What is interesting to see is how quickly "free market" die-hards will suddenly disavow the eternal wisdom of the "invisible hand" and suddenly embrace the visible, interventionist hand of government policy. P.S. A nationalized Halliburton is called "a military".

@Chester - Capitalism requires stability to function, so for capitalists, stability is a higher priority than capitalist principles. If the country starts to fall apart and people begin to starve, capitalist principles will neither feed them nor get the country back up on its feet. Social and political stability is paramount.

@Rob: I understand and do not disagree with the motivation. My point was simply that it's amusing how quickly normative economic ideology gets shucked aside when confronted with calamitous exigencies.

There's a lot of things I could learn from Olympians, but mostly I spend my time in awe over the fact that other people my age have gotten gold medals, traveled the world and fulfilled their destiny.
