe
Just subscribed to his feed. - David Damore
I hope this doesn't sound cruel but since his feed is private - I have no interest in requesting the feed. The first lesson about FF is sharing; On FF we share. - LPH™ and his dog P™
L, completely agree! I can't tell if I want to receive your feed if I don't know what it is! - CAJ, somewhere else
No problem except he has a private feed - what good is a private feed if the rest of us want to know what he is finding out regarding new technology. Tell him to unlock his feed, please :-) - Vicki Z Lauter
@All talking about Walt's feed being locked - just send him a subscribe request. If he sees enough of those in his Inbox then he will see that there is an audience here that is interested in what he has to say. :) - Andy Bold
I guess he was here for the aggregation, not the conversation. Wish I could think of another -tion word. - CAJ, somewhere else
@Alan Jackson: Maybe he was looking for one of these words... > Ending with Tion? http://wiki.answers.com/Q... - David Damore
@David, Ha! Must have been his frustration at not understanding the attraction of...okay, I can't manage to pull it off. Where's Alex Scoble to save me? - CAJ, somewhere else
@Alan Jackson: +2 for you ;) - David Damore
Also suggest he approve the folks that have requested feed access. - David Damore
I subscribed... Let's see what happens. - Herb Hernandez
this brings up something I been wondering about.. what is the point of having a private feed? isnt the point of friendfeed for people to read your feed? - David Gross from twhirl
@David Gross: perhaps it is a way for people to overcome any fears they have about "online" content distribution. It's a way for these folks to 'test the waters' so to speak. Thoughts? - David Damore
My new startup focus, customized software for Robert. Best advertising EVER! - Mark Essel
David D, technically you're correct. It just seems odd to me to come to a social site and not share. Admittedly, I only came to FF after the Beta started but I've loaded every single account from the infosphere not just for my ease of use but to share with other folks. Possibly people are wondering how many feeds he's subscribed to since all that information is hidden. - CAJ, somewhere else

I'm looking for some insight... For the avid FriendFeed users out there, why do you like FF so much? What features do you like best about it?
The search. Best in the business. - Robert Scoble
It is definitely less noisy - Eran Even-Kesef
Sorting, consolidation, Scoble... - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Conversation, real-time, aggregation - Kevin Kuphal
Interesting people, threaded discussion, ability to filter noise, search capability. - Jeff P. Henderson
It feels more like being in conversation with people, while at the same time dipping your toe into a stream of observations/finds. Best of both worlds. - Ruud van Wijngaarden
conversations are far better on FF. the real time application of it is far better than anything else. unfortunately not a whole lot of people I know use it that much. - Brad Coy
It's everything together. All the feeds from everybody & everyone else. That if you 'like' something, your friends are gonna see it too. That you can react via mail. That it's real-time. That it is sort of blogging oldskool in a totally new jacket (dutch expression). I like the conversation, the ease to take part in it. Well, it's the total picture, it's everything, it's the most complete service I know of... - Ton Zijp
Ream time conversation is pretty awesome!! just watch this growing :) - Ahmed Mubbashir Khan
Thank you for the insight everyone! Much appreciated... - Ricardo Bueno
The UI, neatly done and powerful without being intrusive. - Amit Nangare
It's an online party. You get to mix and mingle with lots of people based on interests. - Bruce Lewis
You can mark posts with 'Like' that lets your friends see it without cluttering the stream with reposting. On top of that, since searches can include how many "likes" a post has, you can see what others find most worthwhile/fun/etc. - Jim Espinoza
It just occurred to me after reading Jim's comment that 'Liking' something and what FF does with it is so much more appealing than popular items on Twitter. With FF, the more popular something is, the more it gets pushed to the top. On Twitter, the more popular something is, the more noise is made via retweets and hashtags. - Brad Coy
Conversation. - Steven Perez
Constantly providing new and interesting discussions and items. If it wasn't so fluid, it would be WAY less interesting. - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
The variety of topics discussed, the information and opinions about these different topics, and just goofing around. - LPH™ and his dog P™

The power of a thank you: a United Airlines employee personally thanked me and another guy I was sitting next to for being loyal customers. We both looked at each other in amazement. Gives me some ideas for my own career. I don't say thank you enough.
Saying thank you and being polite should be a universal behaviour, not just a Canadian behaviour. ;) - Chris Luckhardt
Thank you. - Michael McKean
Thank me very much. ;) - Craig Eddy
I agree. A simple thank you or expression of appreciation goes a long way. - Trish R
Thank you!! - Roberto Bonini
Robert, thank you for that free consulting the other day. I've already implemented some of it. - Bruce Lewis from fftogo
Sincere thanks shows empathy and respect. Even thanks by protocol (less sincere) _can_ be good, and potentially leads to the real thing - even better. Great thought to share, Robert. - Micah Wittman
Did the United Airlines employee thank you for your friendfeeds? - Charbax
Starting at home, too. Maryam does a lot for me and I don't say thank you enough to her. - Robert Scoble
It's too easy to take things for granted. - Michael McKean
Apology accepted - Dave Hodson
Robert, thank you for improving yourself by thanking others more often. ;) - Chris, Taskerrific Guy
Saying "please" and "thank you" is always welcome, thanks, Robert. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
A great reminder. Another thing I'm learning is to be more gracious when others say 'thank you' and to say 'you're welcome.' Often, I say 'no problem,' which is kind of self-diminishing and also doesn't convey that they are worth doing a favor for. I don't know if this makes any sense, but I'm trying to train myself. - joey
One airline used to say "Welcome Mr. xyz as soon as you were on your first class seat and asked what you wanted for a drink ... they have the list of passengers with the frequent flier level. Basic customer service. - Julio F ~ @SocialJulio
I worked for some folks as a horseback trail guide when I was a kid. Everyday, no matter what, they thanks me for coming in and doing my job. Taught me the power of a thank you from a group that normally takes you for granted (your employer) - the same holds true for thanking customers. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Julio: I have flown 300,000+ miles and hearing thank you is a rare enough occurence that it is notable when it happens. - Robert Scoble
Wouldn't it be great if @ev said thanks to some of the early adopters who tirelessly promoted Twitter? It struck me when he tweeted from the Time awards dinner thanking his employees. He doesn't get how hard we work, for free, to make him successful. - Dave Winer
@Dave - do you want some stock or something? If you feel like you need to be recognized and aren't, use another service - Dave Hodson
"Thank you" is something you don't notice unless it's missing. My previous job I got very few "thank yous" from the management, it was a little upsetting. I still did the work of course but it would have been very nice if people simply replied to mails, for example, with a thank you. It seemed there that that was wasting an email. No it's not! :-( - Kol Tregaskes
What does being a "loyal customer" mean? I have loyalty to ideals, to my country, to my family ... not so much to companies. There are exceptions, but I don't think any airline would apply ... - John Koetsier
John: I did 120,000 miles with United last year. That is loyalty. - Robert Scoble
I had a patient carry business type cards with a lovely verse about how little the world recognizes good service, kind nature and such. I truly was taken for a pause when she gave me one. - Janet
Janet, that is a fantastic idea. - joey
Just give thanks that you actually have a career as many do not right now in this country. - Steve
One of my friends trains dentists and their staffs how to boom their new patient numbers through word-of-mouth referrals without ever saying the "r-word". It's basically done through very well-worded thank you messages. Extremely powerful and the staff absolutely love doing it. - Hans Eisenman
I agree and the power simple gestures have always amazes me. - Craig Mische
You are welcome Robert, LMAO - John (ColderICE)
Funny. My boss's birthday was today. We have to give words of wisdom on our birthday's at work. He told us a story about the importance of thanking and acknowledging. - amarquart
I think it is easy to forget the times we get good service, because the bad service sticks out so much more. But it is a worthy note to take, pay it forward. - Patrick Boegel
Steve: I'm always thankful for that. Not to mention that about half the world's people live on $2 a day. I thank my dad for being the first to go to college in our family, get a PHD, and moving me to Silicon Valley. Of course if we had stayed in Jersey maybe I would be working with Gary Vaynerchuk now. That would be fun too! - Robert Scoble
Awesome! Amazing how something so small can be so big - Andy A.
Amazing how a simple "Thank You" goes a very long way.. - Ricardo Bueno
Look at all of the positive press UA is getting from this and it didn't cost them a cent! Just good policy and good employees. - Jeff P. Henderson
When said honestly and properly, thank you can be very powerful. We all should use it more. - arik
Thank you. - Jack Humphrey
I like to ask speak to the manager of anyone who has been very helpful to me so that I can request that it be noted how great he or she was. - metalerik
metalerik, that's great. - Bruce Lewis
I had a very positive experience the other day after being delayed for five hours and being stranded overnight in Denver (United put me up for the night). About 20 minutes after landing at SFO, I got an apology email with a $250 credit for future travel. http://bit.ly/AMEH4 - Rocky
Robert, thank you. - Michael Forian
