You raise a good point - although Palin seems well-positioned to drive turnout for McCain amongst groups that were otherwise soft on McCain, she could also bring on a backlash. McCain may have been a maverick at one point, but the Palin pick reinforces the idea that he's simply more of the same batshit insanity. The big question (which neither of us can answer) is is this purely a "cosmopolitan" problem or will exurbans feel the same way. - Justin Edelson
