I'm sorry but this is unbelievable:) I'll give credit to the artist upon more convincing proof! The photogenic look of the tiger and lion really helps the artist's case though:)

I'm with Roney... I find this hard to believe... or maybe I'm just jealous that I can't even get stick people right!
- Jasmin Smith
I'm really happy everyone liked these. They're my most liked entry to date, Thanks! There also seems to be some question about whether these are actually Pencil Drawings.I can assure you that they are. When I get home, I should have the links. I have more drawings, too.

Thanks Enrique, I'll post some more soon. They are a little more obvious than these ones. As Luke points out; without being able to look closely it's impossible to tell. He's right; but up close it's more obvious. I'll upload the originals to Picasa later, and then you'll be able to zoom in with any photo viewer and see for yourselves. I can't believe how many people liked these. A few people have reposted them already. Thanks!
- Michael Fidler
Absolutely awesome, Michael. You are extremely talented. Everyone should repost these pix and help to make you famous. You should be doing this full time - you obviously have some passion for this. Bravo.
- Chris Loft
These are really beautiful, Michael. Do you sell them?
- Shannon Jiménez
Chris, I would love to say they're mine, but it's not true. I've had them for a while, but I'll find the artists names. It will just require a little backtracking. Besides, they deserve the credit; all I did was find them:-)
- Michael Fidler
Cut the bullshit! :) Photos are very good.
- Burçak Çubukçu
I draw alot in pencil, but they are amazing, the best for me is the girl, that is the most photo-like one. :o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
I agree Rob, the girl is amazing. My favorite by far! Wait until you see it close up! It's really had to tell, even up close!
- Michael Fidler
Burçak Çubukçu If these were photographs, they would be very good. As Pencil Drawings,(which they are), they're amazing.
- Michael Fidler
@Burçak Çubukçu I can't tell if your serious now or just kidding around. I hope your just having fun! If you are serious, I've never given you a reason to question my integrity, nor do I ever intend to. However, the second set is up now, so judge them for yourself, but don't judge me! http://ff.im/1BJh5 BTW, I messed up and reposted the shot of the women again. Oh well. Hope you like them:-)

@Michael: try deviantART, not Picasa, to submit your artworks
- LouCypher
LouCypher, I know it well, but I don't see why I would want to do that. I hope everyone knows by now that they're not mine? I'm sorry, but I can't say it any clearer than that.
- Michael Fidler
nah, i don't believe it is done in pencil. i am sure it is photoshopped :)

I'm finding this both interesting and humorous at the same time. There's a separate message board where this post is being discussed and it has another forty comments on it already. Kol, I can't thank you enough! Kol found another post which helps to prove that these are done in pencil. I had my doubts about a few of them because I collected them from several different sites over time, but the site Kol found has done a great job pulling together an impressive collection of these drawings and more. Take a look - http://www.flickzzz.com/2009...

Actually there are more than what this site shows. There's an entire set with the cats(little cats), which I have, and there's a new portrait set.

Found your post here, Michael. :-) I tried my best to find the artists.
- Kol Tregaskes
Amazing and very very very good.... Very impressive ...
- Linda Zeek-Bobinski
Yeah we know, thanks though, James. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Excellent pictures - how long did it take you to scan the photographs into Photoshop and then edit them? The only pencil that has come into contact with these "drawings" is the Photoshop pencil. A tip - stop trying to fool people into thinking you are a "real" artist, because all you are doing is cheapening proper artist's works whom have spent hours creating real pictures as opposed to a few minutes on a graphics editing package.
- The Wimp
A bell does ring here. And I am remembering why I was so attracted to the tiger...and the lion for that matter. These are exact replicas of prints I had in our bedroom when I lived in Dallas. I had bought the prints (in color) at a department store,

Actually, I have learned quite a bit about these drawing since I made this post. Not only have I discovered all of the artists, but I've learned more about how they are created. They are always copied from a photograph or painting, but usually a photograph. It is extremely time consuming and detail orientated work. There are many other artists besides the ones featured here who practice...

Erik, thank you for bringing this up again, but I think I already mentioned something about this in my prior comment. I'm amazed that people are still posting these photographs of animals and calling them pencil drawings. This is at least the third case I can remember (and there are probably more) of this happening. The myth about them being drawings was debunked long ago. It's also funny that whenever they get posted the person posting them doesn't make it clear that they aren't the artist, exactly as you have done.
- canadianmaple09
@canadianmaple09 I posted these back in March, 2009 when I was beginning to use FF regularly. I ran them through TinEye hoping to find their source, but it returned no results. When I ran through again yesterday, TinEye returned over four pages of results. If I had it to do over again, would I? Yes
- Michael Fidler
The people you refer do don't join "just to slam" someone, they are concerned members of the online art community that want to see real art appreciated and fake art or photos being passed off as drawings revealed for what they really are. Artists such as Brian Duey, Armin Mersmann, Paul Lung, Zindy Nielsen, and many others do not receive the appreciation they deserve because of scams like this.
- canadianmaple09
canadianmaple09, the worthiness of your motives notwithstanding (and they are worthy, definitely) you could definitely have approached Michael completely differently by say, giving him the benefit of the doubt rather than attacking in a highly accusatory tone.
- Chieze Okoye
When you've seen these same pictures posted multiple times by people that just find them on the internet and claim they are pencil drawings, when it has already been established on multiple occasions that they are not, the "benefit of the doubt" approach seems a little too generous. People post these images and claim they're drawings to get views for their own site or blog or page or whatever it is they post it on. It's wrong and it needs to be stopped.
- canadianmaple09
I can understand that, but you should also keep in mind that everyone is not as well-versed in the issue as you are. All I'm saying is that you would probably be more effective in this case if you weren't setting this up as a us-vs.-them, "must destroy with the validity my argument!" attitude when talking to a guy who's been actively having a discussion on the issue in what seems to me (having been around when he first posted the images and the follow up thread and what not) to be good faith.
- Chieze Okoye
Look at his first comment here. People clearly thought he drew them. He doesn't set the record straight. He also claims that they "are actually pencil drawings" and that "I have more drawings too." Later he claims that you need to look at them closer to see they are drawings and that he will "post the originals". Once again, this makes it sound like they are his. This follows the same...

- Michael Fidler
I would probably qualify as an image analysis expert, but there's no way to prove that online. One thing we can do is look at color. Even though the images are black and white, they're actually RGB images, meaning they contain cyan magenta and yellow. If you look at the image of the rhino you have posted then look at the photo of the rhino at the photographer's site you can see they both...

My friends have always done this to me. Case in point: Friendster. I was an early user of the site, tried to get my friends to use. Nothing. 3 years later, they (and my husband) were all using and acting like they found something. Just a few weeks ago a few friends asked me if I had heard of Flickr (glares at my nearly 13K photos). Uh. Nope.

"In a phone interview last Thursday, I brought up "Still Alive" and asked Coulton whether he'd be interested in doing a follow-up. "I will be doing music for Portal 2 as well, yeah. You know, I think Valve and I were both really happy with how 'Still Alive' turned out, and it was an overwhelmingly popular response to something we thought was maybe gonna be a bit weird and unusual," he explained. "We weren't sure how it was gonna go. And so it's gonna be hard to live up to that success, and it was sort of a surprise to everyone, us included, so ... I don't know, we'll see. The sequel is always a troublesome thing, and sequels are rarely better than the original. Empire Strikes Back is the only exception that I can think of.""

HDSLRs are all the rage right now, offering unprecedented imaging at an amazing price point, but if there's an achilles' heel, it's usually mentioned as "aliasing." So -- aliasing – we keep talking about it, but what is it? And how will it affect you? Aliasing, by way of a definition, is when a sampling system fails to accurately reproduce what it's attempting to sample. Instead of an accurate representation of what you're trying to capture, you get an inaccurate “alias” of it. Aliasing happens in audio recording, in motion, and in still frames; basically, it can happen in any sampling system. Aliasing happens when inaccurate or “false data” gets through and is captured by the system as if it was actually accurate information.

- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
Dammit, my character is 2 levels shy of getting bonuses. I wonder how long it would take me to load up ME1 and get those levels...I can't remember how hard leveling was.
- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
Not worth it. The higher levels take a LONG time. There's an achievement in ME1 for getting to a 60-level character; I got to level 54 or 55 on my first playthrough, and then did a second playthrough to get to 60 (thinking I'd only have to play a few missions to get up there), and it literally took most of the game to get up to 60.
- Jandy
I'm pretty sure I lost a save, I think this is my second play through (and early) and my character is 48. Frustrating and lame!
- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
It's extremely unreliable now. It seems to be something localized, if not just me. :P Everything else works fine though, including other Google services. It's just google.com itself that seems to have an issue. Very odd.

I completely understand them not releasing it in 3D on DVD yet sinc the min technology would make it look awful, but they said there will be no bonus feature, which was done in an attempt to give the best picture and audio quality....PUT IN A SECOND FUCKING DISC FOR THE FEATURES YOU DOUCHEBAGS

Joe, you act like companies only have one DVD release for popular things and not 47.
- The Amber
Wait, so you're angry because they're releasing a bare-bones disc instead of a special edition for a movie you hate? Were you planning to buy a tricked out edition of it?
- Jandy
No, what makes me mad is the bullshit they are spewing. Amber hit it on the head. They aren't leaving the extras out because of video quality, they are leaving the extras out so they can trickle out bonus editions later. Avatar doesn't need any more money, and the idiots will buy buy buy it.
- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
No, I get that. Idiots will buy all sorts of things though. I'm not going to buy it, so I don't really care if they decide to release it only UMD first.
- Jandy
For the record, I never called anyone an idiot. Well I have called people idiots to their face, but not using the word here.

The November release will have the extras.

RAW. If you don't get the exposure exactly right you have much more wiggle room to bring back the details lost in the highlights/shadows. Also in RAW you can change the white balance later, this is very helpful when shooting indoors and in dark places with strange lighting conditions
- Benjamin Golub
Also, I get much better white balance adjustment results with raw files. They are big but worth it.

If you don't plan on editing most photos then stick to JPG. You won't gain anything exporting straight from RAW to JPG. It actually could look worse because most cameras apply some sharpening to JPGs by default

Heh. Got distracted by Mass Effect 2 for the last, oh, NINE HOURS. Made myself stop to watch last night's figure skating finals and try to get this website finished for a friend. But damn. It's still so good. *hugs Xbox*
I finished it, started another game, but then got distracted by Heavy Rain. Now I've finished that, but started it again as well. I have so many other unfinished games it's not even funny. I'm always bouncing all over the place.

Yep! They delivered it today. It's actually a new one, which is even awesomer. And donato, yep, I have a whole pile of unfinished games sitting by my console. I did recently cancel my rental subscription, though, so I'll have more incentive to go back and spend some time on them now.
- Jandy
I usually obsessively have to finish every game I start, and can get totally sucked in playing for hours and hours (and days) at a time. However, on the other hand, I can also get very easily distracted. I'm like that with a lot of things, actually. :P
- donato
A new console! Does it still have all the DLC and everything?
- Lis
Yeah - I kept my same hard drive. I may have to do some stuff to fix the licenses so I can use the DLC without being connected to Xbox Live, but I'm not sure - everything seemed intact when I turned it on. But I haven't tried it without being online.
- Jandy
Yep, you do have to do some voodoo to use your DLC without live. Unless they've changed it recently you have to delete some file which is basically your machine permission and then go in one by one and "re-download" them. I think the download is instant though since you already have em downloaded. They just update the license. ...if any of that makes sense.
- Joe "Brrzzzzzzt" Pierce
Yeah, they sent a sheet with instructions for how to do that. The menus are different than they were when they wrote the instructions, though. :p Took me a minute to find the download history, and then I decided I would rather play Mass Effect 2 that worry about all my DLC right now. I figure it's there, I can go through the redownloading some other time. I'm hardly ever not connected to Live anyway. Still, would be good to have everything set in case the internet breaks sometime or something.
- Jandy
Guess who didn't re-download his Live content before moving and being without Net on his X-Box for a long long Long time.

I've only had one Valentine's Day when I wasn't single, either. We'd only been going out for a few weeks and he got me balloons. It was sweet but being in a relationship didn't make the day OMG SO AWESOME. Then again, I wasn't totally into him.

In common situations, 'dickass' often suffices. Otherwise, I like to make complex simple profanities. For example, instead of calling someone a 'shitlick', I'll call them a 'licker of shit' and may even go so far as to clarify: 'In the presence of feces, you are more likely than not to lick them.'

When in the company of more than one person, I was generally very quiet, and speaking to a group of even two or three friends was a difficult thing for me to do. But I overcame this painful shyness – not necessarily very consciously, but now that I look back over the past decade or so, I can see that certain things I did having really made a difference."

"Someone I respect a great deal once told me that ‘shyness is pride.’ What he meant was that shy people spend too much time worrying about themselves and how they look in the eyes of other people" <-- I don't think that is necessarily true. I don't really care how other people see me so much as I don't want to be a burden or bother. I don't read social cues easily (could be I'm somewhat autistic? Or it's to do with how I was raised), if at all, so I don't really have any feedback about a social situation.

I am trying to put myself out there more, though. I think practice + small steps, is good advice, if it's just shyness and not social phobia. :)

As someone with a psych background, I think this article is right on...

Surely the woman pictured above hasn't been shy since puberty.

It sure would be nice if it could be explained and solved in a few short paragraphs, but it just doesn't work that way. I've tried many different things over the years and nothing has really worked. In fact, I seem to just get worse over all.
