Guess what, internoodle? Google Apps is officially out of beta. Do you know what that means? It means that Gmail, Docs, Calendar, and Talk are losing that "beta" signage / language you've come to know and loathe.

Please... this must be the 10th entries about that. Check the group before posting!
- Jérôme Flipo
Jérôme, it's an uphill struggle; FF needs to get better at recognizing and dealing with multiple instances of the same news-itemette and, rather than simply post it, provide feedback to poster before the deed: "This has already been submitted X times in the past hour to this group, would you settle for liking the first instance of it instead?" - or something.

With my husband in the hospital for 3 more weeks, I thought I could convince him to get on FF. I mean, is there a better time suck out there? He won't go for it.
He was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) 2 weeks ago. Hate to link to wikipedia for this, but it actually has a great description of it. Of all the leukemia subtypes, it's the one to get. Has the best prognosis. But it's a very long hospital stay (initially 1 month followed by 2 more chemo treatments of 1 week to 1 month each time). He has about 3 more weeks for this stay.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Nancy actually suggested FB as an easy way to lose large quantities of time.
- Matt
Yeah - I suggested FB as well. He's just not interested.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
He can hook up to FF in hospital, cool. Hope he gets better, Jen!
- Kol Tregaskes
Thanks Kol. and me too. It's been very hard, but it looks promising.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Not sure how many of these apply with his condition, but maybe: Any MMO game if the hospital wireless can handle it (a lot of his friends play hint hint), any social network, pick up an instrument, Netflix on demand, start a blog, start a podcast. Many of his friends are almost permanently online so he really needs to get connected again, but he just might not be ready yet.
- Robert
He doesn't really have the attention span to learn something new right now. He started City of Heroes again. Are any of you still playing WoW, Rob? He's already watching Netflix on demand and as you know he started a blog. I just really thought he might take advantage of this time to get involved in social networking. We'll see... he does have more time. There is a keyboard in a small activity room on his ward... but I doubt he'll try to pick it up. He's very musical though, so who knows.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Me, Kelly and Robert play WoW a lot. I know Dave still plays, but he tends to be on pretty late at night. I would love it if he gave it a try.
- Robert
Talked him into FB, but FF is a no go. For now. :) And Rob, I thought I copied you on the blog email, but if you didn't get it for some reason (may not have your current email address), here it is: http://adrianhasapl.blogspot.com/
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Mmmmm... Sounds yummy. Where do you all go out for breakfast around there? Always looking for places to branch out to on the weekends.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
I like First Watch for their Waffles. Juniors has the best eggs in town and it is right around the corner. Every once in a blue moon we will go to Briar Patch on Park Ave, but their service is pretty hit or miss.
- Robert
@RAPatton. Took some repeat listens for me as well. Love the last half of the song, but the first half sounds like cliched Subterranean Homesick Blues mixed with some Britney Spears - oooo Sexy Boots.
- Robert
Sort of related to the previous two but it might get some different answers, who is your most unlike crush, like someone no-one who expects? Perhaps an actress who is, lets say, a little 'older'.
Willem DaFoe. I know most people think he's a bit scary looking... but he was "it" for me for a long time. :)
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
He's definitely scaring-looking. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Gary Busey - JUST KIDDING!!! Alan Rickman, actually.
- Helen Sventitsky
well i can't think of any actor or actress right now but when it comes to my unlikes the first thing that comes to my mind is that , I really hate Mark Anthony ...
- Viva Vida
Judy Dench. She has a sexy voice! :-} (You meant "most unlikely crush", right?)
- Thomas Bøhm
Seth Green isn't exactly a classic sex symbol...
- Lis Miller
Oh Seth is s cutie though, Lis, especially with all his geekiness. My "old man" crush is Hugh Laurie though.
- Kelly W.
Kate Pierson. I blame it on Iggy Pop's "Candy" video.
- Robert
Kelly, I've had such a crush on Seth since he played the delectable Ox on Buffy. He's just so adorable (even if he is two inches shorter than I).
- Lis Miller
I agree with a lot of this editorial. I disagree completely that the new leadership is representative of future failure. The Republican party needs to start listening to Ron Paul. If not, maybe it is time for the Republican party to become a useless 3rd party and a new party should take its place.

The Republican Party (really all parties) could learn a lot from Ron Paul.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
"...had to upgrade to the 3g" Really? You had to? (FYI, not worth the upgrade IMO). I regret the upgrade personally. Higher bill and not much improvement
- Robert
Yeah, as far as I'm concerned the only difference I have noticed is the higher bill and different color. <.<
- Kelly W.
Yea, had to. My old phone was broken and beyond the hardware warranty.

Uh oh. I just got Fallout 3 and Little Big Planet. Guess there'll be no political coverage for me tonight. I might not know that Obama won until tomorrow.
Shoulder Devil: If you are going to blow off the election coverage, may as well blow off work and fire them up.
- Robert
LOL I would have if i didn't have a meeting. Five more minutes ...
- ·[▪_▪]·
I've heard about your "meetings." Telecommuting conferences comprised of the occasional supportive grunt or mmmhmmm. Sounds like game on to me ;)
- Robert
Ok, "Fallout 3" is pretty awesome so far.
- ·[▪_▪]·
Not sure how I feel about this...On one hand they have a right to their business model. On the other I am accustomed (hooked?) to virtually unlimited bandwidth. As the web becomes more and more media driven how much will the addiction cost? how many watch now netflix videos does this equate too?

I'm hopeful that even if a few states are held up by legal action, it'll be decisive enough without them. Of course, the ones that'll be questioned will be decided based on which can change the outcome, so ... I don't know. I'm afraid '00 set a precedent of letting the judicial system have the final word in all future elections.

With all the problems being reported this early (FL, VA, PA, OH, etc) if its close we will be in limbo again. I'm hoping for a landslide victory.
- Robert
Karl Rove's predicting a landslide for Obama.
- J450N
The Dems are voting in record numbers. It won't be close.
- Robert Scoble
The skeptic in me says we'll have a clear unofficial winner; then it'll be up to the courts to make it official
- rowlikeagirl
I took way more than 3 minutes and I had a sample ballot with me all filled out. :/
- Alix Whitmire
whats the location, i'll gladly call this in for you.
- Carlos Ayala
Yeah, what's the polling station? I'll file a complaint too
- Soup
I would raise hell if they tried telling me that. Just sayin'.
- David Cook
from twhirl
Very nefarious tactics - would contend that a time limit would be illegal?
- Matt Harwood
Um... yeah. Someone call that in. That's illegal.
- Carla Thompson
You should of had all of your picks done before going to the polls really, should just be recognizing names and marking a vote.
- xero
What are they going to do ... forcibly remove you? They can't enforce that time limit. lol
- Brandon
Is there an online copy of the ballot so I can make my picks before I go vote at lunch?
- David Cook
David, yes I believe there is. Google 'SC voter reigtration' to get to the SC site. I remember there being a menu item for elections, so if there's a sample ballot, I guess it would be there.

I know that some states do have legal time limits, but 3 minutes seems to be ridiculous. California, for example, has a law that limits the time in a booth to 10 minutes. I wonder if time limits are really enforced?
- Rochelle
Okay, upon further research, Iowa and Pennsylvania have a law that states no one can be in a booth for more than 3 minutes. Others may, too. I didn't check every state. What state is that picture from?
- Rochelle
South Carolina Code of Laws SECTION 7-13-760. Time when voter must leave booth and voting place; voter must be alone in booth and must not talk while voting. No voter, while receiving, preparing and casting his ballot, shall occupy a booth or compartment for a longer time than five minutes. No voter shall be allowed to occupy a booth or compartment already occupied by another, nor to...

- Rochelle
So yeah, the 3 minute sign is illegal. SC voters get 5 minutes.
- Rochelle
It would make sense to have some limit -- otherwise voters could foul the whole process by entering the booth and staying there all day
- Brian Sullivan
The sign still shouldn't be up. Just because it can't be enforced doesn't mean it's okay to put up signs in polling places that say illegal things.
- Rochelle
There are a lot of choices. 3 minutes is definitely not enough time for many people. I just returned from my own polling location in NY where the clerk explained the machine and told me to "take all the time I needed".
- Tom Harrison
I agree. There's no way I could have voted in under 3 minutes. I had already determined my vote for President, but I had to read the amendments and decide in the booth. I never received a sample ballot. Conspiracy!
- Mattb4rd
Looks illegal -- wait, it's only 5 mins.!? WTH.
- Steve Lynch
Oh Goody! Lets see. 8,000 plus currently working just fine BlackBerry phones on non Iphone compatible BlackBerry Enterpeise servers to handle email. Sounds like good fiscal policy to switch all that working just fine hardware out so lawmakers can have a cool phone.

"GM: OK, the bugbear attacks you. What do you do? OBAMA: I send one of my 672 henchmen after it. MCCAIN: OK, seriously. Why does he have so many henchmen? I'm a level 72 ranger and he's only a level 8 paladin. OBAMA: Well, if you'd bought the Grassroots Organizing and Oratory/Colgate Smile proficiencies you could min max it so that you... MCCAIN: Why is he even IN this campaign? I...

Maybe this one will keep my interest over WOW...
- Robert
Nice that it'll be cross-platform but i'm not sure i care about playing the Star Wars universe any more unless it's as a lego. :) I think SWG was enough for me.
- ·[▪_▪]·
Well it needs to be a vast improvement over SWG. I can't' go backwards after seeing the light with WOW.. hehe
