Tom Gilb in an excellent paper on Principles of Clear Thinking said 'Assume that information from other people is unreliable, slanted, incomplete, risky – and needs checking' but asking challenging questions often gets you into trouble

Google sites looks quite interesting as a simpler, easier to set up intranet/collaboration space (compared to Sharepoint). Planning to trial on a small scale project. We will see.

Report on the failure of the Heyday project at Age Concern. It observes: "£6.7 million had been spent on the IT system commissioned from IBM. The system proved to have been over-specified for the numbers actually achieved and had experienced some problems in its operation, particularly around the time of launch. It was therefore abandoned, with the costs being written off." Without knowing more about the background, one cannot comment on where the blame lies for this 'failure' but this is not the first project where a charity has gone to one of the large IT companies, spent a lot of money and ended up with system which has not delivered the anticipated benefits

Looks like a very interesting approach to time management and planning. Unlike some other techniques (eg GTD) it appears to include techniques for short term planning (ie: what can I get done in the next few days) which is particular weakness of mine
