Kwippy, Propeller, and Social Median should be added to the list, but Great job Chris!
- Richard Kannegieser
There are 10,974,601 apps I could add. That's where YOU come in. : )
- Chris Brogan
Thanks for the great list. I think I'll use about 3 of them.
- Ricardo Rabago
Agree on Diigo. Great site, we use it to share info across management team.
- Mike Troiano
Hi Chris, thanks for this aggregation, useful. But, what about adding an emerging category named Social Search? Xoost would fit into it. cheers, Felix
- Xoost.com
Thanks, great list, but I wonder should Posterous be in microblogging category? It's more like usual blogging service... And +1 for Diigo =)
- Anton
perhaps instapaper, alexa, sitemeter, picasa, rssmeme ?
- Hayk H.
And new ones are coming every day. That is why at mixin.com we are not trying to compete with any of them but integrate them. Because once you found something to do or you have a proposition to make, you need to discuss with your friends whatever social network they belong. And this discussion begins before the event, during the event and can continue after the event with the addition of pictures and videos from these services like Flickr, Picasa, Youtube, Qik.

I'm renting more movies on iTunes because it's so easy, and I take them anywhere I want with my iPod, Next I can plug my iPod into my TV to watch --game changer, no more netflix.blockbuster
I don't have AppleTV so I can't comment. Martin, I'm getting the componet cables to plug into my LCD screen soon, they arrive next week, I'll test and update this comment
- Jeremiah Owyang
I have been doing this for a year w/my iPhone and Apple TV.
- Steve Rubel
Apple TV rocks, but they need more rentable content.

I'm about to start rolling up my sleeves on researching the ideal Movie setup for my home. I figure dwlding from Netflix and watching through my TV will be part of the goal, not an either/or re AppleTV. Keep us updated on the iPod-to-TV resolution!
- Marko Bon
You think it's bad there, try using it in the UK! *sigh*
- dkb
Very strange that I can rent TV shows on iTunes and they sync to my 3G ipod, but when I rent a movie, it does not!
- Rich Casey
I liked it too, except for the fact that now the list of tags that appear while you're typing don't automatically remove the ones you already put there, which is kinda annoying. But it does look better though.
- Leonardo Souza
It is a much cleaner look... I like it!
- Rich Casey
When I did product marketing for BEA's enterprise 2.0 suite, I refused to use that word in any decks or papers. Great term to describe tagging in conceptual terms, hard to understand in a corporate environment.
- Hutch Carpenter
You still hear it among those who MAKE websites and web apps, because as Hutch says it's useful in describing top-down (taxonomy) vs user-driven classification, and navigation, of content.
- Ian Wilker
from twhirl
@Ian: True, but in most of the cases it just means: tags instead of taxonomy. The folksy thing doesn't stand in the foreground very often.
- Benedikt Koehler
My mom used the work folksonomies. That's when I knew it was over.
- Jered Benoit
unfortunately wikipedia not states it is the opposite of what is was coined to mean, it is a subset of tagging. Tagging has been around nearly 20 years or more, but it has not really worked well until people started doing for themself and their ID was tied to it. I hear it all the time, often correctly used, but that is not surprising.
- Thomas Vander Wal
Hutch, it is good you did not use folksonomy related to BEA tagging as it is tagging not folksonomy. The BEA tagging tool really needs a lot of work.
- Thomas Vander Wal
I actually said it Monday to a large corporation I was presenting to ... just so happened to be in the powerpoint on the slide with the definition of social bookmarking...
- David Weiner
Since folksonomies are part of social bookmarking, and we're now all aggregating, sharing, retweeting, clipping and "joining the conversation", the folksonomy probably is on its way out, indeed.
- Nils Geylen
Btw, was that a tag cloud that just obscured my vision?
- Nils Geylen
I used it in a meeting to explain how tagging works in del.icio.us. I actually think it's very descriptive!
