"Lionsgate has debuted the trailer for Lee Daniels' Precious (on Oprah.com today), the Sundance sensation that is bound to gain even more acclaim in the next few weeks at Cannes. This is one of the most emotionally draining films I've ever seen, but it is a tremendous work of art and definitely worth seeing. This trailer is actually one of the best trailers for an indie film I've ever seen, it does such an exceptional job of showing only enough, but not too much, in order to get audiences in theaters. Precious stars Mo'Nique, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, and one of the most amazing first-time lead actresses you'll ever see, Gabby Sidibe."

I don't curse often, but this is a damn good trailer.
- Amani
Saw this at Sundance. Amazing film - a must see.
- Miriam
Miriam - how can I go to Sundance and see all the cool films? :)
- Amani
Is this based on the novel, PUSH, by Sapphire?!? Dude...
- nakachi
Just opened the link. It is based on PUSH! This is an amazing story. I highly, highly, highly recommend this book. I could pee myself, I'm so excited that it's a movie.
- nakachi
Yes, the movie comes out November 6, 2009 (unless they move it up). I guess I could read the book before the movie. I hear the movie is on fire. You can't even recognize Mariah in the trailer at first.
- Amani
The trailer is a wow. I don't know if I could sit through the whole film. Is there such a thing as too real?
- robert holiday
Wow, that trailer made me cry. I'll have to get that book and then see this.
- joey
That was amazing. Thanks for posting this. Definitely looking forward to it.
- Tsega Dinka
I have heard the trailer doesn't even scratch the surface of the movie (meaning it gets better)
- Amani
Actually, I think the lead character is extraordinarily beautiful so exactly who's message is ringing in your ears, Lindsey?
- nakachi
Liindsey: i think if you read the book you may understand why paula patton was cast....but as Nakachi says, what message are you picking up vs what message they're putting out.
- Liz
And maybe you shouldn't have said "ug mugs".
- nakachi
Wow that trailer had me teared up but good. I will watch the film. At home. When the kids are asleep and I can bawl in peace.
- WorldofHiglet
That's fine if you want your options that way. I just think it's crappy to take away the option for those of us that want to see all @replies.
- Miriam
Actually, I agree. There is about a third of the time that I don't want this to be the case and its usually with certain people. When I thought about it this morning those moments popped into mind. Its rather annoying that they took away functionality.

Wish they would have separated the Subscriptions & Rooms categories. Though I need to do some more exploring to figure out how to customize it.

I like the desk, it's pretty sweet...I just noticed that the colours of the labels work well with most, if not all, of the themes. sweeeet

Uh, you got some email there in your inbox. Like 875 of 'em.
- Josh Haley
Those are just the unread ones Josh -- there are about 3000 total. In other news, if I haven't replied to your email yet, sorry about that, I'm a little behind...
- Paul Buchheit
Half Dome, I go there tomorrow - I can send a post card to add to your Inbox if you'd like ;)

You gotta love gmail, I run my entire business through one gmail account, crazy -- I can't tell you how good it is to NOT use Outlook any more.
- Kelly Johns
Is there someone using Outlook still? Who? Who! ; )

"Did you know that teams win more often when they score 13 points than when they score 14?" This one's for my fellow numerati out there. An absolutely facinating article on the probability distribution of NFL game scores.
- Kevin D. White
Certainly less frustrating than a 13-13 tie. Damn Eagles.
- Miriam
Since you've listed favorites of mine, I'll add "The Contender". And- best political move line is from Strangelove: "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room. "
- Donna Mugavero
Election. Reese Witherspoon has scared me ever since.
- Derek Coward
MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON, BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, and CONTROL ROOM.
- Steven Perez
Election is damn good. But can I say Absolute Power?
- Bryan R. Adams
I went to see Primary Colors having read the book and really didn't enjoy it. Very unimpressed as I remember. Maybe I just don't like Travolta :).
- mattpovey
Does "All the President's Men" count? Loved the representation of the Newsroom in particular.
- mattpovey
"The Fog of War," documentary about Robert Mcnamara
- Ben Austwick
Another vote for Fog of War actually. An amazing film.
- mattpovey
I Am Legend. I didn't mind the movie, but the book was much better as is.
- Bonnie Dean
Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Enigma . Hunt for Red October. Patriot Games.
- Roberto Bonini
fight club was an incredible, incredible book- the movie wasn't bad, but it didn't live up to the book.
- Chris Hollander
Disagree with the comment about Hunt for Red October. IMHO, that's the best adapted Tom Clancy novel. All the other ones that went to the big screen have been progressively worse. Sum of All Fears: Now that was a bad adaptation.
- Great Scott!
I haven't watched the movie, but I heard they totally butchered The Golden Compass.
- Victor Ganata
Eragon - moderately good book, unwatchable movie. (@Victor - Golden Compass was similar in that regard, though it was at least gorgeous.)
- Jennifer Dittrich
Some people will probably say Dune...but I actually thought the movie version (particularly the extended version) was better and more dramatic. "FATHER! The sleeper has AWAKENED!" Totally agree with Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and Sum of All Fears (although Sum was as bad as Clear and Present Danger...they wrote out the whole part of the PAVE LOW helicopter going into the compound with gatling miniguns ablazing!)

Flowers in the Attick, Intensity and Hideaway by Dean Koontz, Single White Female, Less Than Zero.

Jurassic Park. I didn't think the movie was bad when I watched it (before I read the book), but after reading the book, I can't go back to the movie.
- Brian Chang
The Fugitive, Crimson Tide, and Hunt for the Red October. I adore all three of those movies and I can always watch them no matter when I happen to come across them.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Star Wars 4-6: even though i own the damn things, i still watch. The Last Starfighter: is a must see any time. Shawshank Redemption: espcially the last 40 minutes or so.

I've seen A&E Pride & Prejudice episodes randomly on KQED/PBS stations sadly more times than I can count
- anna sauce
Unaccompanied Minors <blush> , Point Break, The Birdcage (horrible remake starring the annoying Robin William, sTank Girk (which I own), Big (and Tom Hanks has been on my shit list since Apollo 13).
- Admiral Anika
Beetlejuice, the Adams Family, Martian Child, When Harry Met Sally/You've Got Mail, any Robin Williams...even if i've seen them a million times
- Krista K
Agree with all that chose Birdcage, cannot resist this movie.
- Janet
The Fugitive, Crimson Tide, and Hunt for the Red October, Clash of the Titans. probably a few more that I can't think of off the top of my head.
- Roberto Bonini
Trainspotting. I will watch that EVERY time I see it listed. I own it. Addams Family Values. Sean Connery James Bond films. Shallow Grave.
- Nine
@Josh Haley yes, any James Bond movie, even though I have them all on DVD.
- Jon Price
why is Die Hard 2 never on TV!?! it's my favorite (I know, I know), but it's always 1 and mostly 3 on. which I still almost always watch to the end.
- Jon Price
10 Things I Hate About You. Any high school movie really.
