When I did product marketing for BEA's enterprise 2.0 suite, I refused to use that word in any decks or papers. Great term to describe tagging in conceptual terms, hard to understand in a corporate environment. - Hutch Carpenter

unfortunately wikipedia not states it is the opposite of what is was coined to mean, it is a subset of tagging. Tagging has been around nearly 20 years or more, but it has not really worked well until people started doing for themself and their ID was tied to it.
